Reactions to individual Act 2 animatics were recorded before the Disney+ version came out. Here is my reaction to the movie version on Disney+ ua-cam.com/video/2C5PKmjEkAs/v-deo.html
Eliza's orphanage still exists under a different name in New York. They have a plaque dedicated to her, and there's a picture of Phillipa Soo standing next to it that makes me cry every time I see it. Also, for the rest of her long life, people said that she would often gaze at portraits of Alexander and say that she could not wait to see 'her Hamilton' again.
Sara McKinnon DONT GET ME STARTED, when they hugged and cried I CRIED LIKE A BABY!! I didnt ask for feelings nor lams things but im def not complaining at all
I always find it ironic that song. Eliza said earlier she didn’t need a legacy. Yet because of Eliza she ensured her husband’s legacy carried on and not just her husbands. In her twilight years she ate with presidents at the White House.
Right, because she realized how important it was to Hamilton. She had her enough and she wanted him to have his. That's why she keeps asking if it's enough, she's talking to Hamilton ^.^
Alexander and Eliza's daughter Angelica was 17 when her brother Phillip died in the duel and she had mental breakdown. She was in a state they called "eternal childhood" and could not recognize any of her family. Their youngest child, Phillip who was named after his brother, was an abolishionist who assisted on the underground railroad.
To be honest, Eliza probably took the most pain. She lost many people close to her, like; Her younger sister died in 1801 Her oldest son also died in 1801 Her husband died in 1804 Her father died also in 1804 Her older sister died in 1814 Her youngest son died in 1850 Jfc that's harsh, but she still... ya'know I'm bad at explaining these thangs
and the fantastical conclusion. this song hits so hard. "who lives who dies who tells your story" is SUCH a powerful line. and i love this animatic. such a nice art style. and so much emotion in the expressions ♡ eliza living to be 97 years old for that time period is INSANE and so amazing because she really did accomplish SO much. so many things Alexander wasn't able to. also GOD "The orphanage" is always a gut punch. and you know why it hits so hard? Because throughout the musical they constantly remind you that Alexander is an orphan. So to see Eliza now helping care for orphaned kids is just.. the most wonderful bittersweet thing. also have to add. love that this musical is called Hamilton rather than Alexander Hamilton, because it isn't just his story, it's also Eliza's story. speaking of how old alexander was when he passed. philip passed at 19. I believe the stay alive reprise is the 19th song after philip was introduced (corrected in the replies, thank you!) And the musical is 49? songs. they match up to their ages.... THE WRITING. so much went into this musical..
The musical ia called Hamilton. Not Alexander Hamilton. When it was done, through the tears, I was crying because it was about Eliza. It's so beautiful.
I think it's most certainly both eliza and alexander, because it is the story of both of them and the things they did for our country, and how relatively unknown they both are due to Alexander's untimely death.
yeah dude... don't feel bad, i'm a big gruff dude that doesn't cry at almost anything, this is one of very few things that can make me burst in to tears everytime i hear it. This is my 18th time or so hearing the track and right now tears are rolling down my face. Lin is a genius for writing this play, and phillipa soo couldn't have been a better pick because she knows how to infuse every single word she speaks with emotion, probably part of the method because she's also acting on top of singing.
It took a while (and the comments of other fans more observant that myself) for it to dawn on me that 'the Orphanage' is especially significant *because* ALEXANDER WAS AN ORPHAN.
One thing that brings a smile to my face is the fact that it is likely that Eliza met then-Congressman Abraham Lincoln. I'm pretty sure he did because he was helping Dolley Madison and Eliza Hamilton with the fundraising for the Washington Monument, and the most noted example of this was when he helped organize a ball as a fundraising event.
Please don’t stop reacting to Hamilton! This is how I found your channel and I love your insight. Do the other animatics out there, like for the songs that were cut from the final version of the show, Hamilton in 7 minutes, etc. I really loved the vid!
Hey, thank you for doing this reaction series! It was something I looked forward to every Monday. I personally would love to see your top ten songs and why. Some questions; Will you be doing the deleted songs as well or is this the last? Would you consider doing other musicals as well? Either way, thank you very much for this. I loved hearing your thoughts and comments on this musical! :)
The biggest lesson this show gives me is to Love and Appreciate the Elizas in your life. If you have yourself an Eliza, cherish her and keep her close. Cos, she may be more than you'll ever deserve.
Bruh I don't understand why I'm crying so hard when I've heard this song so many times lol I guess this animatic was really good at putting things into perspective
The animatic is good but nothing compares to the musical, so much talent on the musicians, dancers, singers an Lin Manuel with his 3 cabinet's partners made this a master piece.
The one who walks eliza towards alexander is laurens. He appesrs after she hugs philip. Since in the play its the same actor, they drew him kinda alike lol so its kinda easy to get confused
I can only say i loved watching your reactions to this and that maybe you should also check out some off-broadway songs like dear theodosia reprise, congratulations and also maybe hamilton in 7 minutes
Fun fact: When Elizabeth died only 2 of her kids were with her. Lysbet (Elizabeth) & John. But John was the only child in the room with her at her death.
Such a good musical. I’d also recommend the Hamilton in 7 Minutes video. You can either do the animatic (by the same artist that did this one) or the actual group who sings it. It’s a good medley and nice little culmination/recap. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
@@kiwiparfaits Oh yes yes, i know, I expressed wrong haha what I meant is that I was waiting to see the Animatic finale to start his film reactions haha but thanks for the comment anyways :)
I've watched almost this entire playlist (even tho I've watched hamilton like 22 times already) while studying and actually studied, thank you for this, can't wait for in the heights ahaha
fun fact actually sad fact: Hamilton was next to Eliza when she read the Reynolds Pamphlet and he kept going closer to her and she kept on moving then she got up and Hamilton blocked the door way saying "Betsey please, I know I've no right to ask your forgiveness yet.." and Eliza said "don't, let me pass please let me pass." Hamilton let her pass and she ran to Angelica and told her what happened
I'm about to sleep and now end up crying over this animatic again 😭 love your clips! Looking forward for you to react to all deleted song (especially Harricane workshop version.. Trust me it hurts so much)
Okay, so the relationship between that line in Non-Stop describing Hamilton "write like you're running out of time" and Eliza's line "that would be enough". The 3 notes on "be enough" and "running out" are exactly the same, 5-3-3. And "that would be enough" and "like you're running out" are pretty close as well, just 2-1-5-3-3 vs 2-2-5-3-3, but they get closer. By this point both motifs have changed to sort of meet in the middle. Previously in Non-Stop "write like you're running out of time" was sung fast and frantically along with "expressing frustration". But now Eliza has changed it into a more positive form. She also makes it sound more resolved, instead of 2-2-5-3-3, I think she makes it 2-1-5-3-3 to match the same melody as "that would be enough", and that extra 1 gives it more stability than it had before. But by this point "that would be enough" has also changed into "have I done enough?" and "it's not enough". The positive parts of Hamilton's non-stop work ethic have rubbed off on Eliza and she's combined it with her own ideas and redirected it into telling Hamilton's story, the Washington Monument, and the Orphanage.
If you do another musical you should do 21 chump street it only 14 minutes long but is also written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and based on a true story also the main character is Anthony Ramos the same person who played John Lauren/Philip Hamilton
To comment on what you said at the end, this musical is a bit different then real life. The big things did happen (like the affair) but most of the details were made up to appeal to people as a show. There are also a lot of neat things in there that did happen such as his "best of wives and best of woman" quote to Eliza. In the end though, Hamilton is part of the reason that we are where we are today. He was an important part of history and although he made some awful mistakes (with a not so pleasant personality) he had good goals and he accomplished a lot of them. Like him or not for his personality, he role in history should be celebrated. I love forms of media like this because it humanizes people that are long past and makes us feel sympathy and relate to them. Fans of the show no longer see the ten dollar bill as some old white guy. They see Alexander Hamilton.
@@ericreacts2 Let it Go is another cut song you should listen to if it isn't already on your list, comes right after the extended version of Schyler Defeated (doesn't make sense with the final version) and it is really good
