Hi everyone! This is insane quality compared to vsti plugins. Now this guys created the emulation from scratch as far as i understand it. This is the sickest thing in history of plugins period. This guys are geniuses at least for me, This emulation maybe could be used for making new synths entirely. Sick, you can here the clarity miles away compared to any other plugin. And to be honest the best is free now. Thank you to the devs
No, you can not compare the hardware with software. Hardware has real components, software does not include components, its up to your own setup of soundcard etc.
This, isn't anything different than an arcade emulator or Sega Genesis emulation, that is emulating the Yamaha synth, and the main synth chips. The only real difference, is that the DSP in the access virus, used a hell of a lot more processing, and has a whole lot more instruction sets than what an 80s Yamaha synthesizer chip would have. They essentially made an extremely close simulation that will run the original OS for the synthesizer, and will also run its ROM chips that have been dumped into a file. It should in theory sound extremly close. Yea your personal interfaces DAC could color the sound a bit, but it should be extremly close to accurate. And to be fair, the inputs that are in your interface, would totally color the sound when capturing it live from a real Virus, so it's very difficult to tell without coming straight off the board.
I think it's weird that this doesn't sound outdated!. I think Omnisphere and Serum are some of the best. But this sound rich and new. Why does it sound so good?
because it's emulating the motorola DSP56300 microprocessor that the actual hardware used (and was built around), but it is still surprising no doubt. It eliminates all the translation (from software through compilation to instruction code and machine code optimization layer) that occurs from normal VSTs which have a tendency to do a tiny bit of approximation (but every ms so it adds up) to keep the cpu cycles down and fit nicely on an all purpose intel/apple chip. Basically, someone could code a VST for a specific sound that sounds as good or better if they spent a ton of time that ran a normal cpu, but no one really does (they use libraries). Nord, Waldorf, etc would code to the DSP56300 which they knew would process in the EXACT way and produce bit for bit the EXACT digital output intended. With emulation when we run that code we can get a lot closer than when NI or whoever uses a library to approximate input to one of a few thousand patterns and says the hell with the few bits that get dropped off. There is probably a little loss from optimization even with the emulator but it happens AFTER emulation instead of to the input.

@@OscityEx Yeah, you gotta scan it. I suggest you make a subfolder for OsTIrus and put both files together in the VST3 folder under the Common Files directory just to isolate both files from the rest...just in case. FL Studio is kinda weird when scanning plugins.
I have been looking everywhere but how I exactly can I download the firmware from my TI2 keyboards so I that can use the TI2 emulator. I have successfully installed the Plugins into Logic Pro. But there doesn't seem to be any notes on their website on how to download the firmware from the TI2 or ROMs or whatever else is needed. Hope someone can help. Thanks,
I think you have to install the original Virus Vst software and use it once with your hardware. The firmware .bin file will be in a folder related to the software.

I've compared Osirius with Ostirius and the performance of Ostirius is better than Osirius. CPU usage reported by my DAW says Ostirius is less CPU intensive... I wonder if that's because the firmware is more optimised.
There are huge strides being made over time with each release. If you care about using it or the project at all not only to make a video on a 'new free synth' it pays to be part of the community. Donating to the project will come with perks, like early access. Plus you can have your own input included for possible new features. So many videos but nobody seem to mention it is reskinnable, and many community made skins already exist on the discord.

Might be because of how it offloads buffer processing to separate threads which the DAW can't track. If you change the latency blocks setting to 0 it will report the actual CPU usage
Is this legal to use it? probably no, probably yes. The product (Virus TI - including all components that form the hardware, that includes the firmware) is discontinued, there are not sales or loses. Whatever happens around this item (firmware, physical synth, or both) from now on, will not affect the company financial situation. If I go to the shop with buying a Virus Ti for $2000 in mind, and once in the shop they tell me they dont sell it anymore, I walk out the shop and a guy that I see tells me would you want a firmware of the Virus Ti, and I say yes, thank you. Is the company losing $2000?
Anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong. Attempting to modify a preset, I rename it, then save it as .mid. It shows up in my user menu, but it isn't modified and sounds the same as the original preset that I tried to modify. Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

They not make anything from scratch in terms of audio dsp code, they emulate DSP chip that runs ORIGINAL Virus Ti firmware

The people who coded it had good aesthetic taste in regards to sound.

This has about a million patches depending which Rom or .mid you find.
Saddly it doesn t have portamento.

I have the original ti2 keyboard. Can I transfer the patches I made on the hardware to this software? 🤔
Yes, you can dump patches from your Ti to a midi file via VC software. Then just import them into OsTirus

Just google. I found it on Google and it's working.
Just download the Virus original package and install. Then find the file and copy the firmware to destination
