Magnum on their evolutional Peak, the Finale of an Era full of Masterpieces in Rock Music. Well matured, strong Harmonies, Great vocals and wonderful melodic Hooks. An Album full of lovely Details in Songwriting and Musicianship. They were hardly never as good as they where at this Point in Time of their Career. I am glad to have seen them live on this Tour through Germany, it was my 5th Magnum Concert.
One of the Greatest Bands with one of their greatest Albums !!!!
This album had a modern sound and modern production, it is closer to the albums of Saga of the late eighties and early nineties, after that album the band did the album Rock Art and the band disbanded, they reunited in 2002 but it is the first era of the band from 1978-1994 that brought the best music by the band, they have great albums also in the period between 2002-2022, the album from 2022 is a great example, but i myself prefer their first era, first class melodic hard rock, thanks for sharing.
I would say they have 4 stages, musically, not 2.
1. Kingdom of Madness to The Eleventh Hour.
2. On A Storytellers Night to Rock Art.
3. Brand New Morning to On The 13th Day.
4. Escape From The Shadow Garden to The Monster Roars.
Their 2nd and 3rd eras are my favourite.
Listening to Magnum feels like coming home.

My older brother was really good pals with the lead singer back in the early 90s,Me being a young scallywag at the time didn’t know anything about music at that time,So being nearly 40,This record brings back a lot of memories from that time👍👍

This is Magnum at their very best early 90's and it is far better than the bookends of Goodnight LA and Rock Art. As a newer younger fan the post Hard Rain albums appeal to me more but this one is by far my favourite. The Flood, SleepWalking and Only In America are classics.
awesome 9th album from english rock band magnum. just a real good solid album. i love it and this has a real strong feel. magic stuff.

Love this album, one of my favourites along with Goodnight LA, Rock Art and Eleventh Hour! Rodney Matthews does a superb job on the artwork!
Nothing comes close to "On A Story Tellers NIght". But this is a good one. Not so keen on Godnight LA nor Rock Art. The songs does not seem to stick out enough on these albums to me.
@@Zazquatch1 Your`re right of course. Can`t choose betwen 85 and 95 or 2003 and nowadays. 2005 Livin´ the dream, especialy "Need A Lot Of Love" oh the hammer for me. Or "your `re the one". Come to The official Magnum.Side.

In retrospect, and while the album does taper off a bit on side 2, this is one of those records that didn't get the recognition it deserved. Probably due to the time it came out. Oh, the sad, trying times of many an awesome classic rock band in the early '90s...
Great album , Stormy Weather is still one of my favourite tracks , with the tragic death of Tony we all look back at these fantastic albums/concerts etc . My own was the Milton Keynes concert with Marillion, Jethro Tull, Gary Moore, all bands were superb and Magnum had truly arrived as a major force. Condolences to family and friends R.I.P....🎸

Just another in a row of fabulous albums by Magnum. My favourite album though is a dead race between "On a storytellers night" and "Vigilante". Propably because they knocked my feet with need a lot of love. I listen through all albums atleast once a year. Thanks for all the Joy through the years...

Great band, but this is their weak album! IMO!
Magnum are great but the best underated (AOR)band that must be FM(UK) !
Weak ?! Absolutely not.. Sleepwalking is a perfect album of polished pleasant melodic-rock or AOR in the vein of Foreigner but even better !

Not sure why this isn't easily available now. Not even on iTunes. Very low key album, must be a label thing. I'm a long time fan and was even in the UK at the time and didn't know this was released!

I actually bought this album and it got damaged in my car and I haven't seen it since anyway in shops or on iTunes, it's seems very rare

MAGNUM TRES BON GROUPE HARD ROCK MELODIQUE
This was a quite original song to start an album with. I finally managed to buy Sleepwalking recently. I much prefer Sleepwalking to Goodnight LA, which is not really my cup of tea. But I often don't like much the albums produced by Keith Olsen.
Thanks so much for posting this! Haven't heard this album for about 20 years. First heard some of these tracks on an interview on the radio when legendary radio DJ Fluff was interviewing Magnum back in '92.

Some of the guitar and arrangements remind me of Us era Peter Gabriel. This album is more rocking in general though. Too bad this album is so forgotten among their catalogue.

Several excellent songs on this one too, but I'm not much fan of the kitschy style of cover art, even if the artist has obviously talents. It reminds me of some of the Marillion covers. For one or another reason, I don't like the choice of colours of neither, mysterious greens and blues somehow seem to be a more appropriate choice for this band...
Bought this when it came out and never got on with it. Listened again tonight for first time in years and opinion hasn't changed. Just think they lost direction on this. No riffs, guitar low in the mix, lots of saxophone. Is it prog, is it folk rock, is it Richard Marx? Not for me this one. Could almost have been a Hard Rain album
+Andrew Abraham I'd agree to a degree. I feel it was the end of an era and Magnum just couldn't conceive what was to come. But saying that as a fan album its up there. That's what Magnum do best is not sorely sticking with commercial success but creating genuine quality music for their followers. Sleepwalking riff though! That ends up being stuck in my head for ages. Stormy weather guitar solo, classic Clarkin. I feel Tony's playing is a lot more fluid and bluesy in this album.
