You did an amazing tutorial. Very clear with specific points to each function. I feel much more confident to start.😊
I'm so glad!
This demo is the benchmark for explaning how a machine works, and how to do it. Great and honest explanation. I wish that others who make video's about this topic could understand that not everybody knots how things work.
Many others seems to assume that you will understand if you see only half of it. Jo this is the way to go!!
Very kind of you, thank you, glad you enjoyed the video
thank you so much for your perfect demonstration. now I am looking for more lessons in English or dutch to make some clothing on my new machine. but I am very happy and hope to make a lot of creating on this machine. I am sorry my English is not so good. thank you for this
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for your excellent demonstration Jo! I have successfully made my very first buttonhole. Loving my new machine!
Thank you so so much for this! I have a manual but couldn’t locate but watching you has helped me fully realize what a fabulous machine this is and thread it right to get the best stitches 😅 and do my first buttonhole, well watch the machine 😊 Thank you 👏
Thank you Jo 😊 I got this machine last August and it’s really good. I’ve learnt a few things from you today... always learning 👍

I wonder if this is the most current version of my old Janome 4030 (bought circa 2008)?
Also, an entry level computerised Janome sewing machine. I usually sew with a Janome walking foot on.
But my computerised stitch buttons have options, either for non stretch or stretch fabrics.
I love how this comes with an xtn table, would love one of those.
Does this machine have the second spool holder, so you can sew with a double ....... needle, to make a neat hem for tshirts etc? (My 4030 does not have the second spool holder to make this happen).

What should the foot pressure be set on?
Really enjoyed the tutorial. Could you please tell me how long a normal straight stitch will go please? Can it be used for basting, rather than doing it by hand?
Hi Elaine - I’m glad you enjoyed the video, enjoy your machine, the straight stitch can be set at 5, which can be used for basting on some items - cheers Jo
Hi Jo how do we use the extra spool pin. I need to wind a bobbin but I don’t want to untread my machine. The instructions in the manual are unclear
I haven’t got a serger. How do I finish my raw edges to stop them fraying? Please can you tell me the best stitch and the width and length adjustments. Thank you so much. Im just learning to sew at 63
Hi Pauline / enjoy your sewing!! You need the overedge foot (either C or G - sorry can’t remember off hand) flick through the stitches until you find foot c or g highlighted to use with that stitch, use the guide on this food against the edge of your fabric - it creates a straight stitch and a zig zag both at the same time and is perfect for finishing your edges / good luck
I have the 780 DC, it seems to be the only one in the range without the extension table - am I right?!
Hi Jennet, sadly none of the Sewist Range (of which your 780DC) comes with an extension table included. The JQ6 quilting kit may be a good additional purchase £149 (i know this fits your machine!) - take a look here - page 15: 74dbe983-12c4-499b-ab2d-07c9f4df30f0.filesusr.com/ugd/64fc51_a57f0ed0d23c45c8a6a0ede779236610.pdf
I wonder how this compares to the CXL301? I’m undecided which one to buy for my 15-year old daughter who has expressed an interest in sewing/textiles 🤔
Hi - it’s the newest version of the CXL301 which is now discontinued - also comes with an extension table - so I would always recommend you go with the latest model as it has more updated features - sure your daughter will love it and with such an easy machine will enhance her in her textile journey .
@@sewcreative Thanks so much for your advice. I’ll order her one tomorrow. She’ll love the surprise 😃
How do you change the position of the needle(from right to left)?
By using the stitch width Jill, use the right arrow to move the cursor from the stitch selector to the middle (stitch width - default at 3.5) then press top or bottom arrows to move the needle left or right.
Can you help me please. I can't decide between janome 230dc and brother A50 ☹
Hi - this is a tricky one without test driving them both - this would always be my suggestion - we are in Hampshire, England, if you’re able to pop and see us? Otherwise here are some thoughts: Janome 230DC: comes with an extension table, nice features, fairly easy to use, 2 years warranty, a few decorative stitches. The Brother A50 - really easy to use, a brilliant needle threader, 3 year’s warranty, more decorative stitches than the 230DC.
I hope this helps? Cheers Jo
@@sewcreative Thank you so much for your advice. Unfortunately I live in germany and can't visit you but I will test them before shopping. Best regards
Followed the instructions but my buttonhole keeps on sewing zigzags at the end, not sure what I have done wrong on stitch 24
Maybe the buttonhole lever is not all the way down - this can sometimes mean that the buttonhole is not perfect
@@sewcreative thank you, I will try that and report back ☆☆☆
The lady giving this demonstration just talks to herself, mumble jumble, can't understand a lot of what she's saying. She drops her voice off at each point she is trying to make.
Well I thought it was a great tutorial. Don’t know what you were watching. Always one
