New kind of sailboat to me! I knew scows were flat-fronted sailboats but never knew they were raced. What advantage does the square front impart? Stability? Planing? They look very fast! Are they easy to recover from a capsize?
The main advantage is high form stability over a short length. This is increased with wings to hike from. They are also very light weighing 30-35kg fully rigged. As a result they are fast in a breeze planing upwind & down. They don't like a chop. Yes, they are easy to right after a capsize. They are really fun boats.
