  • The Shaolin Dharma Sword, one of the Shaolin martial arts, was passed on from the Bodhidharma. Physically and spiritually, the technique has 41 moves including the hack, point, lift, sweep, stir, hold, burst and also wrist tricks. The practitioner alternates between movement and stillness, with multiple moves for the sword and the fingers.

'That's when I realized the problem was not about the sword at all, but about myself. It was the result of my impetuosity.' Just imagine if most of us were able to reach that revelation. We would've been living in a better world now.

Im not much of a religious or spiritual person, but eastern spiritualities and faiths like like that of Shaolin, Buddhist, or Shinto monks always struck me as less "Hall hail the mighty Yawe!" Like Christianity and more like "Respect nature and calm your mind." so that even someone like me, who doesn't have an ounce of faith in the divine in them, would still be able to fit in and learn. its like a mental form of a Martial art. and it feels like the wisdom masters of eastern faiths have to offer is more real than western faiths. id love to go to china or japan to learn from these places and take their wisdom to better my own life, to try and distance my mind from the anxiety and depression that has almost claimed my life over a dozen times in the past 4 years. i have nothing but respect for you as you are more wise than i am and possess knowledge and wisdom i can only dream of learning.

You nailed the core difference of western and eastern faiths right there. Unlike western faith where God is the truest and His teaching must be worshipped and adored, obeyed, eastern faith, the way I've experienced it, at least, focuses more on self-cultivation. You are encouraged to literally be a better person, be it through improving mindset, behavior, or, yes, through worship, or through more physical thing like social interaction, charity, or, as the Shaolin do it, through practice of meditation and martial art to build discipline and self-control, which are the basis of their actions outside of their religious life. Basically, strong belief in God means nothing if your self and life don't reflect it; no matter how much you honor God, it means nothing if you don't honor your self, your fellow human, and nature, of if you don't show it by living your life accordingly. In fact, a Buddhist monk once said that God doesn't need your faith, for God is mighty and your faith, to him, is like a single grain of sand in a desert; it really makes no difference whether it's there or not. Your life and how you live it, however, is of the utmost importance to you, to everyone around you, and it is equally true even if you don't believe in divinity. To view it this way, it's almost easy to categorize most Eastern faiths as philosophies with God/god figure(s) rather than religion, but maybe many people wiser than myself would disagree with this.

Why specifically only destroying what happened before Xia?
What happened before Xia Dynasty is considered to be mythical. Where God-like beings did God-like things.

    • @MatthewTraceur

No one fights like that, but that's the whole point of taolu, it synthesises the key concepts of sword handling into a sequence, Chinese swords require ample wrist dexterity to use properly, hence that concept is taught through the taolu movement, the wide cuts and stabs are not to be done in sequence in a real fight, but to be broken down and used as the situation requires, it's usefulness scales with the amount of muscle memory the practitioner has ingrained through repetitive training

if chinese martial art whether hand to hand or weaponry doesnt work
Ancient china wouldnt be so powerful, even mongol needed time to conquer it, even then it cannot hold it for long.
if the martial art is bad and not as good as the other, how could they dominate and conquer land before the age of gun
many MMA BETAS, says that kung fu doesnt work, but many other martial art mostly in sinosphere have chinese kungfu base.
