Inspired Sounds: Sphere

'Sphere' and 'Event Horizon' are two movies that are anomalies for me.
I don't understand the kismet of how close to the same that these movies feel, look, and play out. They both explore Humanity and how we so often mess up a good thing.
I don't which is scarier...being in the outskirts of our own Universe; or being in the deeps of oceans. To me; they might as well be the same thing.
I remember the first time I went to the ocean as kid, and was playing around in shallow waters. I had goggles on and was looking toward the shallow end, and when I turned around and looked into the infinite blue that is the ocean, I got out of it.
I've been to the ocean many times since then, but I haven't stepped foot back in it.
Dustin Hoffman is absolute gold in this film. He plays a stressed out psychiatrist that has former romantic relationship with one of his patients who is also a critical part of this film played by the great Sharon Stone.
This film is full of interesting ideas, and one liners. The quotes go on for days.
What puts the suspense, dread, and horror over the top in this film is the flawless scoring of Elliot Goldenthal. He perfectly captured the visual and the concept of the movie, and without his work it wouldn't be what it is to me today.
The cast is All friggin' Star. From Queen Latifah to Live Schreiber. Homerun.
'You afraid of dying, Norman?'
Must see.
