You'll be able to pick this up from the same NPC! Note that you will have 35 days after demolition to reclaim your furniture and gil though. As for apartment and free company rooms, they do not have auto demolition so you won't have to worry about those!

As a new player who was really excited to come to a game with player housing from WoW, hearing it's so hard and expensive to get an actual house has really taken a lot of the wind out of my sails. I don't like the apartments or the company housing, and I feel like my dream of getting a house in Gridania will never come true. :( I would be willing to pay insane amounts of money to Square-Enix on the mog station just to get a house I could be happy with, but even that isn't an option. It just feels so hopeless. I never would have started playing this game if I knew how oppressively exclusionary the housing availability is, but now I'm deep in Heavensward and I'm caught between how much I'm enjoying the story as if this were a single-player RPG, and how left out of my most desired MMO feature, housing, I feel as an MMO player.
I can definitely understand the frustration, The housing system is in need of some work for sure. As long as you have a summoning bell (which tend to be pretty cheap on the market board now) you can do all your crafting from your home or apartment! I hope I can get a home!!!!! First, I need to get out of the 4000 queue. And the 5th ward is awesome! Lots of auction hammers there. But they go so fast…so I don’t know. Also, not sure how much a small house or apt would be, and could you sell your house and use the money to purchase a new home?
Hey there! A small plot typically runs between 3 and 3.7 million gil! Though you are unable to directly sell your home if you let it get auto demolished after 45 days of not entering you'll get back 80% of the money spent.
Hello! Soooo…what do you think of the current situation? I lost to Mr. Zero! That’s right, I lost to a 0!!!!!!!! As did others. I have heard that they can go back to their logs and see who bid and took their deposit back. And I did put in my ticket for ward 19. I wanted to cry….it was just me and I thought was another person. I want to plant stuff!!!!!
Heya! I've not actually had a good moment to catch up on all of that, but i've seen some bits here and there on twitter. It's definitely a bug that needs to be fixed, which i've heard is in the works? I hope they can trace things back and figure out who would of won had the system not borked, so you can get your house. ;o;
I’ve been playing since last summer and never even considered getting an apartment or FC room… you mean to tell me I can finally remove all those furnishings I’ve collected over the past 9 months from my poor retainers inventory? I’m dumb
Not dumb! It took me a while to realize apartments were a viable option as well! Yeah you can totally put those furnishings in there! Up to 200 of them between the store-room! Some folks will actually buy an FC room or apartment soley to be a housing furnishing warehouse.
I’m trying to find a way to vacate my apartment. I want to get a new one and all my furnishings all removed but it says there are still furnishings inside even though there isn’t. Any idea what I need to do? I also have less than 35 pieces so it’s not over the limit.
Hey there! I would double check your apartment item storehouse tab to see if anything is still in there, if that is not the case, sometimes smaller items might move or just be in different locations while cleaning them out. If neither of those work, i'll see if I can find any other details on why that might be giving you issues!
I have a question hopefully someone answers, But I have a friend who has a FC house and is quitting the game he wants to give me the house so he made me officer and gave me all the permissions. I was reading that in 45 days the house will be demolished and put back up for sale when if he doesn't log on or if I don't bid for it. Is that what I have to do? or is it once he is inactive for 45 days the GM role will be given to me and the FC house transfers ownership to me?
Hey there! As far as I am aware, after 35 days FC leadership will be Auto-transferred to the next highest rank in the FC - then if no one steps into the house in the next 10 days it will be auto-demolished.
@@AlienneAshford Are there any external websites that people use to track the availability of plots of land? I'm just getting into housing and its a lot to take in at once xD
Oh I feel yah! Housing is a wild thing to get into all at once! X3 As far as I am aware I don't believe any exist, i'll typically jump around the major cities and check each of their residential ward menus to see if any plots have opened up. It'll show up as a bright white text with the gil amounts next to them in the listing if they are open. It's been the best method i've come across so far!
You are correct. appreciate you pointing that out! I think I may have accidently used one of the older pricing charts when I made this ; I'll make note of that when I put together the updated version of this guide! X3
Idk if this is a silly question, but, I just managed to land myself a house, and when I go to buy a building permit, it gives me 3 different options, in this case in the Goblet it gives me the options of Ul'dah style wood, composite or stone... My question is, does it matter at all which one I get, outside of just the look of the house? I'll be replacing the exterior eventually either way, so I just want to know if this matters at all xD Again, idk if it's a silly question, I just really don't want to risk fucking something up.
Heya!! Not a silly question at all! So for that it's actually not going to matter, its purely for the aesthetics of the house! So any new exterior you get will over-ride the initial choice! Also congrats on landing a house! X3
If I buy a real estate and later move or upgrade all the money invested is lost? * You said if you move a free company you need to destroy your room - loosing 300k * Same for apartment So any transition from room -> house is a full loss of money. What about moving houses? or Upgrading houses? Do you loose the millions as well if you upgrade from small to medium?
Howdy! Aye changing free companies or an apartment is a total gil loss. However! The cool thing is even if you do get a house, you can still keep your free company and apartments as 2 additional housing spaces! Thankfully when the house upgrading/relocation process is actually a bit easier. If you're in a small house for example, all you need to do is find an empty plot within the housing wards and you can hit a relocate button to either upgrade to the bigger plot, or simply move which ward or plot location your house is in. In doing this, 30% of the minimum value of your current home is applied toward the gil cost of whatever you may be upgrading to or relocating too. You will need any additional gil on hand to meet the cost requirement, but you won't be losing anything!
Been checking the plots tab every hour trying to find a plot anywhere is there a better way to do this? Also why are some names red in the plot list I assume thats close yo being demoed but can't find an answer.
Hey there! Unfortunately until the updated housing purchase options arrive (hopefully in a few months) that'll be the best way to go about house hunting. As for the red names, I wish to say that indicates the plot has an owner but does not have a house built on it currently.
So for that, if you are removed from the free company you'll be able to speak to a Resident Caretaker NPC which can be found in any housing ward. They will hold all of your housing items for 35 days before you're unable to reclaim them. In terms of leaving on your own accord, you'll need to first remove and store all housing items yourself before you'll be able to demolish your own free company room! As for the Gil spent on the room, that will unfortunately not be refunded upon losing or demolishing your room. I hope this helps!
@@AlienneAshford thanks for The reply, I AM Starting FF14 now, this week, I am LvL 15 now, and Have Just completed The Quest that was supose to unlock housing, but I Have noticed was limited, so I decided to research and your vídeo helped clarify a lot to me, thanks man, keep The good work :D
Heyo! Once you've removed all the items from your free company room, you'll need to step outside of the room and open up your social tab! Once you do that, go down to housing and pop open the housing settings for 'private chambers' from there it should have a vacate chambers option that'll allow you to demo' the room!
Kind of a buzzkill that they are in such limited supply. :-/ This is kinda what attracted me to FF14 more than much else. Hopefully it gets better (not that I"m even anywhere close to being able to get one. I thought you could just because my little level 15 newbie quest sent me there. tease!)
Yeah I'm hoping that things will get better with the new housing changes they want to put in later, I'd love to see more folks have a chance of getting a house! Oh gosh I almost forgot about the level 15 Quest they have you do
Unfortunately you're not able to logout in the bed like you would at an INN room, it will spawn you outside your house the next time you log on. That said, if you do have a house it allows you to have your own chocobo stable to train and dye your bird as well as have an outdoor gardening plot for if you wish to grow plants. Overall though, housing is primarily for the aesthetics and things like that. It won't harm your gameplay to not have a personal home!
Greetings! I find the character interesting, so I wish to ask... It seems that the character here is named Doria Frey. If that is her name indeed, may I know how you named her that? Also, may I know from what race she is? I find FFXIV role play fascinating, so I wish to know. Thanks.
Oh! The name I put together from celtic names that I found, I usually go to those baby name websites for that. As for her race, she is an Elezen! FFXIV's version of the elves! X3 FFXIV Roleplay is really fun! We've some more RP videos here on the channel if you'd like to learn more!
I've been curious about FFXIV, especially that you can create your own character and design a house for that character. By the way, I am in to FFVII (Remake), FFXIV struck my curiosity when I learned of in-game housing. I must affirm that FFXIV is a larger game world, more possibilities than one can imagine. Unlike FFVII Remake where the world there revolves around the main characters (Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith).
@@AlienneAshford I wish to ask: May I know if you have role-played in FFXIV as Doria? If so, which of your FFXIV role-play videos does she appear in? Can you suggest one? Thank you.
I regretfully was never able to roleplay her much before changing to a different character. However if you pull up the first hour of our most recent Final Fantasy 14 stream I did some character writing and building for my new roleplay character! X3
Heya! Unfortunately you'll only be able to have one apartment at a time. But it can be in whichever city you prefer! Including the storm blood and endwalker housing ward.
@@AlienneAshford Too bad, but it's possible to move into a different apartment if you change your mind? And if yes, do we still have to fork out another 500k?
@@zato82 You will be able to move to a new one when you wish thankfully! However, Aye, yeah you will need to pay another 500k once you dismantle your current apartment unfortunately :
Don’t get a house. You’ll only get your heartbroken if rl rips you away for 80 days or longer… it is not worth it. It’s a shackle to keep you subbed to the game even when it is best for you your emotional and financial health to step away. It makes a return to the game after a long hiatus a painful one…all of your seasonal and even mogstation purchased furnishings…gone. Truly… There really needs to be more videos about the dangers and the criticisms of this broken system that should’ve never been implemented before they found a fix to the limitation of even just retrieving your furnishings no matter how long it takes one to return back to the game. It. Is. Not. Worth. It.
Hey hey! It does definitely go without saying the current housing system has flaws, that being said though there are some preventative measures I would suggest to anyone who may have to take a hiatus from the game for a bit. If you do have any mog station or seasonal items I highly recommend taking them down and storing them in your retainer, inventory or an apartment storage before hand. That being said, I know everyone does not always have the chance to prepare if something IRL requires you to step away from the game for a while. As you mentioned you do have that 80 day window. 45 days of not entering your house before it is hit with demolition and then 35 days to get your items and 80% of the gil spent on the plot of land back from the housing vendor. My thoughts would be that if you do plan to get a house, see about putting together a plan of action for if you do need to step away for an extended period of time, while you may not be able to get the gil or items if you go beyond the 80 day time frame, it would be a way to protect your real money purchases. Hopefully, we'll see some improvements to the system in Endwalker, Housing is a big priority on their list of things to get working up to code and I do believe they are aware of the less than favorable portions of the system we have right now. So I'm willing to see where it goes, personally speaking.
You have just lied to your subscribers, your subscribers make your UA-cam channel you are a liar, you can not get a house from grand company, you can only get apartments, what is 500000 the houses can only be bought if you're in a fc and they cost round about 3 million dependent on who you're buying it from. You can not buy it from the game, you can only buy it from players, and houses do not cost 300000, because there's no such house.if that was true, I would have had one

I have heard that they can go back to their logs and see who bid and took their deposit back. And I did put in my ticket for ward 19. I wanted to cry….it was just me and I thought was another person. I want to plant stuff!!!!!
Heya! I've not actually had a good moment to catch up on all of that, but i've seen some bits here and there on twitter. It's definitely a bug that needs to be fixed, which i've heard is in the works? I hope they can trace things back and figure out who would of won had the system not borked, so you can get your house. ;o;
Very informative thank you
Thank yah for the support! Excited that it was helpful to yah!
This was super helpful thank you!
Happy that it could be helpful! X3 Thank you for the support!
@@AlienneAshford Are there any external websites that people use to track the availability of plots of land? I'm just getting into housing and its a lot to take in at once xD
Oh I feel yah! Housing is a wild thing to get into all at once! X3
As far as I am aware I don't believe any exist, i'll typically jump around the major cities and check each of their residential ward menus to see if any plots have opened up. It'll show up as a bright white text with the gil amounts next to them in the listing if they are open. It's been the best method i've come across so far!
@@AlienneAshford Thank you for this! Much appreciated :D
2:10 a yalm is like... a yard. I think you meant malms.
Thats the one! Keep getting them mixed up xD
3:12 Are those gil ranges accurate? I though Medium was between 8,000,000 and 20,000,000 and Large between 19,000,000 and 50,000,000 :/
You are correct. appreciate you pointing that out!
@@AlienneAshford Thanks a lot!
If I buy a real estate and later move or upgrade all the money invested is lost?
* You said if you move a free company you need to destroy your room - loosing 300k
* Same for apartment
So any transition from room -> house is a full loss of money.
Thank you! Im on ps5 so a lot of the menus are cluttered and confusing, this was super helpful! ❤
I'm glad this could help out! I'm hoping to make some updated housing videos soon as well
ty sir
Thank you for supporting!
@@AlienneAshford ah OK I see ty for the help.
Not a problem! Will be happy to answer any other questions!
If I buy a Room on my Free Company/Guild Hall, and for any motive they kick me out or I want to leave, Then What would Happen to my house/money/items?
So for that, if you are removed from the free company you'll be able to speak to a Resident Caretaker NPC which can be found in any housing ward. They will hold all of your housing items for 35 days before you're unable to reclaim them.
In terms of leaving on your own accord, you'll need to first remove and store all housing items yourself before you'll be able to demolish your own free company room!
As for the Gil spent on the room, that will unfortunately not be refunded upon losing or demolishing your room. I hope this helps!
@@AlienneAshford thanks for The reply, I AM Starting FF14 now, this week, I am LvL 15 now, and Have Just completed The Quest that was supose to unlock housing, but I Have noticed was limited, so I decided to research and your vídeo helped clarify a lot to me, thanks man, keep The good work
:D
@@Kravenrogue Hey Im glad it could help you out! Im gona keep doin my best haha, I appreciate it!
How can you demolish a private chamber?
Oh gosh I almost forgot about the level 15 Quest they have you do
Is housing just for RP or can you do anything? Like log out of game in bed , etc.
FFXIV Roleplay is really fun!
@@AlienneAshford
I wish to ask: May I know if you have role-played in FFXIV as Doria? If so, which of your FFXIV role-play videos does she appear in? Can you suggest one?
Thank you.
It is indeed a rather large game world, it does make it very fun to explore however and there are many beautiful landscapes!
I regretfully was never able to roleplay her much before changing to a different character. However if you pull up the first hour of our most recent Final Fantasy 14 stream I did some character writing and building for my new roleplay character! X3

Is it possible to get an apartment in all the 3 cities?
@@AlienneAshford Oh darn. Thanks for the info though, I might hold off getting an apartment until my mind's made up on the location.
@@zato82 Am happy I could help! yeah I don't blame you on holding off! A lot of really awesome locations to pick from and more on the way! X3
Homie it's not that serious.
Now that was a great video! So informative. Slow and steady pace with timestamps and everything, Really nice. But I have to mention this... That's alot of hand movement up infront of the camera and it might just be me, but to me atleast. That's really distracting and a sore spot. Never the less great video! Thanks!
Hey im glad it was helpful for yah! Thank you for the support as well! X3
Haha, yeah back then I had no idea what to do with my hands so they went all over the place! XD We've actually since stopped using a normal camera view in the videos!
hm just started playing today, I saw a bunny gal with the Guild tag Dawn Treader above her head.
If you're on aether that might have been me. X3
A little long winded, but it answered my questions. Thanks
Glad it helped out! ^.^
Stop with the hands lol
I dare you to put your hands in your pocket and see of you can still speak 😅 not sure I've ever seen such a hand talker
Nothing wrong with hand talking! X3
@@AlienneAshford Not at all lol tbh I do it some too. Made me smile and think of my dad when I saw you doing it... he couldn't talk with his hands in his pockets. Like his brain was too focused on his hands being trapped
Btw great video... thinking of getting the game so just randomly watching "new player" stuff
Oh yeah it's one of those things I didnt realize until I started doing youtube videos. Though I do agree that I sometimes do flail my hands around. XD I've had quite a few folks kind of come at me charged about the hand movements so It's difficult for me to tell when it's in good jest or not, so my apologies if that reply seemed short!
Lately though i've been using a V-tube model for videos and that's been pretty fun! x3
I also appreciate the kind words! The game has been so fun for me over the years and even though It's a meme, the free trial up to level 60 is a pretty powerful free trial haha, I hope that the videos help you out while you decided on if you want to jump into this crazy world! X3
not gunna lie man you got some kissable lips ! 👀

Why didn’t you mention how to even unlock housing or what vendors to go to? What a waste of time
I did actually go over how you unlock housing. However I appreciate your concern.
