Great wee video. Your bike very similar to my 1974 CZ 175cc I owned from march 1977 for around 15 months or so. It was my first ever bike, bought the day I was 17, and I've fond memories of journeys and good times with it. Mine started off cherry red, and ended up a very similar colour to yours. Likewise to the other Scottish person who posted his/her comment mine was also purchased from Ernie Page, an Edinburgh motorcycle dealer. Thanks for the fond memories of my CZ, a great bike for me. Best wishes Ash, Loanhead
Learnt to ride and passed my test in 1976 on a 1974 125 CZ that was fitted with a posilube system which mixed the 2 stroke oil with the fuel in the cylinder. I did thousands of miles on this bike to and from my apprentice training centre and after. Generally it was very reliable. Could be difficult to start in cold weather and the posilube system had a powerful spring which caused too much strain on the throttle cable at the point it joined the throttle grip. Always had a replacement taped in beside the working one, they rarely lasted beyond 4000 miles despite regular greasing. The bike went the Girlfriend became the wife. Still have the wife so i guess it was a good trade.
Wonderful! I had a CZ 175 in the early 1980s, very similar to yours but with a round fuel tank. It was a bugger to get started, but once it was running it was unstoppable. I rode that thing everywhere; up mountains, through rivers, I must have put 5,000 miles on it. I love the clever gear pedal that doubles as the kick-starter, and the automatic clutch operated by a cam and a pushrod going through the crankcase. It's a simple but brilliant design.
Same here - bright yellow from Ernie Page Motorcycles in Edinburgh. Cost either £293 or £393 - on hp as I'd not long started work. Tough but not the fastest 175 trail bike - didn't much care for headwinds! 😂 Great memories.
@@Hunzarbigots Wow, I'd one too, bought mine second hand from Ernie Page, Yeaman Place, 19th March 1977, the day I was 17. Can't remember how much I paid, but, for me it was a great bike, even though it wasn't 'the cutting edge of fashion'. Of the 4 or 5 bikes I had between 17 and 19, fortunately it's the only one I have a photo of. I used it every day, rain hail or shine for 15 months or so. It was an N reg, 1974, very fond memories of my first ever motorbike, and it was so much faster than my pushbike. I still stay in Loanhead although 'a wee bit longer in the tooth noo'. Great reminiscing watching the wee video, although mine didn't have the posh indicators. Best wishes, Ash fi Loanheed
I had the use of a CZ175 in the mid 70s which could also be a swine to start, mainly in cold weather. After 20 minutes jumping up and down on the starter lever, I'd sometimes give up and get the bus. Eventually I found a very simple cure - I'd light an old fashioned paraffin lamp under the engine block half an hour before I wanted to depart, which would warm up the engine block, and the bike then always started first kick. Very reliable after that. Happy memories of Saturday jaunts putt-putting down to Box Hill and back from Fulham.😀
Wow! I bought a two tone green non-runner, turned out it was the points. Spruced her up, MOT and kept her on the road for 5 years until the geabox blew apart, she ticked over exactly the same as this beauty!
No one could figure out how to work one of these and so I bought it for a couple hundred dollars and fixed it all up, had a ride and was staggered by the unique feeling and handling. Like no bike I had ever ridden before. Ended up selling it to a Czech guy and made a nice profit but I always kinda sorta missed it.. lol
My first Bike back in 1974 mine was the same colour 125cc I wish I had paid a bit more and got the 175cc it was slow up hills and On windy days I love two stroke engines
My first bike was a blue CZ 175 easy to work on rugged and dependable but hard to start..it would either start on the second kick or it wouldnt start..but I just put it in second gear and ran along the pavement and it would start OK The key was like a headphone jack plug and the bike could be started with a 6" nail.. which is exactly what happened when some one stole it and wrecked it in 1979
I have a 1973 175, brown and yellow that I know nothing about. It starts and runs but I do not have a title for it. I was thinking of riding vintage cross country events on it but wasn't sure if I should put the 21" front wheel on it and the Trail model pipe or not. It is almost as good of condition as yours. Any info and / or advice about this bike would be greatly appreciated and roughly what it is worth as in just leave it stock or modify it? Thank you. You have a beautiful bike.

My Grandad was a fan of the CZ175, he owned 3 that i know of, his last was a 1983 in black, it had low mileage and it wasn`t used much.
Got mine in 1978. Great bike. Battery wouldn't charge - tried everything - until I took off the corroded horn button and cleaned it. Served me well.

Had a blue one identical to this in 1977. My first bike. Great , reliable little bike.
побачив вперше !!! ЧЗ завжди унікальні мотоцикли ( на жаль в мою країну не продавались)) хотів би такий для колекції
В республиках СССР где продавались явы наверняка и были в продаже чз, так как чешская торговая компания была одна.

Lanko nebylo potřeba měnit, stačilo ho správně seřídit aby nebylo napnuté,nebo aby se nikde nelámalo, pak vydrželo xxtisíc km 👍
Had one of these in the 70’s hated it, wanted an RD 250 but couldn’t afford it on £16.50 per week.

Take your time, read about it on the internet and slowly try to find new parts. Maybe on Czech or Polish sites they would have a few?
