@13:13 Also for people without machine tools and just vanilla blender, so to speak, while time intensive, you can tab into edit mode, select a vertex that's "on the line you want to align the cut" and move the cursor to that. Select those "mis-aligned" vertices from the other cut and align them to the cursor on X or Y axis as needed to your orientation (Set Pivot to Cursor, then S, [axis], 0, enter) Fine for something like 1 or 2 things out of whack in a minor way. more than that and it's just uhhhggg, so yeah... machine tools. :)
Follow your channel religiously as model exclusively for 3d printing. It’s inspirational. For Just Panels and panels in general how do you deal with curved surfaces and subd? I find that the resulting geometry takes too long to repair the shading when using booleans and end up having to manually do panels with loops and vertex manipulation.
Thanks so much! To be honest I don't use Sub D that much to be able to comment on that. As with a lot of add ons I think if the mesh is too dense it will have issues. Would the thing you are trying to work on be possible to put the panel lines on before you use the Sub D modifier and then put the edges of the panel to have a crease? Youd have to fix the topology to quads before the Sub D of course as well. That may be the only way to make it work.
@@ArtisansofVaulThanks so much for the insight. I think that will have to be the workflow, I.e. is apply booleans and fix to quads before subd. I was thinking particularly of curved hood of Austin Healy from the 70’s and print for my dad who used to have one.
Do you mean specifically with Just Panels? It shouldn't be much different from when I have tried, but I will say that if the mesh is too dense it may not be able to work (a limitation of Blender more than the add on)
When I've used it on spheres it works fine unless its very dense topology. But I would recommend turning off any of the bevel functions (setting them to 0)
That makes sense. You're asking your computer to do a LOT of calculations very rapidly as you move anything. Press tab as you use boxcutter and edit it from that view
Not sure what caused that but I just uninstalled the addon and then reinstalled it and its working great. Hopefully the same quick solution will work for you.
@@ArtisansofVaul Thanks man as always and sorry for not replying, hadn't checked on my notifications. I asked because I wanted to catch the BM summer sale discount on this one and other add-ons. I guess I'll go for it then 🙂
so happy i found your channel. I'm learning Blender to make Wargame terrain and your videos are literally everything I want and need. Thank you!!
That's great to hear its helpful. If anything comes up always feel free to comment any questions 😁

Thanks man 👍🏻 Great comment to help people out.
That moment you cut the cutter…ooof! Great stuff
Glad you liked it. I think you'll enjoy the next video if you liked that 😉

@@Hitsujioyaji Please do let me know how it goes!
Can you do a video on how to do panel likes on curved objects, or on multiple faces?
Do you mean specifically with Just Panels? It shouldn't be much different from when I have tried, but I will say that if the mesh is too dense it may not be able to work (a limitation of Blender more than the add on)

Does it work on Sphere?

I need a fast mod for panel lines on hard surface like aircraft wings
That's where I think this shines. Again as long as the mesh density isn't crazily sense.
I did purchase box cutter but it's slow my pc when I use inset for 3x subdivision model

So which add-on is best for panel lines (quick/easy)
I want to create panel lines on aircraft wings .... Help me ....I need fast and easy method
@@fsxzman is this for 3d printing?
@@ArtisansofVaul yes
Anyone used this successfully on 3.6?
I just contacted the creator to check if there is an update coming as I just found Im having the same issue.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention
