Ooo, I just had an idea. Spring and Summer is when art markets and conventions run. Maybe that's what you can do during the slow season? Hit some art markets? You've got an amazing stock and it's always fun interacting with the community! I think some large cut outs of Bumblebutt and Pudding would really draw people's eyes!

We have actually thought of this, i love the idea of going back to conventions, but we have so much on this year I don't actually know if I have the energy 🤣 It always takes so much energy to do markets, and you have tohave all the inventory to hand, Id love to do some stalls though I need to look into it hehe

@@KatnippStudios True! It is a lot of energy and a lot to juggle! Maybe you can start with small local ones where you don't have to worry about driving far or booking hotels and just have fun/see what happens. 😊

If the studio building is over 20 years old, then the “right of lights” applies - meaning the studio landlord is entitled to forbid any construction or other obstruction that would deprive them of that illumination. Neighbours can't build anything that obstructs the light without permission. But I’m not sure of this applies in Scotland… these construction usually take ages and hopefully will give you time to look for another when you cross that bridge. Good luck!

Do you do a “back to school” range Catherine? Ex- retail designer here, we used to do a lot for that market and although the sales window is small, it was a HUGE area for fun study stickers/labels/pencil cases etc…..ps keep up the hard work!

not sure about UK law or if it's aposibility as you rent the studio. But here you should be able to object about the build in general or at least parts of it. same that ther might be laws about natural lighting etc. Most of all, I woudn't wait since there isn't a garentee of reduced rent etc. Landlords often don't say anything to avoid work

Regarding the upcoming construction and your worries about how that will affect your work: You should see if the council has a grant program for businesses that will be negatively impacted by the construction. It is likely that you are not going to be the only one it causes problems for, so perhaps you and a few other companies could petition them to put something together to help make up for the potential losses that it will cause.

Have you thought about getting smart plugs and set them up with Google assist, you can then just tell Google or whichever app you pref to turn on the lights and they will just all turn on or off together. You can name them if you want to be able to turn them on individually.

You could get smart lights or smart light switches and then you can say alexa, google, or whatever device you use to turn on all your studio lights on at once! We use them in our house alot and its nice to come home with arms full of groceries and be like, "Alexa, I'm home." and all the lights turn on!! Just an idea

There r plugs u can get which run on a app on ur phone so u cant lose ur remote (also have u thought about using glacier bags instead of cello for ur stickers there more eco friendly)

That really stinks about the studio. I wonder if you could get sun lights (the windows that are on roofs) to bring in more light. My apartment has them and it’s so noticeable when it snows because my desk area is under one and it gets so dark when it’s covered!

This is probably a super stupid question, but since I don't make videos I have no idea loll -- but like, when you walk into your studio and turn the lights on, do you have a camera already set up in there that you can turn on when you walk in? Or do you pre-setup a shot for aesthetic purposes? I'm curious how this is done!

I would have a word with the building owners that you are in and say you found out about the new building, worried as the rooms are dark anyway and that window being blocked will make it even dark and thays why you moved to this room in the first place.
Maybe the buildings owner you are in coudl get some compensation from the council etc and pass that onto who it affects like you
