I think the 2nd pain point only happens on newer Brompton bike. Actually this is also one of the 'improvement' point of Brompton as it allows you to pull up the seat post for rolling around while still locking the rear wheel. In old Brompton bike, the rear wheel will unlock once the seat post is pull up above the stopper. So, you need to strap the wheels to the frame if you want to roll it with saddle pull up.
I understand you want keep the paint nice. ☺️ I wish my Brompton look as good as when I bought but with a lot of use, it has much scratches! Oh well...
Scratches only appear after u change parts into metal, original ones are plastic for a reason… All metal parts should apply grease tine to time preventing rust
As for the frame you can buy those leather protector from the shopee has a lot. As for the folding area can apply a bit of grease on the surface try not to leave it dry those contact surface is important 😄
Some of the paint scratches are a direct result of not folding or unfolding the bike properly. If one drives a car into a wall, they should not complain of the damages. The other ones require helicopter tape or equivalent to protect the paint, which is a bummer or wear and tear.
