I have to say I love mine I believe I bought it about five years ago got it for around $80. I don’t mind the sheath too much because it’s attached to my 5:11 Rush 24 get home bag the Molly works good. I have tested it out camping in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York many times. It’s always with me in the back of my Jeep with the bag. Stay safe.
As an owner of RTAK 2, I have two gripes that i discovered over these years. The handle is thicc. If your hand is XXL or larger then yeah this is okay. If it’s L or smaller then Junglas handle is easier (I don’t own a Junglas but I held it at a shop near me once and I immediately felt much more comfortable). You’re using it to hack then having a good grip is important. 2) the sheath is quite budget. The clip snapped and the strap holding onto the handle is frayed. Although I understand that I owned for years the clip breaking off was a bummer. But having said that, if I can only have one blade in boreal /deciduous forest I’d take this
Hello 👋 my outdoors friend. The the RTAK II IS a real beast. Thank you for sharing this video. All the best to you. Please keep up your great videos. 🤗
I have an RTAKII 125th Anniversary edition and I love that knife. It came with a black leather sheath instead of that terrible nylon sheath. I like your kydex sheath on your RTAKII, it's not loud when you put it back in the sheath. I can't stand a kydex sheath that make it really loud to put the knife back in the sheath that it could be heard for miles. I carry my RTAKII and my Esee 6 and it's the perfect combo in my opinion. I use my RTAKII as a machete to hack through the bush and some battonning, but I'm not hard on it because OKC has closed it's factory so if anything were to happen to my blade, as things inevitably happens with a lot of knives because of hard use, I'd be screwed, so I use mine for light chopping. I just want to hold on to my RTAKII for as long as I can and then hand it down to my kid one day. I think it's one of OKC's best blades ever so I'm going to buy a Junglas for the heavy chopping but not my beloved RTAKII. I bought mine to remember the 85 employees that lost their jobs due to the buyout from Bark River Knives.
I do love my junglas but they are very similar, I think the junglas has better handle contour. I was wondering if you were ever going to actually swing it lol haha, I do custom kydex and knife making if there is ever a need. Thanks for showing and im sure you'll really enjoy it. 👍
I have the Junglas. Absolutely badass blade. I do plan on picking up an RTAK 2 at some point. Just love the way these look. Unfortunately, I think they have Changed the steels used from 5160 to a 440 stainless or something I heard. Maybe I'm wrong. But if I do end up purchasing one, it'll be an older model with the 5160.
Hello. No more 5160 steel available. The RTAK II comes in the cheap 1075 steel. Almost all the stores in the market say that the steel is 5160 but is not true. Ontario transitioned to this steel years ago. I bought mine thinking It was made out of 5160 steel as advertised at the store but It comes in the shitty 1075. Go with Esse or Tops instead, they do not give you fake info when you consider to buy a knife. Regards.
I would have thought a knife with a 10" blade could handle much thicker wood. My knife can handle that thickness easily, and its only got a 5" blade❗️Big up Fallkniven 😊
I've had mine for years and love it.
Had my rtak2 a week now and absolutely love it!!! Beast on a budget!!!

I sanded down my handle scales, particularly along the edges. By rounding the edges, top and bottom, it felt like a totally different knife!
Good idea

Now that's always been a Big Knife ☝️💯‼️

Greeeeeat.. now I need one. Who knew🤷♂️
Where did the sheath come from? I got a crappy nylon one with mine.
What do you still think of the rtak 2?

I believe they are still carbon steel
5160 still
Pretty sure they are 1075 now. Which should be fine. It's tougher than 1095 and can get hard enough.

@@yggdrasil902 yeah I'm not a fan of how they heat treat 1075. Wayyy to hard. Impossible to sharpen.
My next knife 👍
I dont think there really is a one knife solution
Enabler!! 😄
Truth
Exactly
Knife? Didn't the Romans carry one of those? They called it a sword. Looks like it will certainly do the job. Thanks for sharing.
If you have a need to baton wood, it looks like a large knife could be a good choice. 🗡
man I hate the sheath
Great blade, good to see you hacked down that japanese honeysuckle, one of the most invasive plants in Ohio

Have you seen the Joe X videos on Falkniven ? Truly awful knives !
@@daveandmerlin I have, however just about anything in Joe X's hands is going to be destroyed❗😩
@@stephenclarke3990 for sure but stuff like Condor etc for the 3rd of the price last way longer .
@@daveandmerlin Not in my experience. Condor are cheap & nasty, and I wouldn't want another of you gave me one.
Fire
Bk9 is a better chopper and batoner
why? Is it magical?
Dam I thought SP10 is big 🤣
