I think VMax is giving Apollo a good run for their money if you need a scooter as a reliable form of transportation as opposed to a fun toy. If Apollo didn’t come out with the Go I almost certainly would have gotten a VMax. The Go climbs like a mountain goat, has full suspension for the broken pavement around town, and the tiny handlebars means it takes up less space at work
I feel like the Go has really grabbed a lot of people's attention! Apollo Scooters and VMAX scooters both have a ride feel that says "The people who designed these, spent a lot of time actually riding them!" I can definitely feel that! -Paul
Bought a VX5 as my first scooter after meeting the VMAX guys at Micrombility America last year. Upgraded to the VX5Pro and sold my VX5 to a friend. The VX5Pro added turn signals, my #1 wish, plus wider, tubeless tires. I love it. It's exactly what I need for a major city downtown lifestyle.
My first scooter was the VMAX VX2 PRO GT, and then my second was the Apollo Go. I love them both oh so much for different reasons, but yeah, the VMAX is very much a BEAST for the price.
Especially right now. They were a lot more expensive when they first came to the US. I'm surprised they're able to sell at the prices they have right now after last Summer's tariffs kicked in. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I watched their prices extensively and got them both at their lowest. Thank you so much for your channel! You guys are the best!
Not to mention, VERY regulated. 20km/h (~12.5mph) is the allowed VMAX (pun definitely intended). Coming from a Zurich local, it’s probably the last resort if the feds find out about it 😔🫣💀
VX4 GT great for hill-climbing the Swiss Alps and riding in the wet! Keep up the good work and great reviews ESG:) Greetings from Crans-Montana (Switzerland)
Great video! I just have to add that the ninebot max G2 as of 11/26/24 is $799 and $30 off with a coupon code. I picked one up today for $770+tax. I think that for this price, the ninebot max g2 is a no-brainer. Thank you ESG for helping me decide which scooters to consider within my price range. It was between Apollo Go, Max G2, and VX2 extreme GT.
I’ve got 1200+ miles on my VX4 GT. It really is a solid scooter. Great for long rides and commuting. It does great on roads and packed trails. I rarely fold it so the latch doesn’t bother me. The only problem I’ve had is flat tires. Can’t blame the company for that.
Update: My folding hook fell off the night I wrote this comment. Bad design and worse customer service, they say it isn't a warranty issue. Avoid VMAX! Old comment: Really like my VX2 Extreme. But I'd love a dual motor VX4 with hydraulic brakes and more speed.
It would be really interesting. They have a dual-motor scooter, but we haven't tested it. It would be fun to try a dual motor VX4, but might take away the last bit of portability it has. I also love the chill ride of the VX4. I'm usually all about speed, but something about the VX4 appeals to the more sensible side of me. (A side I didn't know I had!) -Paul
It's always fun to see a new vid from you! Not having to have an app is a big plus to me. I have a Kqui 2, the app almost made me return the scooter to Best Buy. When I was getting the packing together to load it back in the box, the scooter went, "beep" and became a fully working scooter, so I decided to keep it.
Glad to hear it came back to life for you. We've been sharing our feelings with the manufacturers about apps. I think it's great to be able to "bind" a scooter for security if you want to, but I think you should also be able to have access to the app un-bound, and also be able to access all of the important options through the dash. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yea, I agree with you about the app/security. Various motorcycles I've had had a key for ignition and to lock the fork, some combined the function, if I'm recalling correctly. I'd rather have a key, or a key fob like a car. Have a great holiday season!
When suspension can be forfeited in a commuter scooter, It would be difficult to find a better set of attributes outside of the VX2 GT and VX2 EXT GT, with their 768Wh and 792Wh batteries respectively. At 47lbs they provide so much freedom when you don't have a specific door to door route and just want to explore. For the role of trunk vacation scooter, I relinquished the suspension feature when I purchased the the VX2 GT over the Apollo Go. Obviously a terrific scooter but with its 540Wh battery and 17-19mi range, I anticipated being limited when it came to my sightseeing freedom. The VX2 GT has served in this role very well having done 38-39mi cruises but admittedly, if Apollo ever made a 720Wh version of the Go, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Speaking of that, if Segway ever puts a more useful battery in the ZT3 and gave it 2-3mph more speed, I'd buy it too! It seems a shame to make such an interesting "sport activity scooter" with 11" tires, capable suspension, app rich with good looks then handcuff it with a 597Wh battery. It costs so little in engineering and materials to transform it into something versatile and great, we're literally talking about an extra row of cells and 1.6lbs. Oh well, perhaps in the next iteration. :)
Dude, you're always so spot-on! 100% agree about the ZT3 feeling so close to what everyone wants it to be. I can live with the ~25mph, but it really feels like it deserves just a little more battery. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Now that you mention it, the speed wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me when the ZT3 was introduced a couple of months ago. You know how when you spend available funds on something else, all of a sudden the specification requirements go up for the thing you didn't purchase...haha. I bought something recently and I think that speed requirement got unconsciously shoved in there :D Btw, I picked up the Punk Rider Pro through Fluid Freeride as it's on sale for $999. I find it mostly easy to temper my new scooter enthusiasms because I have a small collection of them and can remain fairly objective. With that stated, this might have been the most significant scooter bargains I've picked up in 3 years. I can't believe how nice the fit and finish are as well as the overall performance and range. It mimics the Apollo City closely in performance but without its price tag. The suspension isn't as outstanding as the City's but it's really, really good for a cartridge system! I just finished a 29mi night ride and arrived home with 51.0V remaining. For 3-4 months I've been considering getting a high value scooter for my brother and after having received the Rider Pro, it's hard for me to think about the other's I was weighing in the mix. We might have a winner.
Great comparison, Paul! The VX4 circumnavigation of San Francisco is still one of my favorite scooter videos. At similar maintained speeds, I think the GX2 would be another similarly priced, comfort contender for that ride (not including the 10mi done after the loop).
I wrote up this super detailed response, and then accidentally hit the back button. I even downloaded and opened old range tests so I could give you accurate answers... oh well. The gist of it was, I think you're right the GX2 would probably just make that lap of SF. My range test of the VX4 was significantly further than the GX2's range, but I didn't need all of it to do the loop. The peak speeds of my range test on the GX2 were about 27 mph and peak speed on the VX4 between stop signs were around 23mph. (both on the range test course, not the lap of SF). Average speeds were within about 1mph of each other. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Oh man! I hate when that happens! So sorry Paul. With youtube I've gotten in the habit of copying my, "so far written" text because I've done that so many times. In any case, thanks so much for your thoughts. I agree with your data, I think the GX2 would make the SF lap if you completed it at roughly the same speed as the VX4 SF lap. Like you stated, this is all verified by your actual range tests with both scooters. For similar Watt hour scooters, the ESG range test benefits the slower scooters, hinders the faster scooters which means that the faster scooters end up excelling in the range department when you slow them down. As an example, I've done a 71mi ride on the RS5 Max riding my typical 16-19mph range around the mostly flat Tempe AZ area with little stop and go. The great thing about the ESG range test is that it's worst case scenario, so I know I'm always going to get way more mileage when I ride it.
Excellent review, as always. Can you please test out the R55 PRO - VMAX Dual-Motor Electric Scooter next. I'm sure, in it's price range, it would do amazingly well...
Do you mean the R55 from VMAX? I haven't tested that one, but I love that it has single sided swingarms because you can probably change tires without taking the wheels off. I don't really know much about the R55. From the specs the GX2 has a 10% bigger battery, but also costs more. I'd really have to ride the R55 to say for sure which I like better and which type of riding each are best for. -Paul
Thanks for asking. I don't have that one on the schedule at all, so I don't know if they are planning to send one. If so, it would be more than three months away (if it happens at all) because I can usually see about 3 months ahead. -Paul

Does the VMAX VX2 have manual cruise control activation like holding the left turn signal and throttle at the same time? All I see is automatic via throttle. Gotta decide on that confirmation before buying one!
There's no instant-on option that I know of. That's a fairly rare feature and I feel like Segway might be the only ones doing it. Maybe one other, but I can't remember which one. -Paul
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yup, only Apollo and Segway scooters have that manual option when holding the throttle and left turn signal for 3 seconds! Props to them for that invaluable feature without one getting caught off guard!
Thanks! How could I forget Apollo! I really like the way the Segway GT2 does it where it's instant on when you hit the button. (or at least that's how it was on the GT2 I reviewed it may have updated) -Paul
Glion Dolly XL has a dedicated cruise button. But that's one of the few noticable positive features (other than the portability ofc) compared to other "commuter scooters".
No way! Thanks for the heads up. The Dolly is such an interesting scooter because it has been around since the dawn of scooters. Though, I know it has had a revision or two. -Paul
My 12 year old has had a Segway for 3 years. Looking to upgrade but can't decide on a scooter. Looking for a balance of performance, full suspension, lockable, but not super fast that he will kill himself. He rides to school, plays, but as he turns into a teen I know he will be more aggressive jumping and off-roading a bit. .... Maybe sometime he can grow into. Was thinking of a VMAX or new Segway GTX. I don't rider scooters so I'm really looking for some input and thoughts on this....???
Thanks for watching and commenting! We've had a bunch of releases in the last few days and hopefully we'll get one more out this week, but it's going to be a long day tomorrow if we pull it off! -Paul
Sorry to hear about that requirement. I'm surprised that local governments fuss over regulating kick scooters so hard when there are so many more important things for them to worry about. Here, they let us buy and ride basically anything, and leave it to the police to decide if we're being a menace to society or not. We typically get left alone. -Paul
@ I wish it was just as easy here in Zurich 😔 Greetings to you Paul, thanks for showing me the UNGAI Model One (a purchase I unfortunately regretted due to battery/range issues 😬) AND the UNIT 1 FARO! 🥳🙌 Here’s hoping that getting some documentation from TEEWING for their GT4 will help me get some kind of registration or permit to use it on public roads, since it’s category A1 motorcycles specs. A trick that might come in handy🤘
The Unagi Voyager really improved the range a lot vs the Model 1, but still definitely not a big-range scooter. Good luck with the Teewing! I really like the three scooters I've tested from that brand. -Paul
Good call out. That was an oversight. We weigh all of the scooters and typically do include that information. I've reviewed each of these individually on our channel and of course have the weight in those videos, but it would have been nicer to have all of the weights in one place here. -Paul

Just checked all their models and R40 Pro looks like copy of Kugoo G2 pro old version and R55 Pro looks like Kugoo G booster. NOt sure why premium company would copy other brand design especially Kugoo that has quite bad reputation thanks to M4 and M4 Pro models. 🤔 That doesnt mean theyre bad eScooter but company that cares about their reputation for sure wont copy other designs.
Thanks so much for watching and for your insight about the other VMAX models. I haven't reviewed the other VMAX scooters, but I think those are earlier scooters. It's not uncommon for scooter companies to get their start with scooters manufactured by other companies. Typically when you see scooters under more than one brand, none of the scooter brands are the original manufacturer. So if Kugoo has similar scooters, they probably aren't the manufacturer, but also spec'ing out a scooter from a 3rd party manufacturer. That's how Apollo got their start, and that's why the Apollo scooters and the Zero scooters looked nearly identical. Even then, they were built to different specs, often with different batteries and different firmware. The scooters reviewed in this video are all original to VMAX. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide As I said it doesnt make them bad eScooters but there is something on theur website that just doesnt look right: "A VMAX e-scooter is not an off-the-shelf product." And of course loads of companies outsource most parts because development isnt cheap at all. eScooters you reviewed look really decent. Id love to know moder about batteries and BMS's used in the batteries. Taht usually says a lot about company. Ninebots all have great batteries and are known to last long. We can all agree that G30 is built like a tank.
The funny thing about Segway Ninebot, is they never disclose the brands of cells they use. Not bagging on Segway though. I agree on their reliability. Whatever they're doing, it's working. Both the VMAX and Segways are UL2272 approved, of course.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Ninebot Segway dont disclose which batteries they use like most brands dont, but I would be careful what to put next to Ninebot Segway. Sadly, the eScooter industry is full of shady companies, and I wouldn't be comfortable recommending something and then that company just dissappears, and people can't even get spare parts like for example case of Arvala. Ninebot-segway has a good official website with easy accessible spare parts. Not many brands are like that.
Dude, in the first minutes there is a graph showing how good VMAX scooters are in range/cost ratio, which is an important metric for a lot of people. This means *cheap* to them. Not everyone wants to go 40+ mph on two tiny wheels, and some of us don't even have road surfaces that are good enough to do that without it being suicidal.

LG Sascha
I was always told you take a shot so here it goes “ I was wondering if I could have a scooter just need something to get me to work nth to fancy just can do 5 miles and back I don’t currently have money to spend on one and I’m kinda struggling getting back and forth bc of my family’s schedules” take it into consideration plz and thank you
Does the VMAX VX2 have manual cruise control activation like holding the left turn signal and throttle at the same time?
(or at least that's how it was on the GT2 I reviewed it may have updated)
-Paul
Vmax for the win! Check the link in description for latest pricing and code.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide which vmax? 😮
Let's go new upload ❤
Thanks for watching and commenting! We've had a bunch of releases in the last few days and hopefully we'll get one more out this week, but it's going to be a long day tomorrow if we pull it off! -Paul
origial spare parts on the website is GREAT
I agree. I'm going to keep calling out which companies do and which companies don't have a good set of spares, because it's so important! -Paul
How do I register a TEEWING GT4 in Switzerland, let alone a swiss scooter which is overpowered and entering 125cc
-Paul

I wish it was just as easy here in Zurich 😔
Greetings to you Paul, thanks for showing me the UNGAI Model One (a purchase I unfortunately regretted due to battery/range issues 😬) AND the UNIT 1 FARO! 🥳🙌
Here’s hoping that getting some documentation from TEEWING for their GT4 will help me get some kind of registration or permit to use it on public roads, since it’s category A1 motorcycles specs. A trick that might come in handy🤘
The Unagi Voyager really improved the range a lot vs the Model 1, but still definitely not a big-range scooter. Good luck with the Teewing! I really like the three scooters I've tested from that brand. -Paul
Really 125cc soecs, very impresive.
Wish you had mentioned the weight of each one.
Good call out. That was an oversight. We weigh all of the scooters and typically do include that information. I've reviewed each of these individually on our channel and of course have the weight in those videos, but it would have been nicer to have all of the weights in one place here. -Paul
How i become a tester
The best way is to start your own channel. Most riders like Mitchell from RK9 Rides, started by reviewing scooters they owned. Once those videos started getting views, they were able to get companies to send scooters for review. And you go from there. Thanks for watching and commenting! Good luck!

That doesnt mean theyre bad eScooter but company that cares about their reputation for sure wont copy other designs.
Pq está saindo em português?
Not sure!
@, for this video, audio track was in portuguese, I was like “ Paul speaks portuguese!?!” 😝
Vmax too expensive and underpowered jus like Apollo 😂
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Did you see the graph of range vs price at the beginning? I was surprised when I plotted it. -Paul
@@636theofthebeast8there is nothing you can do about bench racers
What 2 wheeler isnt suicidal?
