Kookaburra Vs Blue-faced Honeyeaters on a balcony

- My usual kookaburra visitor seems nonplussed when a blue-faced honeyeater (also known as a Bananabird) tries to scare it off. The honeyeater gets some of his mates to come back, but the Kookaburra is bigger and not the least bit afraid. After they are gone, it sits there and grooms itself - it is the Lord of the Balcony.
Other birds can be heard in the background: crows, rosellas, myna birds, etc. Swifts are flying in the background looking for bugs in the air.
Kookaburra is so cool. He doesn't give a rats about the whole gang of BFHes does he? And I love the slo mo sound "Wwoooaaarrrkk wwoooaaarrrkk", it made me LOL!
Blue faced honeyeaters are such cool looking birds.
Wow. I am jealous that you get to see these amazing birds on your balcony! All we have are pigeons. That kookaburra is the coolest :)
letshugitoutb Do you live in Australia?
I love the Kookaburras, they are so laid back and afraid of almost nothing.
cause their considered the king in the Aussie bird world
its very exiting on ya balcony for birds and their lovers....i hear crowcallings too, i believe,-but they are not visible,-am i right ?******
The sound of the honey eater things in slomo is great :D
Kookas just don't give a shit about other birds. I watched one once where it had 4 magpies constantly pecking at it, dive bombing it and carrying on and it didn't move a feather or even acknowledge their presence for about 20 minutes.
Your balcony got pooped on :D
ha, ha what great footage you got, I noticed that there was a juvenile blue-faced honeyeater with the adults as you can clearly see at 4:34 because of the olive-green colourations around the eye instead of blue. Laughing kookaburras don't really care about other birds as long as they don't feel threatened but those honeyeater sure got a bit to curious about the mysterious bird on the balcony next to them. Thanks for sharing
kookaburras rock
That kookaburra is like, "Ummm noo."
Love it when smaller birds hassle bigger birds. Usually I see Noisy Mynas harrassing Ravens. Once out in country NSW I was witness to the bizarre - Mynas harassing Ravens who were actually harassing a Wedge Tailed Eagle. Who seemed to be ignoring all of them as he rode a thermal. Very funny, no camera and no one else around to see it.
Nice videos, you have a good spot to birdwatch.
It's like that one guy in the movies that won't shut the fuck up and you wanna punch them in the face
Haha great video, Kookaburra's truly have thick skin.
I live in South East QLD and commonly see the Blue faced honeyeater, Mickey Bird (Noisy Miner) and a magpie or two going at it with a Kookaburra in the middle of it and they never bat an eyelid.
Blue-faced honey eater just wants to annoy the kookaburra! XD
Ah yes. I thought it looked like Brisbane in the background!
haha slow motion bird call is dinosaur scary ;D
Wish I had one of those on my shoulder.
The bigger bill usually wins.
oh, how interesting... :$
that was great :)
where are you? in what country?
The only county that has kookaburras
Australia
Too damn funny, at 0:53, "Let's see that again in slo mo..."
