great quality video with good information.
I have the okuma xt and I use it for great lakes salmon and muskie. It's a great real and has done me good
I need that set up !!!! Good Video !!!!!
Thanks!
I'd recommend the okuma classic pro xp
I just bought 4 Okuma Magda's and will be buying 4 more this week.
Nice!
Thanks for this information...
Sure!
The Okuma Classic XT CLX -300 L you have... What do you think max that reel can handle as far as trophy flatheads and blues go??
I catch fish up to 60 lbs without any problems. Good drag system and very smooth to cast
I know there are catfisherman that use lighter lines and have caught some huge catfish on 30lb mono etc... but I feel like heavier lines like 50lb to 60lb mono is a safety net in a way. There is just more durability with heavier lines when dealing with a fish of a lifetime with structure involved on the TN River. Just loaded my Shimano charter special TR2000LD with 50lb mono and feel good about it too......
I use lighter line when drift fishing at times. It seems to work better in low flow. When anchor fishing I go pretty heavy, especially anchoring in heavy current. The Shimano charter special is a great reel. Tight lines!
Does the Okuma free spool lever disengage when you turn the handle or do you have to manually disengage it by pushing the lever with your thumb?
+Edward Kelly You have to manually disengage it.
Do you have any experience with the new Abus? I got the 6500s (made in china) and have heard terrible things (and good) about it, and for 65$ I'm still debating whether or not to get one of those Okuma's instead.
I have an older Abu 6000 (made in Sweden) that I love, and I just cant see myself spending that much more money for a current Swedish model.
Have you heard any comparisons between the Okuma classic and the new 6500s? I'm on the fence still if I should cash in and save a few dollars.
I haven't heard any comparisons. Try out the Okumas. I think you will like them. Tight lines, DJ!
How many yards of 20lb line does the okuma
420 yards
which do you do most often, drift fish or anchor down?
+03bonneville I typically anchor
Do the Wal-Mart reel hold up to big flathead and blue cats ???
Yes the attwood rod holders work fine!
How flexible is the tip on the nite stick rods?
Pretty flexible and sensitive.
Is that okuma harder to cast since its a trolling reel?
Not really.
How are the Okuma reels holding up for you?
I love them. No issues at all.
I have that blue and white rod bought it in a bait store in Cleveland TN near candy creek it is a very stout rod for 30 bucks
The tip broke off mine though
+Faze Jevs They are very durable rods. I love the backbone in it. Very good price too.
+Chatt Cats Fishing I agree the mid of the rod is extremely stout. Keep up the good work!
I grew up in Cleveland Tn.
What boat is that?
It's an aluminum 16' Jon boat
1648? It looks super stable!
+Panfish I'm really not sure. Thanks!
Okuma makes the best reels.
how big catfish can I catch on 25-30lb line? (mono)
You can some big fish with 25-30 lb line. I would say that pound test is good for 20-40 lb fish.
You can catch as big as you like as long as your poles can handle it and you use drag, pending you can fit enough line on it so you don't get spooled from a monster
I've seen videos of people using that line and catching 100 plus pound catfish
I'm surprised, thought you would have had more expensive reels
These reels hold up very well for me. No problems whatsoever
Please - it is level "wInd" - as in "wind your watch." It is not "wind" - as in "the wind is blowing." Please please, PLEASE get this right.
Haha, my wife had to correct me too. I say it correctly in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZK4HWQ46hHU/v-deo.html
Those nightstick rods have gotten out of hand price wise
Inflation
dont use beads
