Will you ever release your favorite presents using the Cory Wong Archetype? Would be awesome to see how you sculpt the plug-in to get tones that inspire you.
Thank you, Ross. I really appreciate that you play the licks in multiple octaves - some of us newbs are still finding our way up from the lower end of the fretboard! Cheers
Nice lesson, gives it a more kind of jazz fusion sound to my ear, creating tension which is great, especially when you come back to the basic pentatonic, really interesting sound, nice one many thanks !
Phewww.... I constantly tried to imitate that sound with my gear/guitar while watching the video. This sound is absolutely gorgeous! Getting close, but not totally there. Wow! Very, very, very nice, Ross! I enjoy your playing more and more and more! Keep it up! Your content is gold! Thank you!
Lol once again Ross, you've highlighted something that was right under my nose (or more accurately right under the perfect 5th) that I should have picked up on a long time ago! I know I use that bend on occasion but it was normally only by default cause I was thinking in terms of the blues minor scale. I'll certainly be changing it up with this. I'm sure at this point my girl has heard enough 4th to perfect fifth bends to last a lifetime lol. Itll be nice to have that blue note spicing things up even when I'm just thinking in pentatonic mindless riff terms. Makes me wonder what else I'm over looking even though I should know better lol?!
Pretty comfortable with my pentatonic scales still working on major and minor...seriousely having a bastard of a time making coherent and usable scales out of these. Thank you for helping me make a little more sense of it. Even though my progress in this department is very slow I am seeing improvement everyday. Loving all the musicians in this youtube community!!!
Fantastic lesson man, and man oh man I've been loving the Archetype: Cory Wong since it came out so it's great to be hearing it utilised so well in this video x
Tasty stuff! ...as always. Bending up from the 5b sounds boss. Reminds me of doing two quick bends in a row from the 4th, then 5b? Your licks are always worth checking out! Those string slides in your intro were killer as well!
I can't believe you're getting such good tones out of a computer plugin. Anytime I've tried I immediately go back to my tube amp and microphone. I know the editing options are far greater with plugins but I can't get it to "feel" yet. I'll try again soon. Thanks for the "grace" notes!
great lesson Ross, thanks! Been following for quite a while, and have always liked your playing, lately you have definitely taken it up a notch! Very cool to see.
Cool ideas & thanks for the link and demo ,I'm finally getting around to setting up a home studio/writing/practice space ...can't really crank up the Boogie lol
Your playing keeps getting better and better! Great lesson, there are a few half-tone bends in the pentatonic/blues/dorian scales that add a nice tension to one's playing. But I think the delay should be called "Delay-ay-ay."
Glad you didn't say not to bend from that note... cause I bend the hell out of that note! Great intro solo... you play things I'd never think of. It's good to hear things like that.
You could bend from the flatt fifth then pre bend from the forth and release, it would also work in reverse, kind of a little, ear tricking illusion, I like that stuff, sometimes I use bends, even to go up a forth in places but then you can release it to different intervals, you can do it while holding a static note on another string too, basically you are right, there are some very interesting possibilities, I did some at a gig recently and the bassist said oh you played some country lol.
Excellent and concise. I learned this trick by copying Philip Sayce videos and it adds some funk or stank in the middle of your standard bluesy pentatonic stuff.
You're an awesome guitar player! Great feel, touch, tone and phrasing! Thanks for the excellent lesson. I think you can bend to any note from a half-step, whole-step or step-and-a-half below or more. I prefer to stick to half-step and whole-step bends because I hate breaking strings in the middle of a solo. Personally, I prefer the sound of whole-step bends but half-step bends are very useful when playing acoustic guitar. They're both great. I love the sound of bending strings. You are an expert at it. Thanks. PS: I just subscribed to your channel.
@@RossCampbellGuitarist recently discovered your channel while searching for a Am Pro II in that colour! I would appreciate some funk like the 1st video specially with the Wong archetype.. Maybe another video?? Hehe keep up
and no one is going to talk about that dorish 6th? btw, that slide and bend, like Asato...I really like your style! Great lesson Ross....Btw, are you one day giving online lessons?
Great, just what I need. So it's just from the 4th or b5 to the 5th? That's it? What about the other intervals? b7 to root? Do you bend on that particular G shape all the time or do you like to bend using other shapes? Thx Ross.
Yeah, bending from the flat 5 to the perfect 5 to my ears tends to add some kind of "slide guitar" vibe to the playing. As does a (very quick) bend from the major 7 to the 1 (or 8). Those small bends really do have a certain charme...
@@RossCampbellGuitarist There's a nice video somewhere here on UA-cam with Jimmy Herring talking about and demonstrating this while doing some guitar clinic q&a thing. He's very good at it...
Easy to do when ya use .09s and i see the new trend is to use extra light strings- Sounds like he's using 08s cause it sounds weird and thin sounding to me. Thats makes bending too easy for most players like myself and it takes a lot of getting used to. I've no choice because of swelling joints and getting older 52, but I'm willing to learn an entire new way of playing and it's so easy to play than .10s that it takes a LOT of discipline. You have to be way more suttle. Like being on the moon. You could jump right off the fretboard. 😃 So I'm doing .09s and tuning standard now, as opposed to Eb, so singing covertunes means i have to keep my voice in perfect shape and can't do more than 2 gigs a week when you're doing Journey, AC/DC, Quiet Riot, etc.
Holy shit Ross!!! This is 2nd time I've been blown away by your funky Robben Ford-ish phrasing (the other was motifs)!!!! Very freakin fresh...stll technically challenging, but not all flash without substance ! Kudos bruh!
Ross your the greatest; but the tone on that reverb is terrible it sounds so artificial why bother to play at all? It muffles all those beautiful bends, try a light chorus. Good luck to all.
