- Meet Johanna Carbajal. Johanna has been a member of the Homeboy family since she was 14 years old. Now, working with us as our Board Liaison and a full-time undergraduate student at UCLA, she takes pride in being a mom, daughter, sister, friend, and mentor - roles that for a long time, she had never imagined for herself.
"So much of this wouldn’t be possible without Homeboy Industries. The support, care, and the near constant reminders of the love and kinship, this is so critical for those of us who are part of the community."

Located in downtown Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. By utilizing a combination of donations and social enterprises, Homeboy Industries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose innovative model of therapeutic wrap-around services has helped the organization become one of the most successful re-entry programs in the United States.

Johanna was one of the first members of Home Boy that I met and will never forget how bright, friendly, "in charge" and warm she was then and still is. Congratulations - sorry we never got to have you, Fr. Greg and friends come to the beach in Oregon - but who knows, maybe one of these days - in the meantime, congratulations to all at Home Boy and always proud to donate (actually wearing my Homeboy Industries hat and tights as I'm typing.)
