ok im still figuring out my opinion on this, but Techno also only ever referred to him as a 'business partner' or something similar. He implied he would sell out Tommy if Dream asked for his favour. He also never helped Tommy achieve his end of the bargain (the discs). I do think he cared about Tommy, but from Tommy's perspective that couldn't be seen.
@@spaghetii5337 in the recent streams he called Tommy his friend, and he even trusted him with the axe of peace. As much as I hate to admit it. Tommy betrayed Techno. I’m pretty sure Tommy didn’t care enough about Techno. He has always had people trust him, so he didn’t know Techno’s trust wasn’t something many people earned. Even though in Pogtopia they worked together I don’t think he trusted them much.
@@spaghetii5337 For the first few streams, yes, but in the end, Techno did legitimately start thinking about the discs and did consider Tommy a friend. Plus he did make his intentions clear every step of the way, yet Tommy labels him a traitor. Despite Techno hiding stuff from to-do lists, he pretty much mentioned L'Manberg's destruction in front of Tommy every stream. Techno did offer to sell out one time, but in that scene it kinda feels like Techno knew Dream wouldn't spring for a favor, and he did protect Tommy during that exchange as well. From Tommy's POV, it wasn't really apparent that Techno cared for him say for a few big moments, like making weapons and a helmet labeled "Tommy's Helmet" for him, as well as giving him the Axe of Peace (which I kinds feel like Tommy wasn't actually supposed to lose-).

@@carpetjuise I think it was supposed to be more of a stalling battle, like Techno wasn’t expected to kill everyone that much but just hold them off and keep them distracted while Dream made the bomb. But a combination of Techno too good at PVP, and Tommy and Tubbo definitely not being good at it made it seem a lot more bloody than it was probably supposed to be. But if anything, L’manberg is canonically dead since it’s been blown up three times 👍

@@kaelaroberts9888 I think the importance is what it signifies. Tommy fought a war with Tubbo and Sapnap to get it back, it is almost like the discs signifies the friendship between Tubbo and Tommy. And also the story needs a motivation for the players to keep moving and for Tommy it is the discs

Furthermore he’s given a lot for things like the discs and l’manberg. To just give up after trying so hard to defend those two things disrespects and demeans his sacrifices and the past that he clings to in his mind. Sure he could just get another mello hi, but it isn’t the mello hi that he went to war with the most powerful man on the server for, it isn’t the disc that he sacrificed in order to create l’manberg, it isn’t the disc that he’s spent so much time with Tubbo fighting for
