i attempted to live in plano last summer. childcare was 400 a week on the cheap end. where im from daycare is about 165 a week. this is the main reason i had to leave. property taxes are the same as in southern IL and so is gas. but that daycare bill is like another rent payment. couldnt do it.
Man I'm from Central IL and the home prices in DFW are literally 3x more. Plus, the no income tax this is eliminated by low wages and a lack of union jobs with bargaining rights.

Tolls are dependant on where you live. They tend to be in higher priced areas. Property taxes are higher, but you cant write off income tax on your tax returns. If you understand the Tax Game you can use the property tax to offset what you end up paying uncle Sam.Which makes it wash. If you don't understand the tax game than yea..... its higher.

It’s a smooth 25 mile 25 minute drive one way. You’ll be on the tollway so paying probably at least $5 each way. Traffic shouldn’t really be an issue tho

i lived in plano and my job was in irving. its not much traffic at all. it was a breeze. about a 20 min drive. not too many people are going that way in the morning. the ride home was rough as you get closer to plano. took about 35 mins to get home

I want to move to Dallas from California and it’s been set in my heart for years now to move to the Plano area… but I can’t help but starting to feel like it’s getting too expensive and like I missed my window, here in California I can’t afford a home a may never be able too, I big reason I would move to the Dallas area would to be able to own a home... also not to mention I don’t want to move there just for it to eventually become like Los Angeles as far as traffic/ pollution/ population, crime/trash/ homeless. Born and raised tx, lived in plano twice, currently live in pnw north of Seattle and its stupid expensive up here and everything is lower quality, trash along the highway, nothing is mowed or up kept, taxed to death for everything but everything is falling apart and never gets any of that tax money spent on it, crappy rude people everywhere, $1500 a month day care, almost $5 a gallon for gas, crappy restaurant with ok food 2 burgers 2 beers $85 without tip, there is zero culture up here and its end of june early july and its still raining 😢... Im trying to get out of the dumpster fire but it cant happen soon enough

I moved to TX in 2013. My Rent, including ALL utilities was around $780-$800 for a 1 bedroom around 900sqft I checked what the current rent price is now in 2024… $1,400 not including utilities.
Dallas Texas is definitely not for low income folks. Yeah there is section 8 housing in every state but being on section 8 is not ideal especially in a place like Dallas. California is definitely not for low income families either. If you make $75k and up then Dallas, Austin and Houston is perfect for you!

Honestly yes you pay higher property tax in Texas percentage wise look at the space you get. In nyc you pay 1.79% which ends up roughly $2000 lower you get a house build in the size of a pencil to hear your neighbors talking shit and other activities.

There’s a huge Hispanic population in SB, which is cool because the majority of SB is
