Yeah, since everyone else is comparing him to Weird Al, I'll fall in and do it too. The thing is that Weird Al (as quoted from a documentary I recently listened to) always had permission (after he got famous) from the original artist to do his parodies, and it was seen as a badge of achievement and honor to be parodied by him, except for the song "Amish Paradise", where the original artist revoked his permission, but then reinstated it, and then, after multiple yes', Michael Jackson straight up refused his permission to parody one of his songs about race. But anyway, I don't know for sure, but I believe that in the pre-internet and pre-streaming days of AOL, Dial-up Internet, and Napster/Limewire/FrostWire, and especially UA-cam Music, it was most probably an honor for anyone in another state to have even heard of you as a country music artist, much less expressed an interest in your work. And while I don't know for sure, I imagine that Cletus T. Judd did much the same as Weird Al Yankovic, and not only asked the original artist for their permission to parody their work, but also the original songwriter and record label if only for legal reasons. Personally, as a wannabe parody artist, I would consider this particular song as fair game for the taking. However, unlike Weird Al, I would never be so tasteless as to even consider making a parody of "where were you when the world stopped turning", "letters from home", "Angel Flight", "This is my last call", "Officer Down", or anything else like that. I'd return to my original "broke folk" status before I ever even considered poking fun at the suffering of others or the honored dead, like Al wanted to do with one of Michael Jackson's songs, but was refused permission by Michael Jackson himself!
I met Cledus and the Iron Sheik in a bar outside of Fayetteville Ga once and we proceeded to get three sheets to the wind . I came out of there with two autographed pics of Cledus and the sheik having me in a headlock lol . God Bless the US and Much Love
The commentary for this was hilarious! When Cledus T. and Trace were on set. Trace said that Cletus T. was a scaredy cat because of how he ran from him when he made him ``dance''. I thought that was funny when I was 12. Cledus T. is awesome!
I set at a Hooters bar talking to Cledus and watching a game on tv had no idea who he was. When some people recognized him and started bothering him told he enjoyed the company and left I didn't blame him very down to earth person
it was quite amazing and an honor to see him and his band rehearse in a bar my dad owned in Madison, TN. (1996) i will never forget it. super nice guy and of course very funny. when they did this song i couldn’t contain myself, along with every other song they rehearsed.
I used to wait for each light bulb to go out before I actually went out and bought bulbs. I'd use flashlights most of the time or switch bulbs around from one room to the other.
I like how Cletus sometimes gets the artists he's making fun of to participate in his videos. I wish Weird Al would do that. I'm also real impressed how Cledus makes his voice sound exactly like Trace when singing the verses.
They showed us this video on the first day of school when I was getting my degree in industrial maintenance and said this is the wrong way to do wiring lol
Freaking Absolutely Awesome. Love this. This old House keeps falling apart , love this. House looks like where the Amish leave I love this , EVERY light in the house is blown , damn I been there sitting in the dark. LMAO I love this.
Hilarious, yes, but very well done and highly clever. This was well thought out and no doubt by someone intelligent and has an appreciation for the nuances of humor and wit.
comettamer You know how Wierd Al does parodies with food themes( Eat It, Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch etc). Well imagine Cledus and Wierd Al parodying The Tractor's" Baby Likes to Rock It" with " Baby Likes To Cook It with Gravy Train" . That would be hilarious, don't are who y'ar
And Cledus loves getting the original Artist in the video too. So Cledus and weird al + cledus = My dog eats chicken gravy train. Cledus gonna sing Big and Rich's part, Weird Al gonna do the rap of Cowboy Troy's part. Big and Rich, Possibly Cowboy Troy gonna just be looking like wtf.
This is the exact shit that I love. Weird Al was my favorite artist back in the day. Eye makeup funny lyrics for every song you can imagine maybe someday I'll make a video.
I was just wondering what Trace Adkins would've thought about this & right at the end was there😆This goes to show that Mr. Adkins has a definite sense of humor 😆
Trace Atkins is awesome my mother met him at the airport in 1998 and said he was as kind and polite as can be.
Seeing Cledus imitate Trace dancing is damn funny. Trace was a good sport to appear with Cledus.

I set at a Hooters bar talking to Cledus and watching a game on tv had no idea who he was.

it was quite amazing and an honor to see him and his band rehearse in a bar my dad owned in Madison, TN. (1996) i will never forget it. super nice guy and of course very funny. when they did this song i couldn’t contain myself, along with every other song they rehearsed.

as somebody dealing with electrical issues in an old home..this is relevant.
I used to wait for each light bulb to go out before I actually went out and bought bulbs. I'd use flashlights most of the time or switch bulbs around from one room to the other.
I was Amish, so this had me chuckling!
How do you have access to the internet 🧐
@@zhardin3652 it’s called satellites 🛰️
Thank you, OMGosh thank you I'm going to watch again .
I feel like this song is more relatable than it's supposed to be.
I like how Cletus sometimes gets the artists he's making fun of to participate in his videos. I wish Weird Al would do that. I'm also real impressed how Cledus makes his voice sound exactly like Trace when singing the verses.
It’s actually trace adkins in that part
That's called editing. Trace sung those parts. I oughta know he's one of my favorite country artists
@@lukehubbard6791 pretty sure that was sarcasm... Its unmistakably traces voice.. No way to fake or imitate a baritone like that
It's like acdc or twisted sister no imitation like them.
@@dark_fly_boi2098 AC/DC when? Like with Van Halen, started with a different vocalist, so...
For whatever reason when I'm feeling low this song pick me up
Me and my wife loves this song big time okay letting y'all know okay
I hope Trace learned his lesson about leaving all the lights on...
Love the Trace Adkins disclaimer.
They showed us this video on the first day of school when I was getting my degree in industrial maintenance and said this is the wrong way to do wiring lol
Thanks for the heads up, I was about to do this.
Well Trace does warn us at the beginning, that cledas is not a pro lol.
My son tried his hand working for an electrician but it didn't work out very well as he is colorblind

Cleatus & Weird Al....The best of both worlds son.
Hello how are you doing today…?
Can you imagine if they did a song together.
The ending gets me rolling every time.
cledus t judd is awesome
I absolutely LOVE self-deprecating humor. I can say that since I'm my own worst critic.
Cletus can actually sing. I saw him in concert and he sang a song that he wrote and was stolen from him.
this song fits my life at home right now lol got like 4 light bulbs out 😂😂❤
Every light on my dash is on
I was an electricians apprentice. Can't tell ya how many times I've seen stuff like that.

Bru not bad
Ah yes, the struggle of owning a home... in a song
this is why i ask my dad about music
LOVE IT! Thank you!
country's weird al
Or is weird Al, rock's Cledus T Judd?
jim dupree Exactly what I said. Pretty much the same thing. He is to country music what weird al is to classic rock and even some modern rock.
jim dupree Weird Al is pop & rock's Ray Stevens. Cledus is Ray Stevens lite. He's still funny though, just to a lesser extent.
Know what. . Actually, Ray's humor is all original pieces. So, I was wrong.
I read that as "Country's weird, Al." Both statements are accurate.
song of storms
like if you got the clampets reference.
Chris Mcneese that was pretty awesome.
Who wouldn't get that reference?
I love that tv show/movie
I could watch his Trace Adkins dance everyday and it's still funny
