It is a lovely set. I bought when it came out (2015), but only got it fully painted last year :-) For the fencing, I stretched the sections out, as I prefer the thinner look on the table and doing that gave me 6’ in total.

I just bought this set on eBay. Got it for about 115 USD shipped. And I already have two Union infantry boxes and two Rebel infantry boxes. So I should be able to put together a nice Mcpherson Ridge Gettysburg 1st day scenario.
Great review, very detailed! I agree with you on the 'generic' ACW infantry, if you don't mind them not having bayonets fixed, the single piece paired arms make the minis much faster to assemble, which is good news when dealing with so many mins.

@@KingMATTtheSuperior I’m only about a third of the way done painting it. But already saved so much time with contrast paints. The union is very easy. Looking forward to a lot of skirmish games with this army set.
@@KingMATTtheSuperior Ive had my Battle in a Box for about 4-5 years and only now just starting on it due to the Coof lockdowns I put my uniform/Flag sheet somewhere safe now i cant find it lol So i Emailed Perry Miniatures and Alan Perry Replied the next day and sent me a PDF of them Brilliant Bloke and a great company !
Normally I don’t use the bases from the box sets. I tend to use British pennies for the infantry with movement trays. For the cavalry I use 25mm pill bases and for artillery I’ve started making my own bases
I’ve got this, a great set. I like the generic figures, they’re a nice alternative in poses to the other plastic box sets. I’m going to use it as all Union, I’m making up regiments for 1st Bull Run, a lot of Union troops seemed to have those short jackets and grey uniforms so those Confederate figures are perfect. I’ll probably buy another one of this.
It’s such good value and nice I believe early war they wore more shell jackets than sack coats so that could easily work :) will keep an eye out for your work :)
Really great American Civil War set! I watched an earlier video where you were working with 6mm ACW miniatures and these I believe are 28mm. Which scale do you prefer and why?
Thanks :) and yeah I’ve done both scales and both have their strengths. I really like 28mm and I enjoy painting that scale and playing with it however I always liked the idea of larger battles which is very hard to do in 28mm so that’s where 6mm comes in. I liked my 6mm project however I think I now would like to go back and rebase them, also at 6mm you can do a whole division for about 100 pounds which I think is great :)

The extra Artillery crew is needed for Limbers no Limbers less crew

I have dozens of sprues of those bases. I use MDF bases. Got to figure something for these bits of plastic. Terrain maybe.
