Cybertruck crash test video if ur curious: • Tesla Cybertruck Crash...
#cars #cybertruck #tesla
Here is my math. My value may seem quite small, but it is still a lot of emissions for an EV.
The Cybertruck has a 126kWh capacity and range of 318 miles (dual motor all terrain). That is a rating of 396wh/mi, but with less efficient driving, 450wh/mi. 200kWh with 136 miles is 1,470wh/mi = 147kWh/100mi. Your numbers are already sounding as ridiculous as Graham Conway’s. Everyone makes mistakes, I do too and you might find a few of mine, but the 200kWh figure came from rumors, and the 136 mile figure came from the range recovered in 15 minutes of charging, not the whole battery. 15 minutes of charging is 40% or 50kWh. So you were making massive mistakes already counting a fraction of a charge as a rumored full charge. ( I make mistakes too, don't feel so bad). Now some energy: 1 gallon of gas is about 33kWh of energy at 100% efficiency. 21mpg = 4.76gal/100mi. That is 157kWh of energy just to drive 100 miles. A hybrid would be 50mpg = 2gal/100mi. That is 66kWh of energy to drive 100 miles; so so so much better. Cybertruck is 450Wh/mi (remember inefficient driving) = 45kWh/100mi; 45kWh of energy to drive 100 miles. So when looking at total energy consumption (negating emissions at the moment) used per distance driving, even a big heavy electric truck consumes less energy than a little Prius. This does not even take into account the estimated 4kWh of energy needed from mining oil to delivery in gas tank.
(Side note: gallons or kWh per 100 mile is a much better efficiency metric than miles per gallon. You can watch some videos that explain the psychology and logic behind this reasoning)
Now emissions calculations: So your energy values for the Cybertruck were way off to begin with which threw off your values. You also did some kind of miscalculation for average emissions which was a little funny in this video because total average emissions was already given as .86lbs/kWh in the graph and written in the paragraph. So using 86lbs/kWh (which is still going down the further into the future we go). (45kWh/100mi)*.86 lbs = 38.7 lbs of CO2 or 17.5kg/100mi. Average CO2 per mile with combustion is .4kg/mi or 40kg/100mi. 17.5kg5500. That’s not even half of of the F-150, but that is ridiculous even for an electric car.
I really want everyone to look up Graham Conway's Ted Talk about EVs. Instead of making mistakes like you, he deliberately hides his sources so no once could verify. There are many rebuttal videos you can find that show math that you can verify yourself, if you have time, try Aptera Owner's Club's video. At least you described your math and sources which was how I knew things were way off in your first video and could verify yourself. Even with your math, you still found that an EV produces way less emissions over its useful lifespan compared to gas in your response video.
One thing I just have to address is your use of points. It can be very misleading, let me demonstrate:
Your F-150 won 4-1. Lets keep that the same right now. The Cybertruck comes standard with a bed cover, 4-2. The cybertruck has an accelerator pedal that is just as reactive as a brake pedal, 4-3. The cybertruck can be charged with home solar for "free", 4-4. The Cybertruck has a comfortable and practical air suspension, 4-5.
Of course logically you would say my comparisons are outright silly. Not everyone values a bed cover, or air suspension, or home solar charging as much as others. For me, towing would not even be a comparison because I never even need to do it. Many forums and websites will use this silly point system to move things their way, the same way you showed the F-150 winning, the same way I showed the Cybertruck winning.
I was a day one reservation holder, but since the specs, price and volume production are no where near promised, it just became an expensive machine. I don't want one anymore. I'm a function over form guy and the Cybertruck is something I would not care about with cosmetics. Of course when you have something so polarizing, it creates its own politics.
I appreciate the corrections you made in the follow up and I enjoy the quality voice-over with background. I hope you become successful and best wishes.
They should've done electric vans before electric pickups. Lots of vans are used in parcel delivery and as shuttle buses, following fixed routes in city traffic with lots of stops which is an ideal use case for electric.
the crash test keeps pissing me off, one is a full wall one is a half wall, MAJOR difference. Look at the f150 crashing into a full wall, the cyber truck does better.
I honestly don’t know how I didn’t notice that, it’s super obvious. I still think that it needs a better crumple zone, since it looks like it didn’t handle it well. But you’re entirely right, that’s not a fair comparison at all
@@Wincupfan Also comparing something you have actual numbers on to something that you don't makes the crash test section entirely invalidated.
@@olin9310 very true. The iihs doesn’t seem to want to crash test it though for whatever reason so I went with what I had, probably shouldn’t have without the proper numbers
I’m about to be a jr and I relate with the “barely passing algebra one” part🤣
As though any truck is a good truck..
we get it you dont go outside
you're forgetting the exhaust pollution on the f-150 and the battery of the tesla respectively
Yeah, I realized my math was way skewed for many reasons. Hopefully an updated version will be out tomorrow with those things in mind
@@Wincupfan no worries, everybody learns and improves everyday
BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY: I posted an accurate video which is linked at the end of this video. Please watch it and if I still missed what you’re mad about, then call me a country bumpkin loser who needs the sound of an engine to fill the hole where my fathers love should be (or whatever other hurtful thing you would try to say because I insulted Papi Elon)
sorry if i am out of the subject but what game do u play in this video?
Forza horizon 5. Honestly though if you’re in the market for an open world driving game I would suggest need for speed. Forza has gone downhill recently
@@Wincupfan Thanks a lot ! :))
476 pounds of carbon dioxide is what is produced when burning 23.8 gallons of gas....roughing the tank capacity of a 1/2 ton truck.
You totally forgot to mention that the cyber truck comes with no spare tire and if you add a spare tire it takes all the room in the bed of the useless truck
idc i like it
its different and if you want it then yeah. plus id rather get hit by cybertruck than a lifted truck ngl.
@@aviationist1018 that’s exactly what I said at the end. No car is good for the environment necessarily, but everyone has different tastes
also people who say making lithium batteries is bad for the environment, lithium is one of the most common metals on earth, so this child labor mines you guys keep saying as a counter doesnt count. as well, look how much gas is burned to transport that oil to be refined, and how much pollution it makes.
@@aviationist1018 I'm making a revised version of this video with better math, since I was unfair to the cybertruck. I am gonna include that but I dont think the lithium mines will be easy to math out, so theyre probably gonna be omitted
@@Wincupfan tesla is making newer batteries without cobalt i heard
I'm sure you get this a lot, but nobody is buying the Cybertruck for its practicality. Not one soul. The only reason to own one is because it stands out, its cool and it's fast. Give it another few years for the price to come down and the specs to improve, then I'd understand comparing it to say an F-150.
And in terms of safety, I'd wait to make judgements until the official IIHS results are out. And with comparing the range and environmental impact, I believe that should be a separate video on its own. It takes about 4 or 5 years of average annual driven distance for a normal EV to break even with a gas car's environmental impact, even in the worst conditions.
I originally wanted the Cybertruck but won't get one anymore because the Specs, Production speed and price(adjusted for inflation) is no where near promised. If Tesla can fix those then I absolutely see these as the best selling Tesla after the rumored compact.
even tho I dont like ppl hating on tesla 4 no reason i like the quality of the video so you've earned a sub.
Absolutely yes.
Should’ve covered rollovers
It looks like a stealth jet on wheels
Real
I know this is different from the rest of my videos, but I wanna move in a different direction with my content than what I've been doing
Ur support is greatly appreciated ♥
EDIT: just want to say that crash test was completely stupid on my part. The IIHS hasn’t tested the cyber truck, so consider the score a 3-1 victory for the f150
SECOND EDIT: A REVISED VIDEO IS COMING OUT. This video will stay out because fair points were raised in this video, and theres no sense in deleting a good video with some mistakes. also then I'm gonna feel the shame of being stupid
Green energy on the grid is increasingly common. Comparing carbon footprints is entirely disingenuous in this video. Practically guessing and placing the Tesla in the absolute worst case, while putting the Ford into a more fair one.
I don't even care about the Cyber Truck, but jumping on the bandwagon and making a video so pointless is just a waste of time. I hope you consider taking a step back and only using clear articulable facts in the future.
That’s correct, most places have a lot of green energy today. I think I’m gonna try to correct this and we will see how it maths out. I’m no mathematician but I think taking 60% of that number (the share of fossil fuels in us energy production) I would get a more fair number that places the Tesla in a much more fair standing
With the same flat angles that the f117 uses i wonder if police radar works on it
Now you got me wondering if it’s more aerodynamic 🤔
no f117 had a ton of issues with stability, plus shapes need to be just right in order for it to reflect radar waves away from the source
@@Wincupfan its not Elon did a interview with Joe Rogan and the flat edges of the truck cut the air making flow over the car less smoothly, rounded edges on there other cars are much more aerodynamic.
@@blockenginestudios kinda obvious when I think about it now. Same reason our cars now are more aerodynamic than the ones from the 70s
C'mon, tell us how you really feel...
I did!
lol
I use a truck construction. The Cybertruck looks like a giant pain in the ass to use
Yeah, I bet you would have to recharge every 50 miles if you had anything substantial in the back
6 than having a fake car from a game.
You having a stroke or somethin’?
Can a man not like the Firebird?
wow cool story. i still like it. i still have a f350 and a cyberbeast. get ur funds up.'
That’s your taste, and yeah I definitely can’t afford one. I’ll stick with my truck that’s 16 years old and has no rust, and let’s see how your truck made out of the same stuff as a pot looks after that long!
@Wincupfan I live in the desert so rust will be minimal issue. I am also in the process of building my property as full off grid. When covid 2.0 hits and fuel isn't available (similar to toilet paper) we will see who's driving still. Until then I've got my 2023 f350 dually to do the heavy work.
@@AdmiralTrevMan this is gonna come off as aggressive but I promise it’s just curiosity, how are you gonna charge it? With a generator that needs gas? Natural resources would work but if it breaks then you’ve got the same problem as me
@Wincupfan solar. No need to natural gas, or a generator. And yes something could potentially go wrong with solar but that's a slim chance
Of course it suxks its the first version. Look at the tesla sedans, they have gotten better over the years. Give it a little time im sure they could add some designs for you grown men that want a pretty truck with all the bells whistles and when you open the door a cigar for you. Bunch of prissy men
The cybertruck has way more “bells and whistles” than my truck. My point was if you’re going to advertise a vehicle as a truck, it needs to be able to do truck stuff. I didn’t say that it couldn’t get better either, you clearly didn’t watch or pay attention to what I said
@@Wincupfan comparing it to an f150 which has had much more time to develop and get right wasnt ideal either. Its a new kind of truck just relax itll get better.
@@imaycare5927I get that, but there’s no new truck to compare it to. Wiki said it’s a full sized pickup, I compared it to a full sized pickup. By all accounts that should be a fair fight
@@Wincupfan Crashing safety and carbon footprint are not "truck stuff" to me. They are historically terrible at those two things.
@@olin9310 very true, however if I’m going to be driving these things, I would prefer them to be safe, wouldn’t you agree?
You forgot to mention it's the ugliest truck ever produced lol
We all knew that already (joking of course don’t swarm me Elon fans)
