I experienced dust and sand storms in the Middle East, so I have an idea.

@@SusanHolbert I'm from New York but I have seen TV shows about them. Animals, people and children died from breathing it in. Dust pneumonia. The dust covered everything inside their houses. Dust was everywhere and went on for years and years. It was caused from decades of farming the Midwest causing all of this loose soil. They changed how they plowed the soil which ended it.

@@susanb2015 Yes, I have seen shows about the dust storms, too. When I lived, and worked in the Middle East, we breathed in dust and sand. It gets into everything. The base doctor put me on medication, and an inhaler.

@@SusanHolbert That must be awful. I saw a big sand storm in the movie the English Patient.

@@susanb2015 It was bad. We had 6 dust and sand storms in a two week period. And, we were constantly cleaning dust out of our living quarters. When you see the storms coming at you it's very disconcerting.

So where were all the immigrants that came from Mexico ? Why didn't history teach us about those who worked during the great depression , and who served in ww1 and ww2? All we hear about is how work was hard to find and manufacturing strikes and war with Germany and Japan and Korean, but we didn't hear anything about Mexican men fighting in ww1 and black men was able to join in ww1 and ww2 but they couldn't fight until Korean war .

In spite of these dispiriting obstacles, African Americans fought with distinction in every theater of the war. Some of the more famous Black units included the 332nd Fighter Group, which shot down 112 enemy planes during the course of 179 bomber escort missions over Europe, and the 761st Tank Battalion, which served in General George S. Patton’s Third Army. Major General Willard S. Paul, of the 26th Division, singled out the 761st for special praise after its first action in France by writing, “I consider the 761st Tank Battalion to have entered combat with such conspicuous courage and success as to warrant special commendation.”

What we’re taught and what we learn on our own are two different ballgames. I’ll always prefer the latter.
