39:10 Stokes had a Utopian vision for the Ansonia-that it could be self-sufficient, or at least contribute to its own support-which led to perhaps the strangest New York apartment amenity ever. “The farm on the roof,” Weddie Stokes wrote years later, “included about 500 chickens, many ducks, about six goats and a small bear.” Every day, a bellhop delivered free fresh eggs to all the tenants, and any surplus was sold cheaply to the public in the basement arcade. Not much about this feature charmed the city fathers, however, and in 1907, the Department of Health shut down the farm in the sky.
Great city, there is no where like NY! The vides, everything... one and only Big Apple. I was there 20 years ago (looong time) and watching this video makes me want to visit again so badly 😂... Planning to go spring/summer 2024, may it will come true!
If only you would have gone down 2 more blocks to 83 street and Columbus and Amsterdam there is a very nice fire house and a post office building next to a nice park. My home was across from there.😢😢😢
Saya rencana mau ke NYC sktr Mei/Juni tahun depan dan cari teman buat sharing akomodasi, siapa tahu ada yg berminat dan cocok (no modus ya, nanti saling background check... 😊)
Absolutely love the autumn vibes in this video! The vibrant colors of the leaves and the serene atmosphere make me want to take a nature walk right now. Thanks for sharing this peaceful escape with us! 🍁🍂🍃
Thanks for another enjoyable walk Unsolicited suggestions: Go into the shops, stores. If they don't want the free advertising, fine. Have connecting points in the videos, i.e. have one walk finish at Lennon's Image circle while like this video it starts so veiwers can have a relative spatial sense of the various neighblorhoods. The connected videos don't have to be consecutively back to back.
Thank You Vincent … But first of all, es-tu Français ? About shops I think to do it soon. I will start in few days narrated walking tours. It will give me the opportunity to put more of my personality in the videos. And during these kind if tours I plan to show more the shops and why not go inside. Just to let you know, I already did a full waking tour inside Macy’s
@@JulienInNYC You're welcome No, not French. From Brooklyn :) Look forward to your videos. Will check-out the Macy video. Best Of course walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is standard operating protocol ... kidding, but any bridge gives a wide angle view.
I think this is a very bad idea... it'll take away the authenticity of your amazing videos... I understand everyone wants to be famous in some way... I get that... and now wanting be seen on camera and narrating your videos... This makes me soo sad as its like your carrying us around in your arms with only just the sound of the city it makes us zone out and really draws you into your videos.
@@cue2807I hear you. To be more specific only one or two video every month will be narrated. All my others videos (90% of them) will be without words, only city sounds.
@@JulienInNYC ... or, also some videos could be a combination of various approaches, i.e. the first ten minutes or so the city sounds, then some narration, talking to someone random on the street or with a friend having coffee. As long as you're comfortable and like making these videos.

Wonderful video. If I could afford to go to NYC, I would just walk and walk as much as I could stand.
Very nice neighborhood... i love this place...
Upper West Side is a nice area to walk but pretty expensive to live there Julien. Merci beaucoup mon cher amie, bon weekend! 🗽✨🍎
I agree! But security wise its hmuch safer on this side... no money could buy one's security...
So beautiful videos Julien ❤
I rarely had a chance to go to UWS. Thank you for the video!

You've seen nothing until you visit New York! It seems like any other city is just a bad copy of the one and only true one. ❤❤❤
Would you want Bruges, Belgium, to be like New York City?
