I’m not far in and it’s already crack. And I know there’s still subsystems and even more weapons to unlock 🫨 I haven’t had this much fun just grinding unlocks in a long time. Edit: I really agree with you. They can’t get overzealous and crank out too many titles now. Instead, take their time and build iterations on top of this baseline and it’s sure to succeed.
Dynasty Warriors Origins is one beautiful game to start the year off with. The visuals are brought to current gen without compromising on the series style and art direction by focusing on hyper realism. The world minimap is so charming, we need more modern JRPGs to embrace them. Few games scream classic 2000s game design more than a good ol musou, but it’s not afraid to try new things out if it would make it more fun. It’s good to see this game get such high praises from so many people, there’s still a place in the market for more fun games like these.

I really hope they go through the whole story this way. I have no problems with not playing as the other characters. We have been play as them for years and it was just nice to play as a new character though. I always liked just fighting alongside my favorite characters more. I would love it if they removed the companions and let us level up and customize the loadouts of our troops like the bodyguards in D4.I had a problem halfway through the Wei story. I started to not enjoy interacting with the other characters because I kept feeling like they were going to romance me for too many cutscenes🤣. Two of them didn't have me thinking that way in Wei. I didn't even bother with the bond system in my Wu playthrough and probably won't for Shu. Maybe later in my next playthroughs.
I have to disagree about 80+ characters being a boon to the series. It's hard to balance so many characters and probably contributed to just rehashing things. For me, it's the fact this character is a bystander so why limit us to just this guy? Why not at least give a female character option? There was nothing good about DW9 though? I watched someone's video on their top characters and a few were new characters in DW9 that I thought looked and had pretty cool backstories. I want to try it out for myself now.

Yes the rpg/story aspect of the game has made this Dynasty Warrior a fun addicting romp. Shit is practically Kingdom! Would love more modes, vs & co-op mode, costumes and playable characters. Hopefully KOEI and Bandai have some dlc planned!
As a standalone spinoff it's pretty good with the highlights being the Gameplay and the intimate depth of story. Although anyone comparing it to 8 Xtreme Legends will know that it has flaws.
As well as revealing 8 xtreme legends flaws. The game relies heavily on the amount of content it has to hide its boring easy difficulty and stale gameplay combat. It is a good game but it is not the top Dynasty Warriors game people like to think it is.
This game feels like the true successor to Dynasty Warriors 5 Extreme Legends. Which up until now was my favorite. I’d love to see them add an Extreme DLC mode like DW Extreme legends had.
Personally, and I dont say this too lightly... I'd rather see a full price expansion. 9 new weapons, 9 new companions, the 3 Kingdoms Chaos up till their falls (Yi Ling/Wu Zhang Plains) with Hypothetical scenarios for each Kingdoms victory and the characters of the later era... I'd wait 2 years if thats what it took. I'd much rather see that then typical Koei microtransactions.
I tried DW9 and didn't care for it (glad I only played the demo and not get the full game), tho I enjoyed the other warrior games (Dynasty, Orochi, Samurai, and the Zelda versions) Got Origins and been having a lot of fun, and hope the next ones continue to improve more and be good. Koei Tecmo keep it up
This is by far one of the worst. Idc about RPG without character development or at the very least let me pick someone else… I don’t want to be forced to play as someone In a game series famed for characters and development. At this point just make a spin off…
I have played dynasty warriors all my life but I haven’t purchased this one. For me what made dynasty warriors so interesting was being able to play as the unique characters. I was sooo hoping for Dynasty Warriors 10 - that said, I am glad to see things taking a positive turn for the franchise. I just hope they don’t go with an Origins sequel over DW10. Imo DW8XL was a near perfect game. I would want DW10 to be as close to that as possible in terms of gameplay/unique weapons/English voice actors/multiplayer (although could be better synced) etc. Just add all the DW9 characters who haven’t had a time to shine in a decent game & expand on the great foundations 8XL already has and that could be the best Dynasty Warriors game ever! 🙌🏻
It’s a great game but it has flaws. The whole thing with all the Female characters hitting on the protagonist was off putting, if someone is a new to the series it takes away from the story between Lu Bu and Dian Chan. Also I feel the voice directed was off, about 4 characters names were being pronounced wrongly, gone back to the times when “Cao Cao” was being called “Cow Cow” also way to much weapon cloning. Again great game but with flaws.
I would give it a 7.5/10. The gameplay is really good. At first I it was a solid 8.5/10. Seeing Lu Bu attacked Dian Chan was really strange and now “Lu Bu” is “Louie Bu” well that’s that closest I can get to what they are calling him

I don't mind not being able to play as the full roster of Dynasty Warriors. This game is phenomenal in its current form. We may get DLC. We get more content but as it stands, We Are Back Baby!!! I started with DW3 and loved DW ever since and this game has taken my heart and it can keep it! I love this game so much!!!!
Have never really been a dynasty warriors fan have never played one. I have only played one Dynasty warriors like game(Persona 5 Strikers) which i actually did like now that i am playing Tales of Graces F remastered i don't know if i will get to the demo but i am at least mildly interested.
Hopefully with the positivity, we can get a normal dw game with all of our favorite characters. Its a fun game, would just be nice if we could choose from a roster we grew up to. What was wrong with dw5. You said it hasnt gained respect since 4?
I'm near past Chapter 1 of this game, and yeah this game is hitting the right notes, and does feel what the Series needed. The Yakuza 0 metaphor is on the money. A good soft reset to scale back a bit, focus on the core gameplay and what to do to push the series forward for newcomers and also adhere prior games issues for veterans, and with strong reviews and a good playercount on Steam. My only hope is Omega Force and Koei Tecmo, take what worked in Origins and didn't it, improve upon it for Dynasty Warriors 10. Build upon it, innovate. Don't have to even entirely go from scratch and scrap everything for it, it's even okay to reuse a bit of assets, and systems that people like and refine the jank, trim the fat
DYNASTY WARRIORS NEXT got me into Mosou games. I've played alot off the spin offs but besides NEXT I didn't even like 8. It felt like all content with no substance. ORIGINS on the other hand feels like the finally hit the nail. Now we just need the characters some more content and maybe the followup to ORIGINS in a few years time.
I'm not a veteran fan of the franchise. I tried the demo, fallen in love with this game and I've bought the full game having a lot of fun with it. I think that they just need to add the possibility to play all the heroes and a coop offline/online mode. This would make this game even better!
This game would’ve been an easy 10/10 if I could actually pick characters I loved in the older games it becomes an instant 5/10 forcing people to play as one character and 0 character creation
Little bit harsh saying they’ve gained no respect since dynasty warriors 4, it was definitely 5 that was their peek. 5 also delivered the best empires game we ever got.

As a new fan I’ve enjoyed every single second of this game. I’ve had my eyes on earlier titles, but they never truly interested me other than the time period. Gameplay seemed boring (Especially 6-9) and the story in the first few titles was lacking massively. This game has it and I’m excited to see where Koei goes with this.

The game is refreshing, reminds me my first time playing dynasty warrior 3 from ps2.

Imo DW8XL was a near perfect game. You can’t deny DW4 was the peak popularity of the series though. The genre started getting bashed after that for being samey.

This game is goated. Dw 9 was a disaster.
Nothing else is out. Game releases and a movie releases are being slowed down to maximize product revenue.
