    Tenaris is an ancient connector, but well proven. Possibly up 30 years + that thread form connector. Nice video.

    What is the reason for the bushing that is threaded into the upper thread of the casing joint? Unscrewing it after the CRT releases the joint seems to take a lot of time and put the roughnecks in a dangerous position under the blocks.

      We are running Tenaris Blue in this case, which is a premium connection. The safety nubbin prevents the threads from being damaged when the CRT enters the coupling. It also provides additional friction for the tool to engage/disengage.

      Tanaris is just a soft thread that expands with heat

    What are they doing? Normally CRT using instead of Power tongs. But here they are using both.

      In this case the customer did not want to run the casing with the CRT, they wanted it for rotating, reciprocating and handling in case we hit any bridges on the way down.

      Pierre Berube but looks like this costumer does not know the capabilities of a CRTi, you can actually reciprocate, make up connections and will be better than using tongs, as you will have a safer operation

    Thats good no elevator but later when theres big weight they will for sure need a spider in the rotary and the crt will be only helpfull for lifting casing and filling up and circulating maybe also its good because they can go down more than if they were using elevator also i think they would have changed the tong if they cannot go down more and use tong with no backup

    Im honestly amazed that these CRt's are popular,
    they are really slow compared to elevators and power tongs

    • @nunyabizness8539
      @nunyabizness8539 5 років тому

      Jarred Leis slower than elevators yes, but with a Volont tool, you can rotate the casing in the hole.

    Best not Dope (Lubricant) tool joints with tools in the rotary table! - Drop the brush and you will be going home early.
