Love these videos related to Floyds and string gauge and EVH tones/playing/intonation etc. Would love to see you speak about the new Extreme Rise song where Nuno unleashes an incredible solo and it was a tribute to EVH. Goes along with you covering the N4 and EVH stuff lately too. Very timely and nice to see Nuno carrying on the EVH guitar hero torch just like you!!
Nuno is just being Nuno. The solo sounds nothing like Eddie. And Nuno hates comparisons. Nuno is pushing 60. Eddie recorded one album in the last 22 years of his life. Exactly what torch is being carried?

Thanks! It’s an incredible solo but to me it’s 100% Nuno. I have never heard Eddie doing those palm muted hammer-ons from nowhere which is Nuno’s trademark. It could still be a tribute to Ed but I don’t know about that since I haven’t asked Nuno about that 😎.

That 5150 really does it for me. to my ears it has that plexi tone without the sag and flub. Plexi sounds rawk but would die a quick death playing it at full tilt all the time. Great playing BTW. love the content.

Enjoyed your honest review of this cool guitar. Tone is in the hands. Eddie played and recorded with many guitars and always sounded like Eddie :) '78 sounds great through the plexi. I hear the brass nut on the open strings. Bright in a good way. What a fun guitar.

UA-cam algorithm is the dumbest rule. They don't want to allow content creators to use artists creations. I'm sure most artists don't care if their stuff is used to educate and played in general. It's a form of flattery. It's the greedy record companies who want a peice $ of everything
I think it’s good. As a song writer & recording artist signed to a major label I want my immaterial rights to be supervised and get the material income I’m entitled to. I haven’t heard for example that a plumber would do his / her work for free or that a painter would allow his/her paintings to be copied and someone else would financially benefit from that. Record labels, publishing companies etc. are good since I need to pay my bills too like anyone else.
@Euge Valovirta understood and that makes sense. Although I wasn't talking about copying the original artist music to resell it. I was just talking about instructors doing covers for teaching people.

I was just about to pull the trigger and order a Hybrid from Rick, but then I grabbed a Marshall Jubilee 2525X and threw a Boss Sd-1 in front of it and it’s killer man.
I know you’ve said you had Marshall’s and other amps and got rid of them once you got the Wizard. I suppose my question is - what is this amp / tone providing that a good boosted Marshall amp isn’t?

I had one just sold it. EVH I would expect more for the price. It just feels cheap. Bought a Charvel San Dimas and it smashed it. Made sound like playing a damb squire.😢

Awesome playing and tone! That 1987x cranked really brings the goods! I read that in the studio, Ed / Ted turned the volume down to 7-8, to clear up the gain. I'm all for originality and all, but the Floyd was invented, making these Strat tremolos useless!
Thanks! 100 watt Plexi becomes really really clean if you do that so sounds like a no go to me and most likely to Ed too 😎. Everything on 10 and then you tame it down with a Variac if needed 👌.

hard pass on any guitar that you want to do heavy bar work unless it’s gotta floyd or other locking system. Got my 2 charvel so cal hot rods one in standard and one in Eb, both with floyds of course. Also Have an elite fender strat that i got a great aftermarket trem bridge for and it stays in tune better than oG but still only slight dips and wavers are the ticket. Tools for the job. I’d never buy this guitar , ever. it’s defeating the purpose trying to make that bridge stay in tune . But I digress you are a king rocker and love your channel, love this vid!
Smoking playing !! Euge, I have a Peavey 5150 combo, have you ever used this amp? I’m wondering how to record direct with it because it’s too loud and my Dogs hate it😝🤘. I know the speaker has a Jack inside that can just be unplugged, any suggestions would help. Can’t wait to see your next solo album process and videos. 😎🤘🔥
Thanks! Unplug the speaker jack from the speaker and connect it to a reactive load, the reactive load to audio interface and you’re good to go 👌. Or put an attenuator between the amp and the speaker, mic the speaker, connect the mic to audio interface and rawk n roll 😎.

I bought a Wolfgang special and it’s a great guitar, but I’m used to a wider Gibson neck. The nut width on the special was very narrow so I traded it off. I think the striped series has a wider neck am I correct ?

Basswood has a very spongy attack on the wound strings. Personally, I can't stand it. They should have used Northern Ash which has a hard, bright, percussive attack. Northern Ash is what Ed's original Frankie is made of. I was 16 when Van Halen 1 came out and the sound of the original Frankie with a Northern Ash body is burned into my mind. Nothing else works. Having said all that, Euge did an excellent demo here.
I really think the 5150 sounds better with the hotter pickups, I almost think they were hitting the cranked plexi a little too hard, but who can tell over UA-cam? Sounded like you were killing the plexi I guess it’s the tube sag it sounds cool but the 5150 is more articulate.
Yeah I was hitting it really hard. Usually I have all knobs around 8 but for this one I thought that lets do it the old school way and turn everything to 10 😎. The Greenbacks were also really punished and distorted a bit too so the sound wasn’t that articulate but it was rawk n roll 😊🤟.
I once ordered a EVH guitar and it was the worst thing I ever held in my hands. The tremolo was a gong show and detuned just by looking at it , the frets were sharp as knifes and scratched my hand and the overall feel of the guitar was cheap and loveless. I don't know man, I was so disappointed. It was back on it's way to the dealer already two hours after I had played it the first time.
