Also, Hayley came from Disney and we all know how some people underestimate former Disney Channel stars
plus people tend to think of gay as men x men- its just a bigger awareness. More representation about the gay men community than what Hayley is doing- singing about liking girls alone
Honestly, I think it's mostly just because he's already been around this block and she's the new kid in town. This is her debut album and not everyone was watching WWP or Lemonade Mouth to have already been following her, and Troye already has a couple albums under his belt to have gained recognition and a fan base.
They're not exactly on equal footing to measure up their successes next to one another. And really, I feel like she's exploded onto the scene in a way that Troye didn't. If you were to compare back to this point in his career, I feel like she's gotten more exposure and acclaim than he had. That could just be a result of the trends in my little corner of the world, but I definitely don't feel like Hayley's hurting in any way (and that's a damn good thing)!
