Speedkicks was such a great inspiration for me when picking up Hwoarang properly with Tekken 7. I miss seeing him in tourneys, but his legacy will live on.
GREAT interview man. I've seen him play and I've been on his Twitter and I honestly thought he was just a jerk. But immediately now I get it - he's just really smart. Common misconception that happens with smart people (they see problems and the solutions to those problems clearly, if they are powerless to affect the change they desire AND it's about something they're passionate about this is very painful and frustrating). Very calm and happy/optimistic, not at all what I expected...just goes to show you.
So I saw K-Wiss this pro who plays Hwo as well, a really good player that reminds me of Speedkicks so I searched what he's been up to and then I saw this vid. Never knew he retired already. I hope he comes back for Tekken 8 maybe.

He'd see the changes now and probably flip out more, seeing as how now we have even more bs, characters like devil jin are even stronger now than ever in t7, for basically no reason other than for namco to see what characters to bring back for t8 because of play stats.
I completely agree with speedkicks the game feels casual compared to other iterations. There is a reason he posted tekken 5dr as one of his most recent videos.

I wish BAMCO listened to this man. Speedkicks is always so insightful.
What is fun about tekken is not just the ability to "do cool stuff". The best thing about tekken is that you can "do cool stuff" on offence AND you have incredibly wide array of defence resources when you are on defence. So sometimes not pressing buttons is even more fun than actually pressing buttons. You can dash around, SS fuzzy stuff even in neutral at certain timings to limit options opponent has etc. Thats where power needs to be. Its ok to have slightly more limited movement but you can't constantly increase range and tracking on everything for god's sake. Make moves a commitment.
Speed says he retired, but it sounds more like to me that he quit because he wasn't enjoying it anymore.

I don't like Hwoarang at all, but I like Speedkicks. He speaks a lot of truth. The gameplay in Tekken 7 is really cheap. A lot of characters are overpowered compared to others, and there is no logic applied to many of the balance decisions. I've said this for a long time.

Plus, it is not consistent doing it, nor getting into that situation is that consistent. I have a video on my channel "escaping infinite tech", may help a lot of players having trouble with that.
%100 with you on Ganryu. Exactly what I thought playing Taka Arashi. You seen his side step evade from Tachiai?! Tha's a solid move to see from a Sumo player. No throw mix up? Tha's deffinately something too. Very slow plus frames, and most of the time all he can check with is a df1 as a frame trap mid. He feels hollowed imo.
School doesn't teach how to open a bank account and open a business because you can literally do it in 1 day. Just go to a bank, go to Commercial Register and do it in 1,5 hours with waiting in line. You ask yourself how to make money from school knowledge? You use this knowledge to understand different fields/get interested in something, or simply to get admission mark for further studies. A professional school/bachelor/master degree guarantees you an above-average salary in any professional field (ex: at least 40,000 Eur/year for bachelor in Germany in your first contract after graduation). Not everyone is able to make it, because obviously, you need perseverance and brains. And numbers tell that a lot of people drop university after first 2 semesters because it's hard. But, whenever a person is able to do it, and doesn't make for some reason...it's just foolish from him.

T7 is an adjustment and that's really not for everyone, believe me I only started playing it last year cause I still preferred TTT2 and I couldn't play that either since 2014 cause it was only available on what was at the time previous gen consoles

now cmon fellas lmao..... Jae, Ganryu was a gimmicky character before T7. TTT2 Kuni had a throw game. T7 isn't a perfect game, but lets not pretend VF is superior because the sumo character is more traditional lol.

@@2lowkey100 nah, I feel your interpretation is poor if you took it otherwise. SK is practically saying his losses are the result of "bad" Tekken design, not him making mistakes or learning matchups. He believes he is too good of a player to simply lose, the developers are at fault for not making the game in a style he can have success in. On the surface he is critiquing the overall game, but as he elaborates, it falls down to losing. You ever beat a friend in a game, and their once competitive attitude turns into them being overwhelmed with boredom (a side effect of being a sore loser).... that's what we are witnessing. The challenge of overcoming Anakin's Jack, Cuddlecore's Alisa, and other new comers in the US, on top of feeling your main character is bottom tier is tough. Then add on the Pakistan, Korean and EU monsters, he has a mountain to climb. If Hwoarang received a god tier patch, I'm willing to bet his tune would change. Just unfortunate, because Speedkicks is one of the most talented players in the US with an interesting character, and he represents African American Tekkenn scene. I'd prefer to see him give it his all instead of giving up, but losing isn't enjoyable, can't knock him too hard.
