    The filters entering the crushers from the top and bottom are the only rocks brought in by truck. The crusher were found by a member of the department of forestry studying areal photographs of the area. Four wheeler magazine written by Fred Williams, March 1 2003

    Not a single person thought to grab one of the 4 gas cans on the back of the rig, or maybe one of the coolers I guarantee is in the back of every rig??

    • @offroadhub.official
      @offroadhub.official  8 місяців тому

      The gas cans already had gas in them. I don't know if anyone had a cooler, or if anyone had a cooler with a significant capacity. Or if anyone had a gas can or cooler that would have fit under the vehicle. But if one of those things existed, it's a great thought in hindsight.

    Fun looking trail. I've notice from your videos that when hitting nearly any obstacle your head is out the window looking at the driver tire. Might I suggest that something that worked for me and may work for you? I try to look forward at the trail and take into consideration a good line, where the wheels and drivelines will be, and try to imagine if that line has me going over an obstacle with a tire or trying to make it miss the differential. With each slip and slide on a rock I try to update my metal image of the line with what my truck can do, and by continually looking forward I can update with a new section of obstacles in front and how I can navigate each section. I tried this after realizing that all the nice spotters that offered a hand each trip were just useless and it became much better to work out lines and how they apply to my rig. This was just a thought that instead of knowing 100% knowing where the front tire is you keep a good mental image of the obstacles in your head so that after some time you get to know where all four tires, and two diffs are 80+% of the time. BTW my buddies an I call the helpful but useless rando trail spotter Mr. Big Gulp after some guy came out of the woods to help a large group of new people to guide them to bust several ujoints and even a diff at Tahuya only to disappear off into the woods shortly after the carnage.

    • @iankovac1878
      @iankovac1878 2 роки тому

      That is what you do mountain biking. Look 20-30ft ahead and pick your lines, you can go much faster that way.

    • @offroadhub.official
      @offroadhub.official  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the ideas. I look ahead, or walk ahead, pick a line, then watch my driver's tire because then I also know where my passenger tire is. So I pick a driver's tire line, and I know where my passenger side is based on that.

    PNW Trails - Wet, slippery, and tight with rocks. Recipe for body damage. Nice wheelin' though!
    Regarding the Expedition gas leak... No judgement, as we've all had "oh shit" moments, feeling rushed and not always making the best decisions, but it sure seems like there might have been some better solutions than trying to catch it. Maybe those were tried off camera... E.g. Putting a couple fingers on it for a moment and getting some JB weld putty,, or duct tape, or even stuffing a rag in to slow it, all seem better than letting it full drain.

    • @offroadhub.official
      @offroadhub.official  2 роки тому

      Thanks! Yes it didn't fully drain, but it's definitely a tough situation.

    I may have asked this in the past but is your atlas connected to your stock transfer case or is it bolted right to the transmission? When you mentioned switching from low low to just low it made me wonder if you had dual cases or if the atlas just has two different low gears. Still trying to figure out what tcase set up I’m going with in my 09 Tacoma.

    • @offroadhub.official
      @offroadhub.official  2 роки тому

      The Atlas bolts directly to the factory transmission. It's a 4 speed Atlas. So I can put the Atlas in high or low, and the axles in high or low, and any combination of those. So I went from Atlas and axles low, to Atlas low axles high.
