"We are all Americans in this country, but we are not all apart the LGBT" What world are they living in? I get it not everyone is LGBTQ+, but not everyone in America is American there is a huge mix of different races and cultures here.
Literally they forget how many races live here. Everyone comes from different backgrounds all over the world and they come here to follow a dream they could not do in their past living circumstances. They also forget how many people were taken from their homes as well for peoples selfishness and greed. Those people didn’t have a choice.
Ok so im a gen z, i am not American and i dont even plan to move to US, but i disagree with ur comment . Here in Italy we dont have such thing as pledge ,but i feel like its a great way of honoring ur country especially when its so diverse because it gives a sense of unity(?), i dont think a pride flag is needed because it has to do with sexual orientation which is more personal .
I appreciate the teachers who do this. My science teacher at the beginning of the year asked for everyone’s pronouns. She also has a sign outside her door that says “safe zone” with a rainbow pattern in the back. It’s just respectful
You can be respectful, without politicizing the classroom. That's the main issue here. And how many people in your classroom actually used any gender neutral pronouns?
We were meant to start a club but a parent complained about making the straights uncomfortable because a teacher had a pride flag in his class and now we aren’t allowed have anything rainbow,, fucking adults always have to ruin everything/hj
They’re little kids they don’t know what they where pledging two they just wanted a flag to pledge to, how would they know what choice they are making.

@@Best-vb2om and I agree but they don’t know what the flag means and that is no excuse to not have the American flag in the classroom there are so many ppl trying to get into this country for a better life and she is sitting there saying the flag makes her uncomfortable
@@Kay_Atee Exactly. Almost every single teacher that I've had through out all my school year, including in my high school rn talk about their husbands and wives and don't find it a problem
wdym breathing? what this teacher did was fucked up. she took time out of her day to tell millions something extremely controversial, ofc she cant expect everyone to agree with her.
if you want all of your students to feel safe and included in their beliefs, she should just put both flags in her classroom. it's really not that hard.
At my school, there are signs all over the place that show that they are LGBTQ+ supportive, and several teachers have rainbow flags in their classrooms. I can't think of a teacher who doesn't ask for preferred pronouns and names. It really does help to have that type of support, especially when you're a kid. No one presses any sexuality or gender onto anyone and I wish people wouldn't see having an LGBTQ+ flag in a classroom as pushing it onto kids.
Seriously tho people act like kids are stupid and don't understand such things and that we'll "push it" on kids with pride flags, like, that's the same as saying you can force heterosexuality on kids too, which happens all the time but no one is bothered by it, but as soon as it's about the LGBTQIA+, everyone starts to complain. Just to show their inner homophobia tbh, i wish i could be able to put pride flags in school without getting harassed about it.
The main problem would be with the teacher not 'supporting' the country. I can see why people are upset but making homophobic comments on the situation is unacceptable. To be completely honest homophobia is everywhere these days. It's something that is quite concerning since this could affect children who might want to explore their Sexuality. But of course this is my opinion and you are entitled to yours. As someone who is bisexual and not American I would say why many people are upset but don't be homophobic.
@@missl.2113 It is your choice to respect your flag aswell as your independence day. Some people might not agree with your values and that is their choice. My main problem with the situation was the amount of homophobia displayed, but forcing beliefs on others or potentially gaslighting them is unacceptable. But of course it doesn't mean you are gaslighting, just meant for people who actually are.
Personally I find that it’s fine, she said “you could/if you wanted to. That’s not trying to force them to, and it does not really matter if she has the American flag in there? And it makes people feel welcomed if there apart of the LGBTQ+ community
Yes replacing a country flag that people fought to make it free with a pride flag is really fine! I wonder what your past presidents like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln etc would think 🤔
having an LGBTQ flag in a classroom is completely fine, but the disrespect of our national anthem and our countries flag (which represents every american citizen) is not okay.
I'm not American but in my country we sing the hymn every morning when entering and afternoon when leaving the school, it's mostly a fun moment where kids have a good time while 2 random classmates take the flag up. But those clips of kids literally crying while pledging allegiance and them bullying kids who don't gives me cult vibes(especially with the adults going nuts because "how come they can choose not to pledge? If you don't like it then you don't belong here"). And the teacher should've put the flag on her desk (or anywhere in the classroom tbh) but not tell kids to pledge allegiance to it since it's not the country flag
@@HABILOBBY nope, LGBTQ+ people should be respected as human beings, it's just that the flag shouldn't be used like a country flag since it gives off kind of what oli London did with the Korean flag except that she replaced it with a whole new one while they changed the design of one. She just should've put it in a visible place in the classroom and not give it the same meaning as a country flag (by same meaning i mean giving it a pledge and all that)
Yeah I agree I'm british and in primary school we sing hyms and stuff but we never dite the national anthem unless its rememberance day or something and we don't really have flags up unless its the Olympics or something. Having a load of kids pledge allegience from an age when they don't even know what a country is does sound a bit cultish if kids get mocked for not doing it Idk its just weird to me that people get upset over a flag in a school. Most schools here have loads of posters about mental health awearness, respecting religions and the lgbtq+ community so why do americains make a fuss about everything

Can't lie. I'm bi and I do NOT feel safe in the community. It's very toxic. Many of us don't feel safe in it. Many gay and trans youtubers have even publicly said they are not a part of the community for similar reasons.
Yes I agree but I still think there should be the American flag up there to pledge to I have to problem with the LGBTQIA+ community but having both flags will respect soldiers sacrifices and people part of the LGBTQIA+. This is just my opinion I do not wish to upset anyone
I love how these people say “if I were a teacher I would make my students stand for the pledge, and if you don’t want to move to a different country”. It’s not like some of us have different religious beliefs that make us not be able to pledge to the flag. We live in a country where we have religious freedom and forcing to pledge is against my rights. Does that mean I don’t value what veterans and soldiers do for our country? absolutely not, but some people aren’t ready to have that convo.
Personally if it’s against your religion I’m not gonna get mad at you but you can’t say you just don’t feel like standing I find that very offensive since I have family members who died in the army but if it’s against your religion this is the land of the free
@@justdontask2716 My math teacher last year stopped standing for the pledge and one kid asked her why and she said because she just didn’t feel like getting up and half of the kids in that class had somebody that they knew her a family member that died in the army so it was so freaking disrespectful so we told her if she can’t respect us we won’t respect her we got her suspended
True. There’s an atheist kid in my home room, and no one really likes him too much so it was kind of risky for him to do this, but I respect him for it. He sat down during the pledge and a teacher asked him why he wasn’t standing and he just said he didn’t have to, she just kinda agreed and said “well fair”.
Being from the UK I've never understood why they have to do that , yeah you can be proud of your country and where you're from but that just seems a bit much to me, and making kids do it in school too. And even as kids we were never forced to recite it and we would do it only once a week on monday, thats it. Like i would always just stand there and wait for it to finish. The funny thing is that some kids would be screaming the lyrics, while others would still be sleepy and annoyed and otgers just chanting or talking with their friends. As a Christian and proud American, I do think the teacher was rightfully punished by being fired. I do hope she finds another school to teach at but getting rid of the American flag and having minors pledge to the pride flag is honestly disgusting. In the Bible it says homosexuality is a sin and I don’t hate people for being LGBTQ but I don’t respect it or support it because it’s not natural or right. And I can’t believe that literal young students are LGBTQ it’s honestly disgusting and the parents are stupid. That’s my view (keep in mind that I’m 11)
As a queer person I love how she had the flag in her room, it can really make people just feel safe and welcomed! i feel like those students should be able to believe whatever they want, and be able to abide by those beliefs as long as it isn’t physically harming anyone. i agree with the teacher. isnt america supposed to be “land of the free”? and doesnt that mean we get to have our own opinions and not have beliefs forced on us?
Yes, exactly meaning she should leave up the American flag as well so both are in the room not just the one she supports. The children should have both flags up so they can choose for themselves which flag they want to stand for or both. They have that right to choose for themselves but she took that from them by taking out one of the options & left hers as the only option to choose from. That's not ok. It's "you can stand for the pride flag or don't stand at all" not caring if the child wants to stand for the American flag!? She clearly didn't care about what the child wanted. She laughed when he asked about the flag & said she lied to him & won't be putting it bk up even tho he clearly wanted it. That's disgusting, she took away his freedom to choose. She is also forcing her own beliefs on to those children as her beliefs in what the flag represents is the only option she gave them. She is a hypocrite. She only cared about how the American flag made her feel but didn't think once about how the children felt. That's how it see it. We have rights & the freedom to choose & no one should ever try to take that away from us especially our children!
My opinion: I feel that it’s right for her to be hanging up the pride flag as it helps students feel at home and make them feel more confident and happy about their sexuality. But,I feel that it’s wrong of her to put down the American flag as it shows the disrespect towards the country itself.I understand that she was uncomfortable about the flag being there but she could’ve informed a staff/colleague about the flag going missing or buy a new flag if possible.I am speaking this as a pansexual Singaporean who understands that your country is your home and you must respect it. Conclusion: Basically, the teacher doesn’t deserve to lose her job just because people don’t like the fact that she helped people understand the LGBTQ+ by hanging up a flag and letting her students choose whether they want to support and respect or not.She deserves her job and she deserves to have her own say in this situation.
I agree. Pride flags do belong in classrooms. But she should’ve kept both the pride and American flag up. But just make it a choice if people want to stand or not.
I agree pride flags should be allowed a flag can’t change a kids sexuality. The only problem is that u shouldn’t pledge too it that’s not what it’s for.
The fact they are even allowed to have those “flags” in the classroom is disgusting. Especially pledging to that dumb flag with no meaning. They should be required to have an American flag and American flag ONLY and only pledge to it.

The pledge of allegiance isn’t just to symbolize your respect for your country but to respect everyone who fought in war FOR the country, so her putting it down kinda bothers me. I do respect that she lets the students decide to participate tho… it’s her decision and everyone else should mind their business
This is just stupid. Imagine getting cancelled just because someone decided to pledge to the Pride flag because the didn't have the American flag. As a German person, the whole concept of pledging allegiance to a flag is so strange. Patriotism is just not the way to go (and is a big no no in Germany for obvious reasons), no one should be required to pledge allegiance to any country. You want me to respect homophobic peoples opinions when they can’t even respect others peoples sexuality. I’m a bisexual girl and I do respect others opinion but why respect their opinions when they can’t respect us as a community and as people of this world too.
As a queer student in a school where lgbtq harassment is common I feel like the teachers should be able to raise awareness on the situation and be able to hang up flags/signs that freely display that its okay to be lgbtq, not only teaching lgbtq students that they are valid, but teaching the other students that the lgbtq is human too and doesn't deserve harassment. I really wish my school would raise more awareness on that situation for the main reason that all the students are in it together, everyone's learning the same material, everyone's leaving school at the same time, beginning school at the same time, and peoples sexuality or identities shouldn't matter to others. Everyone should have a mindset where you treat people how you would like to be treated and only look to see if a person is kind or not, don't judge someone based off their pronouns or sexuality. Sorry for the long rant, if it makes no since i just typed in the moment :)
I like how her face looks stern when she says to “keep it respectful”. Anna is awesome. She’s taking over this platform with her true crime, mysteries, and scary stories along will all the tea. Badass.
I’m fine with LGBTQIA+ flag being in a class room but I was taught that you always at least stand up for the flag to honor those who fallen in war. I think the teacher was wrong for disrespecting the fallen of war but I don’t think it’s a problem for a pride flag being in the class room.
Exactly this is not about being transphobic or politics, it’s about showing respect to the soldiers Idk if you say it for not but standing is just showing respect.
She didn’t disrespect the ones who have fallen in war. She just had a pride flag in her room and a student wanted to pledge on it and she said they didn’t have to pledge on it and at my school nobody has to either so I pray to the gays, they teach you about war in class and you feel bad get over it they died but they are in a better place
@@jackwalten1592 It’s not about saying the pledge I never said that. I’m saying she’s disrespecting the fallen of war because in the video she treats the whole thing like a joke. It feels like she is mocking the American flag. Also I never said I had a problem with the pride flag cause I’m part of the community too. The kid said it was weird not pledging allegiance to the American flag even though he does not say that exactly it is implied. Just because you feel like something is not a big deal doesn’t mean you shouldn’t at least honor the people who died. Just because we learn about it in school doesn’t mean anything either. Schools cover timelines and events of the war by taking time for a moment of silence we are honoring them. It’s a simple thing of just standing for the flag
yeah it's sad that people can't realize she was in the wrong i mean sure her intentions where in the right but why not have both flags up with that not truly mean your accepted or am I lost here.
I understand where the people against what she did are coming from, but even as an American, I don’t see the big deal in letting the students pledge to the pride flag or giving them the option to pledge how they want. I do think it can be disrespectful to take down the American flag and then not get a new one when she couldn’t find it, but I personally think people are overreacting. It’s very important to make students a part of the LGBTQ+ community feel comfortable and accepted, and putting up a pride flag in a classroom does no harm to anyone. Just because you don’t agree with someone, that’s doesn’t mean that you have to get them fired from their job just to prove your point.

I hate how this teacher could do this! The pride flag is NOT a replacement for the American flag! I'm a bit annoyed that people can call people homophobic this easily, it is unprofessional to have another flag in a classroom no matter what it is.
I personally and respectfully disagree with your statement I believe having a pride flag is good because any student that is part of the LGBT community will know that they are not alone and the school is a safe space to be themselves and that they are normal human beings who deserve to be loved and cared for just like straight students.
