This list is very good and it included manga throughout the generations. You didn't go with the biggest titles of current manga series. I figured you'd have Akira in there (deservedly so) and I was so happy that Nausicaa was included as well. Both Akira and Nausicaa are more famous for the movies and most of the mainstream don't know unfortunately that there are much longer and in-depth manga stories. Well done. I have not read Lone Wolf, so now I will. I would probably include JoJo and Kochikame in the top 10.

@@gdijsn4729 yeah but when you consider its comparing works that have lasted for 8 decades with thousands of artists, writers and hundreds of iterations to one guys continuous story and art its like apples and oranges. One Piece is fucking crazy big just imagine how it will sit 20 years from now?

My personal top 5: 1) Berserk: Overall, Berserk is incredible. It’s art, the characters, story, setting, world building, and character development most importantly is what makes Berserk one of the best manga written and drawn. Though warning, it’s not for everyone! It’s extremely dark and has A LOT of gruesome scenes, like rape! 2) Vagabond: Absolutely beautifully drawn manga. Musashi is a great character, and the philosophy in the manga is absolutely brilliant. Seeing Musashi grow from a relentless killing machine to a wise man who learns from his actions is so well written! Sasaki is great too, especially in the mountain fight scene. Vagabond overall is beautiful, but the only problem is...it’s not finished. 3) Chainsaw Man: VVVRRRRRR VRRRRR VANVURGGGGEERRR...Chainsaw Man is great. ‘Nuff said. 4) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run: Seeing the alternate version of Jonathon be this flawed, selfish, and disabled man who is learning to become a better human is absolutely beautifully written. The story is great, as it takes place in the cowboy era of Japan, and plus the president of the USA is the fucking main antagonist, and his fucking goals aren’t for selfish desires. Incredibly well written. 5) One Piece: 1000 chapters, but who cares? One Piece is known for its incredible world building, and characters. Luffy’s desires actually stem from something, and his attachment to his friends make even more sense when we see what happened during his childhood. Plus, it actually feels like a big world. Each island has very different cultures, some even calling things differently, since they were closed off from the world. Plus, you can tell Oda has planned the story with how many foreshadowing there is in a lot of the chapters. The quest to eventually find The Fabled One Piece has been long, but god dammit I don’t want to see it end! Honorable mentions: Kaguya: Love Is War: Its funny, and unlike many other comedy romance mangas, it doesn’t do overplayed cliches, and some actually good topics like, how a couple would react to sex and such. Inuyashiki: Another great one from the creator of gantz! Inuyashiki is simply great, and it’s a short read, but the story is thrilling! Mob Psycho 100: I like this one better than OPM! Mostly because of the fact that Mob actually feels like a teenager who aches to be popular, and struggles to change, all the while trying to contain his anger

Wow this is actually pretty damn near close to mine except that 1. Hunter x Hunter 2. Jojo’s bizarre adventure 3. The Promised Neverland 4. Yuyu hakusho 5. Baki the grappler
Naruto may be mainstream and targeted to teens but overall it ranks pretty high on my list. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hate the anime though, at some point the fillers ruined it.
papalevies Uzumaki is a really fucked up horror manga bro, nothing to do with naruto. But it explains why every time I google Uzumaki top results are always about naruto
Tilak Rimal I wouldn’t say it’s the best of all time, it’s still an amazing manga that should be on this list but there are other manga that are Influential
For it's length, One Piece is the best manga of all time yeah. Very few have remained quality manga after so many chapters. And for its records, it's also the greatest manga of all time. Sure you have short manga's that were freaking good... but One Piece has been doing it for 20 years. There aint no competition. The essence of life and adventure is One Piece 😄
I'd have to agree with this list. They probably are the top 5 most important manga. And that's saying a lot when considering that my favourites didn't make the list, but I still agree 100% that these are probably the most influential manga classics out there.
Those Mangas are important because they pioneered other future mangas and animes: Dragon Ball (& Fist of the North Star) with action adventure shonens - Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokémon, Digimon, Yugioh!, Naruto, One Piece, JoJo’s, Bleach, Fairy Tail etc. Nausica Valley of the Wind with realistic cinematic fantasy - My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away Berserk, Inuyasha, Death Note, Fate/Stay Night, SAO, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte etc. Lone Wolf and Cub with eastern wild west style - Samurai X, Cowboy Bebop, Tri Gun, Space Dandy etc. Akira with seinen cyberpunk and alternate futures - Ghost in the Shell, FLCL, Full Metal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Edge of Tomorrow etc. Astro Boy the first influential manga and anime that influenced all of the previously mentioned above and science fiction mechs - Gundam, Evangelion, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann etc.
Another influence manga: Devilman with dark seinen manga -berserk, tokyo ghoul, parasyte, ajin, etc Princess knight with magical girls -cutie honey, sailor moon, madoka, sally the witch, etc Harenchi gakuen with perverted ecchi genre -highschool dxd, prison school, monster musume, etc Technically "tank tankuro" was the first robot sci fi manga which is came out in 1930s
Thanks Nicholas for introducing me to lone wolf and cub...i only knew kazuo koike for his infamous lady snowblood (the manga that inspired Tarantino for that rather silly scene in the cotton field, blood spilled all over the flowers...) and for samurai executioner, but lone wolf & the cub has flown over my radar till now...
...and what's up with people who justify their ignorance using the word "hipster", that apparently defines every bit of culture they don't have? It's like they're ashamed to be unaware of things they don't want to discover and toward which they don't have any curiosity whatsoever. That's one of the few internet things that manage to weaken my detachment...
Everyone disliked this, but he was actually pretty much spot on, seeing how those titles basically pioneered the manga world. Of course there's other great manga out there, personally (One Punch Man) is a early game changer for me, but you lil cry babies need to get over yourself and realize these great masters works. Lmao.
Oda actually really does appropriate Tezuka in so far as Tezuka pioneered retelling European fairy tales. Astro Boy is Pinocchio and so is Usopp. All of the main characters in One Piece have some basis in old fables.
I think the list is pretty legit, but I think the 5 spot must have been hard. Akira Toriyama was very influential, but I think Hirohiko Araki has been more influential. Obviously I'm a little biased, but I think both Toriyama and Araki are responsible for the restructuring of manga from how characters were in the 80s to today.
Toriyamais easily more influental than Araki. Araki is great and jojo is liked all around the world, but Dragonball formed an entire new generation in Jump. Manga like Naruto or One piece wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Dragonball and ironically these 2 series were/are the most popular series of the last decade.
I agree for the most part, but I think Araki influence on the action genre and the industry as a whole is larger and mostly undiscussed. He also is one of the rare cultural bridges between Western and Eastern culture. Though I think either of them could hold the 5th or 6th spot (if the 6th existed).
Yeah while I agree with Araki being a great and very influential Mangaka, I have to say Toriyama made a much greater impact. Whether Jojo or Dragonball is better is purely subjective, sure I'm more of a Dragonball fan but thats cause I was introduced to it at such a young age and it played a big role in my life. Which brings me to my point as to why Toriyama is more influential. Not only did he change manga in Japan and allow for a new Shonen Generation to flourish, but he essentially brought Manga and Anime to the West. Sure it was more or less around and there were certain predecessors, but nothing that popularized the Industry overseas as much as Dragonball did, in particular Anime when Dragonball Z came around. That's why Toriyama pretty much has to be on the list by default considering this video is about the most *Important* Mangas.
I'd argue Fist of the North Star is most influrntial manga in the 80s. Dragon ball eas influential in a world else scale from late 80s to even now. Jojo is amazing but I wouldn't say it has the reputation like Dragon Ball.
That.... was actually a pretty good list I was going to say something about how GitS should have been on there but I can admit it probably isn't one of the top 5 greatest.
I love Berserk but I have to admit that he nailed it pretty good with those five. They are indeed the most important manga created. No Berserk,One Piece etc without them.....
There were definitely other really good manga which might be better than some on the list but not so influential. each manga he showed were some crucial part of manga history...so pretty accurate list in my opinion...
Good list if you're talking about certain genres of manga but totally left out others like Rose of Versailles (which I'm not a fan of but was also an important manga that cemented the shoujo demographic). Or how about Captain Tsubasa? The manga that changed the sports genre. Maybe you should have just made a favorites list instead of saying "important manga list." Also, you obviously have not read Lone Wolf and Cub because that baby is not his son. Do your research.
VoidX Akira is ok, to me, GITS is something a little more interesting specially since it was released when the internet was starting to become the "next" thing.

Honorable mentions:
Kaguya: Love Is War: Its funny, and unlike many other comedy romance mangas, it doesn’t do overplayed cliches, and some actually good topics like, how a couple would react to sex and such.

3. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Derp Derples idk how people cant pronounce things that we have audio of
That’s how it’s pronounced in Japanese
The best manga is called Uzumaki
Naruto may be mainstream and targeted to teens but overall it ranks pretty high on my list. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hate the anime though, at some point the fillers ruined it.
he is not talkin about naruto
not naruto dude
papalevies Uzumaki is a really fucked up horror manga bro, nothing to do with naruto. But it explains why every time I google Uzumaki top results are always about naruto
WRONG. Best manga is the Harry Potter series.
1. VAGABOND
2. VAGABOND
3. VAGABOND
4. VAGABOND
5. YOU GUESSED IT... BERSERK.
lol when he said “one piece SIKE JK LOL YOU THOUGHT” I died 💀
one piece is the best of all time
Tilak Rimal I wouldn’t say it’s the best of all time, it’s still an amazing manga that should be on this list but there are other manga that are Influential
FUCK NO
For it's length, One Piece is the best manga of all time yeah. Very few have remained quality manga after so many chapters. And for its records, it's also the greatest manga of all time. Sure you have short manga's that were freaking good... but One Piece has been doing it for 20 years. There aint no competition. The essence of life and adventure is One Piece 😄
I think it gets hate because in its own way it’s still ahead of its time. Too weird for people to be able to grasp
Torin Vlietstra too predictable**
Somehow Miyazaki's Cory in the House didn't make the cut? Fuck this. I'm out.
I'd have to agree with this list. They probably are the top 5 most important manga. And that's saying a lot when considering that my favourites didn't make the list, but I still agree 100% that these are probably the most influential manga classics out there.
You not having JoJo on the list is like insulting my hair...
Forgive him josuke
😂
Those Mangas are important because they pioneered other future mangas and animes:
Dragon Ball (& Fist of the North Star) with action adventure shonens - Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokémon, Digimon, Yugioh!, Naruto, One Piece, JoJo’s, Bleach, Fairy Tail etc.
Nausica Valley of the Wind with realistic cinematic fantasy - My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away Berserk, Inuyasha, Death Note, Fate/Stay Night, SAO, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte etc.
Lone Wolf and Cub with eastern wild west style - Samurai X, Cowboy Bebop, Tri Gun, Space Dandy etc.
Akira with seinen cyberpunk and alternate futures - Ghost in the Shell, FLCL, Full Metal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Edge of Tomorrow etc.
Astro Boy the first influential manga and anime that influenced all of the previously mentioned above and science fiction mechs - Gundam, Evangelion, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann etc.
Another influence manga:
Devilman with dark seinen manga
-berserk, tokyo ghoul, parasyte, ajin, etc
Princess knight with magical girls
-cutie honey, sailor moon, madoka, sally the witch, etc
Harenchi gakuen with perverted ecchi genre
-highschool dxd, prison school, monster musume, etc
Technically "tank tankuro" was the first robot sci fi manga which is came out in 1930s
I know my picture profile can tell what I'm gonna say but where is Jojo's Bizarre Adventure it influenced more than Dragon ball
He does look like a failed Jojo character himself
I thought he looks great even if he got a boat between his incisors, but I think it make more "sexy"
i think its only completed series
witch is why berserk and jojo is not one
Tareen M Jjba got inspired by Hokuto no Ken so where's HnK? xd
Jojo is really more off in it's own world. People reference it but it doesn't have a fraction of the influence of Dragon Ball.
I almost punch my monitor when he said one piece, nice list, astro boy deserved it, such a pity there's no hunter x hunter in the list.
are you okay?
Talai baru Hanthey maile baru
my Favorite Anime are Seinfeld and Shrek
the Seinfeld anime is good but it doesn't do justice to the manga
I really liked this videos pace and the way Nick talked.
Real top 5
#5 Nausica
#4 Vagabond
#3 Oyasumi PunPun
#2 Berserk
#1 20th Century Boys
Everyone disliked this, but he was actually pretty much spot on, seeing how those titles basically pioneered the manga world.
Of course there's other great manga out there, personally (One Punch Man) is a early game changer for me, but you lil cry babies need to get over yourself and realize these great masters works. Lmao.
Oda actually really does appropriate Tezuka in so far as Tezuka pioneered retelling European fairy tales. Astro Boy is Pinocchio and so is Usopp. All of the main characters in One Piece have some basis in old fables.
Nika is reminiscent of Tezuka’s cartoony style
Osamu tezuka and go nagai was the most important.
I'd argue Fist of the North Star is most influrntial manga in the 80s. Dragon ball eas influential in a world else scale from late 80s to even now. Jojo is amazing but I wouldn't say it has the reputation like Dragon Ball.
Loved the selection!
Beserk. Devilman. Jojo. One piece. Evangelion. My list could go on.
wtf hating on one piece
Everything Living IKR. ONE PIECE IS GOOD MANGO
That.... was actually a pretty good list
I was going to say something about how GitS should have been on there but I can admit it probably isn't one of the top 5 greatest.
One Piece.
1:32 “here’s goku again when he turns super cyan”
I love One Piece, it's my favorite manga. But this guy is talking about the manga that were most influential and I think he has got the list spot on!
I was expecting Berserk...
When you said one piece I screamed with joy but then you killed my life
The manga that most inspired me is Hi no Tori (aka Phoenix) by Osamu Tezuka.
Masterpiece!
My top 5
5: Jojo's bizarre adventure
4: Bakuman
3: Dr stone
2: Fullmetal alchemist
1: The Promised Neverland
fma is bad fma:b on the other hand
@@bigballer58 We are talking about manga, not anime
I think the title of the video should be top 5 most important mangas of all time
You are defiantly a Guru of manga you chose perfectly.
Vagabond deserved a spot, but that was a pretty diverse list, i liked it
Good list if you're talking about certain genres of manga but totally left out others like Rose of Versailles (which I'm not a fan of but was also an important manga that cemented the shoujo demographic). Or how about Captain Tsubasa? The manga that changed the sports genre. Maybe you should have just made a favorites list instead of saying "important manga list." Also, you obviously have not read Lone Wolf and Cub because that baby is not his son. Do your research.
My top 5 favorite manga
5. Ajin
4. Death Note
3. Claymore
2. Attack on Titan
1. Tokyo ghoul / :re
Souichi I think you should read more manga then
I do, but those are just my favorites.
Souichi no offense but there are way better manga that attack on titan and Tokyo ghoul
jar4142 Maybe for you there are, but to me they're my favorite
Souichi I’m not saying they are terrible
You know somone is not a weeb when they call manga “japanese comics”
astroboy without a doubt is 10/10
Nah, but Black Jack and Phoenix are
Great list.
They did their research, love to see them go into Top 10 shonen, seinen, etc.
Ghost in the Shell better be here...!
I think Akira is better.
VoidX Akira is ok, to me, GITS is something a little more interesting specially since it was released when the internet was starting to become the "next" thing.
Avelier Plays But GITS is similar to Akira, Akira is way longer and has better fight scenes...
where did you get your default pic?
