CJ had a smile on his face pretty much the whole time. That's what I love about him, he isn't an arrogant jerk like a lot of the good wide receivers can be (Owens, Ochocinco, Holmes). The guy just gets it and always seems to have fun.

I agree 100% Comerica park is helluva alot bigger then some small baseball park or College Baseball Field! Also can anyone here say they got the most receiving yards in the NFL this season AND hit a home run out of Comerica Park? Nope didn't think so...
that's because when you throw a baseball, you put spin on the ball to make it move, in such a way that you have to snap your wrist and elbow. When the ligaments start to get worn down, they tear.
Comerica is a big ballpark too! This is awesome to watch but I'm not surprised when an elite athlete can trade sports for a minute and do impressive things.
He'd probably hit it farther with more heat on the pitch, but his good bat speed proves he'd be able to power one out. Wasn't trying to sound rude or anything, sorry if I did. I just want to make sure people know what they're talking about. If you hit one out at Yankee Stadium and Orioles Stadium, then I guess you would know what you're talking about
Its all good man wasnt talking about you the others before you more then less. None the less bet he can pound a ball and swing and stance are close to perfect. Would like to see him hit some heat.
He was offered the opportunity to play baseball at Georgia Tech, and was going to until he showed what he could do on the football field his freshman year, and Chan Gailey told him he wasn't playing baseball. Seems to have turned out alright for him.
The homerun was impressive... I was even more impressed when he hit the ball to center that hit the warning track! Batting practice or not that is over 400 feet and most big leaguers can't hit it that far.
I bet baseball would love to have a 6'5, 240 lb. clean up hitter who also has a 50 inch vertical leap with 4.3 speed to play center field and rob home runs all day,,,,,,,,, GO MEGATRON !!!!
sidney crosby hit one out of the pirate's pnc park; I don't mean he hit over the wall. I mean he hit it OUT of the park and it ended up in the allegheny river.
Actually i can. Ive gone to O's stadium and also Yankees Stadium for Fan clubs and got to Bat inside the stadium. Hit one home run in O's Yankees Stadium has a Longer field and wall distance then O's. I find it funny though i point out the fact hes getting lob balls and i would like to see him hit something with some heat behind it and everyones got there panties in a Bunch.
How come hardly anyone cannot hit a homer to dead center at Comerica? That was *sigh* the seriousness of my statement. I highly doubt that every varsity player could hit the ball 400 ft... Secondly in case you forgot Calvin plays *sigh* football...
I enjoy playing baseball, have all my life. But I never got into watching it. Same with Hockey. Too boring when I'm not in there. Funny thing is is, it's the exact opposite with basketball and football.
I was more impressed by the warning track power to dead center @ 420 feet!
What nice, fluid and easy swing. Just a great athlete.
Georgia Tech boy right there. My favorite WR in the league.
CJ had a smile on his face pretty much the whole time. That's what I love about him, he isn't an arrogant jerk like a lot of the good wide receivers can be (Owens, Ochocinco, Holmes). The guy just gets it and always seems to have fun.
True, but when it was time to get down to business, he locked in before send that ball 400 ft. One of the greatest athletes ever?
I disagree on ocho he was a goofball the entire time always smiling crowd favorite.
Simmons.
Good form. Through his football dominance you almost forget that he was a baseball player his entire life.

His swing is almost effortless. Poultry in motion.
Football wasn't even his best sport. Dude is both doctor smart and an incredible athlete. Proud parents for sure!
Detroit Legend.

Damn he’s got a really nice swing
yea he was a really good hs baseball player
Awesome. Not a lot of professional athletes from other sports can do that. Very impressive.
He'd be great for the game.
I cant get over the homerun he hit! Look at his form!
Calvin Johnson is more talented than you realize. This was his Bo Jackson moment.
he's making a big park look BIGGER! he had to pull it
Comerica is a big ballpark too! This is awesome to watch but I'm not surprised when an elite athlete can trade sports for a minute and do impressive things.
You should see the rest of this video. They cut out the part where he hits the ball out to center field, chases it down, and catches it.
He'd probably hit it farther with more heat on the pitch, but his good bat speed proves he'd be able to power one out. Wasn't trying to sound rude or anything, sorry if I did. I just want to make sure people know what they're talking about. If you hit one out at Yankee Stadium and Orioles Stadium, then I guess you would know what you're talking about
It's even more impressive because it's in Comerica Park, which is bigger than most.
Natural athlete
He can unretire and come join the tigers!
Its all good man wasnt talking about you the others before you more then less. None the less bet he can pound a ball and swing and stance are close to perfect. Would like to see him hit some heat.

What a shot
The homerun was impressive... I was even more impressed when he hit the ball to center that hit the warning track! Batting practice or not that is over 400 feet and most big leaguers can't hit it that far.
Imagine him focused, swinging hard, off 100mph pitches. Those would be moonshots.
This isn't getting enough love.
Yeah, i'm getting him for my fantasy team again this season. 3rd year in a row.
Impressive, I remember some guy in the home run derby couldn't even get one homer.
Playing football -12 Tds (check)
Baseball- HR (check)
Basketball- Hes 6'5 (check)
Soccer- goalie (check)
Swimming- Black (weakness)
Answer: Almost
Completely agreed.
This guy is a cheat code.
impressive sorta.., but dont forget.., someone on the and1 mixtape tour also hit one out.., same stadium too i think..
Calvin was probably a better baseball player than football player coming out of highschool as a recruit...
What a beast...
He's mostly his upper body if he learned to use his hips he could mash the shit out of a baseball
He wasn't even trying. And what are you talking about "mostly upper body"? He was a legendary wide receiver. That position is ALL about lower body.
Sai he's talking about the swing being mostly upper body FFS
One of the greatest athletes ever?
Megatron can do anything
Sign him up.
Chicken in motion?
Very impressive for an NFL player
When he was in high school he was the 20th prospect for baseball out of georgia. So he could have played baseball too haha
The pitches were slow. hell of alot of power still
Looked like Jermaine Dye in the box. Wish Calvin still played football
If Calvin Chose Baseball I Think Calvin Would've Been Jermaine Dye 2.0
He doesnt have a bad swing at all
Football: check..... Baseball: check..... Next up, Basketball.
Best WR in the league. Optimus prime is primetimeing it.
Some people are just better than the rest of us.
He should've suited up for the Pirates that day
Wow, he didn't even look like he tried.
I bet baseball would love to have a 6'5, 240 lb. clean up hitter who also has a 50 inch vertical leap with 4.3 speed to play center field and rob home runs all day,,,,,,,,, GO MEGATRON !!!!
Sign this man to a Major League deal
Nice comment...now try getting 16 tds and being the best WR in the league!
Oh, and you must be a fan of a team he lit up last season
did you not see the one he almost hit past the 420 part of the park?
The one to the warning track in dead center was farther than the homer.
Saw on tv
Beast!
It's okay. The ones that didn't go over the fence, he would have had an inside the park homerun.
ALL HAIL MEGATRON
sidney crosby hit one out of the pirate's pnc park; I don't mean he hit over the wall. I mean he hit it OUT of the park and it ended up in the allegheny river.
@GameaPlaya...ever hear of BO JACKSON? The man was a NFL pro bowler and MLB all star not a hitting practice home run king like Calvin, lol.
terrible swing mechanics yet he still managed to launch it. impressive
He swings sorta like Ken Griffey Jr.
"Anyone can pull the ball."
Damn I love that sound. *POP* Knocking a couple balls out the park just for fun.
calvin johnson = beast niggaaa.
Sign him, put him in right field.
did he get a concussion after that?
Then maybe a little Hockey with good ol` Pavel Datsyuk?
I think you got the WNBA and NHL mixed up.
you forgot Track and Field (double check)
Can he play 2nd base?
The Padres NEED to sign him. We have no offense at all...
That's EXACTLY what I thought!!!
Megatron to the Tigers when?
he's an excellent athlete, no doubt, but most baseball players can catch a football when it's "tossed" to them on the sideline.
Actually i can. Ive gone to O's stadium and also Yankees Stadium for Fan clubs and got to Bat inside the stadium. Hit one home run in O's Yankees Stadium has a Longer field and wall distance then O's. I find it funny though i point out the fact hes getting lob balls and i would like to see him hit something with some heat behind it and everyones got there panties in a Bunch.
musta felt good
We found the next Bo Jackson
How so because u would to see him hit a real pitch and not a couple ones that are being lobbed at him?
He was drafted by the Reds but chose football so that explaines alot. Oh and im sure none of you could hit a home run at comerica park. No way.
He actually had 16 Tds too ! lol
Haha that's megatron baby! Go detroit
Looked like Tupac in the thumbnail
not bad...BUT JJ Watt hit 5 homers...5
Athlete
Yeah thats nice but the real question is can he hit a curve
wow i don't belive you!!!
Amen @jjmoney22
FIRST....... MEGATRON
How come hardly anyone cannot hit a homer to dead center at Comerica? That was *sigh* the seriousness of my statement. I highly doubt that every varsity player could hit the ball 400 ft... Secondly in case you forgot Calvin plays *sigh* football...
you have to be joking... please tell me you're joking..
bo jackson like
You couldn't be more wrong. Size won't make up for a lack of technique.
And that is why....Football >>>>>> Baseball
I enjoy playing baseball, have all my life. But I never got into watching it. Same with Hockey. Too boring when I'm not in there. Funny thing is is, it's the exact opposite with basketball and football.
Fastball inside, in the wheel house, CJ is definitely not semi-pro.
Dont forget hockey- (weakness)
