One of the great albums of the 80s, Madness at their peak. This album has never got the recognition it deserves
Beautiful, and the brass band at the end makes it amazing and haunting.
The whole album was a master piece, love this song.
One of my favorite bass lines to play!
Bedders is an amazing bass player!
I was forever playing this excellent album. This was definitely one of the standout tracks.
One of my favourite songs as a kid in the 80s. Drove down Primrose Hill for the first time ever tonight in my coach - I'm not a londoner. Was a poignant moment. Couldn't resist singing the tune, of course. (Don't worry, I'd just dropped my passengers round the corner in King Henry's Rd.)
I hope I'll visit GB one day!
Considering Madness' last 3 albums, this was such a brave one to release because it is tonally darker and a lot more different
This with Folgate is my favourite Madness song ever
influences of Sgt.Peppers.
A great band, still alive because of this timeless music
Although I've never been there I wish I was there still. -------I am so in love with this song. Greeetings from Argentina
Greetings my friend from the an English man forget the past we love you all
Marcus Sewell👍
* beats the shit out of you over a pebble in the pond *
The best and bravest Madness album, not that everybody saw that at the time... The band were moving faster than some of the fans could cope with, but the best bands always move on. Would have loved to see this as a single.
This is a very good song, however, I think Blue Skinned Beast should have been a single instead of tomorrow’s just another day
This reminds me of so much of my childhood .. we were freeeee.
My favourite album, I understand The Kink's Influence
The Kinks are my favorite band of all time. Madness is merely my favorite band of the last 50 years. Their best album, but not given a full release here (Yankdom). One of my girlfriend's buds in North London almost fell over when I could recite "Hey you, don't watch that,..."...
Their greatest album. The only album I would listen to on my paper round
I could listen to the part from 2:33 to 3:04 in loop for a full hour
Brilliant album. I got this back in the winter of '82 (on vinyl obviously!) as a 13 year old, full of zits and testosterone. Inspired me to use my pocket money on some fingerless gloves! Thank you Madness.
Me too although I was 14 at the time and yes those fingerless gloves 😂
I know it off by heart
album madness number one ❤❤❤❤❤ yes yes
And the hits just keep on coming!
Bravo Madness!
It really is something special.
The brass at the end sort of reminds me of That's Life theme tune 😜
@@davidwakefield67 Jesus, I think you've ruined the song for me. Thanks!!
Choon
This was also their best album cover
This was their 4th album in 4 years, everyone is completely different from the last. Very little filler on any of them.
great (brit) pop music : nothing else
Lyrics:
A man opened his window and stared up Primrose Hill
Out there enjoying themselves I've seen them from this sill
Green splashed with white and red going brown
Children baiting animals running up and down
I stare out of this window
See the world go past
Slipping from the newspapers stacked against the wall
Piles of colour supplements squeeze between his fall
For a fleeting second I was up that hill
Although I've never been there I wish I was there still
I stare out of this window
See the world go past
I've read and looked at everything
I know it off by heart

Deliveries every day newspapers and food
Never had to venture out the phone has been removed
Open up the window and stare up Primrose Hill
Sitting here it's dark outside and everything is still
I stare out of this window
See the world go past
I've read and looked at everything
I know it off by heart
