In this excerpt, C.S. Lewis explains the transformative impact of Jesus Christ's incarnation on humanity. He begins by describing how, in a perfect world without sin, humans might have naturally shared in the divine life from birth. However, due to humanity's rebellion, our natural life (Bios) is now opposed to the divine life (Zoe). Lewis uses the analogy of turning a tin soldier into a real man to illustrate how difficult it is for us to accept this transformation because it involves the death of our self-centeredness.
Lewis explains that God addressed this issue by becoming man in the person of Jesus Christ, who fully united human and divine natures. Through His life and sacrificial death, Jesus demonstrated what humanity was meant to be and provided a way for us to be transformed into sons of God. This transformation is not isolated to one individual but spreads throughout humanity, like a drop affecting the whole glass of water. Lewis concludes by emphasizing that salvation has been made available to all, and we must simply accept and participate in it through our relationship with Christ.

Thanks for putting this on. Lewis articulates in his writing, the requirement for transformation; to become the new man in Christ.
