Soaring instrumentation...soaring emotions. Add in his "singing" guitars and gruff deeply rich voice and I'm in a special place where I want to stay.. Chris certainly sets me free with his songs! Thanks for watching! 🥰
Thank you for reviewing these, I used to see Chris and his band in concert in the 80’s and I was always knocked out by his live performances. So glad you are enjoying his music keep on reviewing you have an old head on young shoulders.
After YES, CHRIS REA? Wow! It's all good for me. REA is "blues rock 'n' road" at its best; to listen to while driving straight ahead, without hindrance, in complete freedom. Thanks.
Hi Brandon. Wasn't familiar with Chris Rea before, nice feel, smooth with a kind of progression, great voice (reminds me John Paar or Paul Brady somehow, check it out), flying guitars, good rock for sure with some grandiose. As a I said I certainly heard about him, but didn't heard seriously. Thanks for this listening together, it's always a fine moment, stunning discovery.
So soul stirring. Chris's guitar work on "Set Me Free" reminds me of Mark Knoffler/Dire Straits, both master class musicians, alchemists of the first order.
Recently saw Chris with Joe Bonamassa, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton at Royal Albert Hall. Eric "deferred to them as if to say "you got this". Awesome moment. ❤
Nice songs, I hadn't heard either before that I recall. I liked Set Me Free the best, for it's dynamics and it formed a "bigger landscape" in my mind, more epic. 😎👍
" Texas " weirdly reminded me of Dire Straits' " Planet of New Orleans " for a wee bit in the beginning(before it settled into the usual Chris Rea talking blues with a dash of ZZ Top style). Excellent " Set Me Free " : The strings and brass (the organ is heavenly)brought this up from run-of-the-mill ...the electric guitar...dare I say David Gilmour-esque? Quite the ride
Great catch there! Another reason I loved Texas. SMF quite the ride indeed. I will elevate, sway and flow to that amazing song anytime! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far...
Wow, wow, wow!! I loved both of these Chris Rea masterpieces! I’m so glad you found the later version of “Texas”, although the earlier version is good as well. I loved the “dirty” slide guitar in sections, and as you also stated, the build up you get throughout. “Set Me Free” is an incredible song, Chris is definitely a master of his slide guitar! There is a great live version of “Texas” on UA-cam. When he comes up in the rotation again, I highly recommend “Workin’ On It”, which is a banger! Happy weekend my friend!😊
Great! I knew he's one artist that you give a big thumbs up to. Thanks for the reminder on WOI. When I peruse his album lists, I'm tempted to play every one, especially with all those great song titles 😌 Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend and week ahead...
It’s unfortunate for us that he’s never toured the states. I would have loved to see him live back in the day. I hope you do get a chance to watch “Texas” live on UA-cam….the one I’ve seen is great!
Nice review Brandon, yeh, so good to hear Chris R 🎸again - good song choices - he's so laid back yet at the same time fully in charge isn't he? You've featured a few 70's breakthrough British artistes recently; may I suggest you give Level 42 a listen? As a pro musician, I was both amazed and influenced by their wonderful original Jazz/pop/funk harmonies and musicianship - I promise you'll not be disappointed! Try 'Something About You', Leaving Me Now, Lessons In Love and Tracie for starters. Cheers. 🍏
I am not sure what you meant because he talks through virtually all his songs. 🤔 His stuff always seems to stay in his comfort zone e.g. slide guitar. It is not that it is bad, but his repertoire is samey. It is hard to listen to several songs in a row.
@@ianmcgrath4170 That is rather discourteous. I was giving my view. Just because you have a different view does not mean 'I do not have a clue'. Ask yourself, does Steve Hackett overuse tapping? Better still, does David Gilmour overuse slide guitar? In contrast, Chris Rea is rather formulaic. He is not a great guitarist in my opinion.
I have met Nad Sylvan and Steve Hackett in Glasgow as i am a sound engineer and also a session guitarist,Steve Hackett stays on the same venture most of the time,as for Chris i have met him also,Chris has 28 studio albums,i take it you have not heard his blues, from 1978 until 2015,Every album is different,as with many other artists, their music stays the same.

Really glad you reacted to "Texas". Not just because I'm from Texas, but because of fond memories of that song many years ago.
"That was not a song, that was an experience". Couldn't have said it better my self regarding "Set Me Free".
Thanks! As you saw, I was SO into that wonderful "experience" 😊 Thanks so much for watching!
Is it to phenomenal song love and tremendous I was looking at it and I don’t see that you did auberge yet you need to it’s really really special

Sensational second track Brandon. Should have been a single.
Yes, I think it should have as well.. Well, in my head it is! Thanks for watchin my friend...

A nice back to back for sure! Basically every day here is a rewarding treat for me 😊 Hope you're enjoying the weekend..

Hi. You said it all! Every single song I've heard from him has been stellar.. I'm sure they all are! Happy Sunday 😊
amazing buildup so relaxed at the start and almost in a Panick attak at the end
YES!! I'm sure you saw all the bliss and exuberance transfer from the song to my face haha! 😌
@@retroreactions....was a pleasure to watch

Hi Mary. WOW, now THAT'S a lineup! Must have been an amazing night. Thanks so much for stopping by...

Oh great! Yes, we def agree on Set Me Free. I appreciate all your support my friend! ✌

You have not got a clue about Chris Reas albums 100%
