When cutting large threads like 1 inch or more, thread milling is the way to go, especially in more difficult metals like stainless or titanium alloys. This also eliminates having inadequate power at the spindle on a smaller machine to drive larger taps. I usually prefer wear compensation to control my pitch diameters and adjust for tool wear. Also when selecting cutting tools, I like to use standard tooling. If I have a special thread where I have to grind or EDM a custom tool I will create and save it. Mastercam offers a lot of options.
I recently downloaded the mastercam home learning edition and I'm having trouble with the toolpaths it won't show anything when I go to machine and I select mill and then I select default the toolpaths on the left won't pop up can you help me please anyone

Remember if you change your thread length....It has to be by the pitch or multiples of the pitch....or you will cross thread it.....
