Our top mechanism will not be flipped out unless our ramp is made vertical, preventing us from breaking SG2 as only forward expansion will be used. After reviewing the footage, I realized that I may have made the false impression that we flip out the top mechanism when the ramp is down. I was holding the camera with one hand and the robot with the other, so it made displaying the features a bit difficult
This is a clear SG2 violation per rules in manual currently. Might be worth some time to put a Q&A in before you get too deep in this!! Just my humble opinion
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We realized that the footage and commentary could have been improved to better explain our robot. We have added a comment with more details that went unexplained in the video
Incorrect. We only expand when the intake is vertical, and bring the flip-out back down before lowering the intake. This insures we aren't breaking any expansion rules
@@SqualicumRobotics-yp3ixfalse. Sg2 subsection b states “From the Robot’s perspective, they may only expand in one “X/Y” direction (i.e., from a single “side” of the Robot). This “side” must be identified and measured during Robot inspection”
@@BellinghamRobotics98225 Expansion only counts when you are outside of the starting 18x18x18 therefore any “expansion” you see out of multiple sides on the robot are most likely contained inside the sizing therefore not being considered actual expansions.

This is a really unique design! I could definitely see this becoming a better way to score on wall stakes then using a 4-bar.

Rubber band your top piston mech to take some of the weight off so you don't have to use another piston or user full pressure.

Yes. We only expand from the front, and take measures to not accidentally expand from the back
