I always thought it was crazy when I’d visit my great grandmother as a child and she talked about her life. The world changed so much over the 100 years she was alive. She passed in 2001.

People don’t have any idea how hard people worked. We’re all so lucky to be here today. Most people were lucky to get an 8th grade education back then.

@@catherinemcclelland7664 office work can be hard too.
My job is all physical and that's a good thing. Keeps me in shape. Paid to go to the gym basically. Good for the heart too.
But the American dream has and always will require a lot of hard work and dedication in giving back to the economy. That simply has not changed.
Unless one has wealthy parents. Really, not much as changed. I put in a lot of hours to make what I make. I'm still trying to figure my life out though. At least I managed to buy a home and have a 401(k).

This is an old movie, note they still pointed out racial inequality as well as distribution of wealth disparities. Some people will tell you such things are new and some left wing agenda. They are facts of history and the present.

What do you mean? It's common knowledge and has been with humanity across the Globe since recorded time... What isn't common knowledge is how much European practices influenced slavery and racial inequality. People view like it was only an American problem, when in fact, Europeans who moved to America also brought with them some unsavory practices. Spain was like the last country to abolish slavery and it was way after America had.
