Hey there!
In this video I'm going to talk about the current rules for Euc, Escooters, one wheels and other PEVs in Spain. I'll also compare the difference of riding in a smaller city versus how it is to ride in a bigger city, like Barcelona.
For more EUC and Art content, follow me on ig @monocat.kate
Wooo more monocat!
In before monocat over takes this guy... place your bets.
LOL, you're biased !
hehe, I agree anyway.
Enjoy your style and comments, thanks for the video
Interesting and informative video. I’d love to ride the small towns of Spain despite the heat. Looks like a very enjoyable trip. Looking forward to your next video!
Paint bike lanes green 💚 it's easier to see and practical. I live in Santa Monica and it's a lot easier to know where to mount the sidewalk and when to merge with traffic
Lovely video! It is so nice that you have got very precise information about all what you need to know for riding in Barcelona and Spain in a few days! Congratuçations for your results!! 👏👏👏
Cheers from Quebec, Canada.
Interesting, we're still in a law vacuum here too.
Me encanta veros por España, que grandeeee. Seguir asi, gran vídeo
As usual, great video! :)
Keep on posting. I realy like the way you make your video's. Top!
Nice video! You can do one about germany, too…it would be about 2 minutes long i guess ;-) e-scooters allowed, with max 20kmh, and Number Plate. Everything else forbidden. Video Finish :-)
What of Veteran Sherman or Monster Pro on the AutoBahn.....................🙈
@@kaygee1623 MP would actually be as fast as our ,,slow Lane,, at least for a few minutes
Such a pity, Germany. I'm so sorry for you guys. I know a German guy, he's got 2 wheels, and he's mostly riding his cheaper one. He prefers putting the cheaper one at risk of being impounded than the other one, even though he sacrifices a lot of fun ☹️
I felt like a criminal this summer when while being in Strasbourg I went for a 70km incursion ride into Deutsche territory 😁
Great video, hope to see more and should consider insta360 to go pro. Should focus more of your self as "monocat" and not Adam. Seriously you are good enough to be independent and an ambassador to ladies riders (personal opinion) . Looking forward to more content .... why are you using those safety gear from other brand ?
Well, since you asked about a set of rules for PEVs:
> under 60kg
> 70kph on the streets (same as car traffic irl), 40 on bike lanes (50 in low traffic areas) , down to 30 in crowded areas and sidewalks.
> mandatory helmet - I don't think it helmets are necessary for slower PEVs, but I also don't think slower EVs in traffic should be a thing.
> any driver's license, maybe a cheaper new category. Not necessary on bike lanes.
> certified battery.
> national database. I know it is a hassle, but it is a good way to deal with bike theft.
I don't think these devices should go much slower because a hitting a pedestrian with a PEV is more of a hassle than a real danger. The goal should be pushing cars away from pedestrians and bike lanes.
Also... PEVs should get bigger incentives than Teslas, especially for first time owners. The city is saving a non-trivial amount of money with cars and buses (or 1.600kg electric cars) being replaced by those.
Nice video again!
For further consideration: 1) In very congested cities an elevated tube system for one way EUC riders and other light-weight traffic. It need only be strong enough to carry humans.
2: Google maps needs an upgrade to cater to the neds of EUC riders.
In the UK the situation is a complete mess. PEV's according to the law are illegally anywhere except your own land and though thousands are being sold and ridden Police either ignore you, fine you, steal your ride, put points on your car licence though it has nothing to do with that, And depending on where you live, or how they are feeling at the moment do any, or none of the above. As sales of scooters in particular increase, the threat to riders is increasing, as it is for the hobby, and for our rights and freedoms generally.
Adam has to film u now Kate lol.
Al the best with your new channel 👍
Very good pronunciation of Barcelona 👍
Very informative...
Thank you so much for this video your a life savor is it the same in malaga marbella ect ??
Altro video top!
Excellent video! Thanks for taking time on explaining the rules and regulations in majors cities you visit in Europe. Do you have any tips on whether we can take our EUCs in an airplane or not? Do we have to send our wheel to our destination?
Thank you very much! We were sending our EUCs with UPS. Sadly the batteries are to big for carry-on‘s, 100Wh is allowed on most airplanes, sometimes 150Wh, so you could maybe take them out and ship the batteries separately if you want to take the EUC on the airplane.
@@monocat.1011 Awesome! Thanks for the detailed response.🙏
Great video. I live in the UK and I'm going to buy my first EUC in June after my holiday.. I wish our government would legalise private escooters and EUC's aswell as all other PEV's.
Wow you 2 had fun! Thank-you for another awesome video @monocat. pozdrowienia z Wielkiej Brytanii! coś dla ciebie po polsku. jako podziękowanie! Hopefully translate got that right :)
Hi, how long did you take to ride like now? I'm on my 3rd week and I feel really insecure yet!
you could involve a way to donate internationally. perhaps some people will do it. I have some basic questions, how much incline are they able to do, can you ride up a very steep very long mountain road in summer heat? How much fitness level is required, and what is the maximum weight for the rider? In respect of some offroad riding
More of travelling videos :-) Come to Denmark - som many nice path to ride on :-)
hi, what country are you from?
did you drive there by car ? any trouble getting past border with regards to covid ?
We did drive there by car, but no troubles whatsoever, but that might be because France and Spain where not considered high risk countries at that moment.
Any problems taking EUCs on the trains?
I never had any issue with taking it on the train (in Poland, Germany, Bulgaria and Spain) but I heard that you can’t take any electric device on the UK underground. So it’s probably best to research the laws for your country/city and ask some local riders as well :)
Why is all body armor black? I would love to see some lighter colors, it gets hot.
0:40 those are not the flags of Barcelona… Especially the one on the left
I like your helmet
Bathelona
You look good in that body-armor!!
(Not sexsistic)
7:30 IN RUSSIA
Any compromise for us in the UK, just legalise them all and allow free movement.
we are europeans. WE ARE ALLOWED IN ALL EUROPE. EUCS ARE ALLOWED
Bullshit
Hi from Barcelona, very nice video! Thank you because I was quite confused about the regulations here! Just to note: Barcelona, the "c" is pronounced just like in English, you don't need to try to say it like in spanish, we speak Catalan here!
¡Hola! I'd like to come to Barcelona next year to take a Spanish class, visit the city with my V8F and start learning Catalan 😊. I'd like to meet other EUC riders too but I don't know how. Please help me 🙏
Rules: You cant bla bla bla anywhere
REALITY: They can not ask you for authorization, and law will apply on vehicles of 2-3 wheels or more. You have an autobalanced vehicle so is ok to go.
(just in case you need to read more to TRUST ME. Read then the "European Reglament of vehicles 168/2013". article 2.1 and article 2.2")
You are free in portugal, spain, france, germany, netherlands, austria, shouldd i continue??? or we all know the european countries
The article 168/2013 is talking about Europa-wide regulations for 2-3 wheeled vehicles and just states, that the mentioned rules do not apply for self-balancing /auto balancing vehicles. But this regulation doesn’t prohibit countries to make their own rules for self-balancing vehicles. That’s why wheels can get impounded and fines gives in the Netherlands and Germany for example.
In Germany, they are using 168/2013 for the regulations of 2,3 or 4 wheeled vehicles, which they state on their office website (bmvi.de) for EKFs (German for PEVs), but since self balancing wheels are not described in there, they decided for themselves that they don’t seem secure enough to be allowed. They only allow self balancing vehicles with a handlebar, like segways, since they made their own law for it.
@@monocat.1011 turns out the segway is way more dangerous when crashing
