Well, I think most DBZ fans debate between Freeza and Cell sagas. I personally love both of them. The Buu saga is alright, but I don't like the introduction of fusion, SSJ3, Ultimate Gohan, and Vegeta's sacrifice all doing nothing. Only to end up with the spirit bomb. Wished that fusion would have killed Buu because transformations took out the two first antagonists.
@@Hydroverse Agreed 👍🏿 Buu should have been ended by, imo, a collaboration between Gohan, Gotenks, and then of Toriyama felt he needed Goku, him and Vegeta.
There are people complaining that he's focusing too much on Cell. I, for one, welcome our new Cell Saga Media overlord.

Simple answer, you can’t know what’s never been done/discovered. It’s like wondering why Madame Curie didn’t know that the radiation she was studying could kill her, she just didn’t know and nobody else did.
Bulma built the Time Machine but her and trunks wouldn’t be able to know how time travel worked until after it had been done. Even time travel itself would’ve been just a theory for bulma until the machine worked.

To bo honest, i think all of us dont understand Dragon ball time travel
I think Trunks saying that "his whole existence would be wiped out" might play out more like, either it would create a new timeline where he didn't exist and radically change everything into a new future, or that it could create a paradox, if he is the one creating the changes while he doesn't exist in the timeline he is going to.
He probably thought he would fade away before he realized it didnt work that way in their universe, but it likely would be paradoxical.
*When you saw a YT video that explains there should be a MINIMUM of 25 different timelines*

Future Trunks later goes by Second Dimensional Time Travel. This theory suggests every time you time travel you create a new timeline instead of you actually changing the original timeline your from Trunks’s probably originally believed in first dimensional time travel that theory suggests time traveling will just change your original timeline completely.
this is what happened chronologically in my head :
1. original timeline (1st timeline) --> trunks go to the past --> make the 2nd timeline --> he back to his original timeline, and then back to 3 years after his first time travel (in the 2nd timeline), which ended up him seeing android 20.
2. now that trunks knows where is dr. gero's lab is, so he decided to go back to 3 years ago and then destroyed the lab (as trunks himself said to goku that if he knows where the lab is, he would go to the lab instead of meet goku). this is where the unseen timeline is created (and then initially became the timeline where 13, 14, 15 is activated because 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, or cell doesn't exist.
3. this is where everything is fckd up. eventually, the original timeline itself is separated because there is 2 trunks. the 1 that trained with vegeta --> killed by cell --> revived --> back to the original timeline --> kill the original 17, 18, and cell. while the other 1 is from the moment trunks knows dr. gero's lab --> back to original timeline for refuel or maybe just meet his mother --> back to the past, but he just go to the lab instead of meet goku.
4. because the original timeline itself is separated, it causing 2 different trunks go back to the same exact timeline. and because the 2 different trunks exist in the same timeline, it makes the 3rd separated version of the original timeline. which make the stronger trained trunks kills the original 17 and 18, but he is not killing cell because cell kills the other trunks and stole his time machine before trunks managed to back to the past for destroying the lab.
the conclusion is, there is 3 different timelines just from the original timeline itself. 1st is the "original" original where eventually trunks kills 17, 18, and cell. 2nd is when trunks go back to destroy the lab. 3rd is where the 1st and 2nd meet, when trunks kills 17 and 18, but cell managed to go back to the past.
I think, much like Marty McFly, Trunks may have gotten the basic gist of time travel, but hasn't fully wrapped his head around the specifics of it.
I believe new time lines are created whenever a paradox occurs and not just traveling through time. The timeline split when trunks became aware that cell had used his time machine, not when cell traveled through time. This made trunks stay in the present instead of traveling to the future. Its similar to zamasu being erased, creating a paradox because of goku black, and thus creating a new timeline/time ring. Changing the future changes the timeline, not simply time traveling.

Not sure where to ask this, but could you do a video on humans and their advance ki control and manipulation? i always assumed thats why hybrid earthling/sayains had such huge gains in power, because they innately have better ki control than normal sayains. The latest chaper of super leads me to believe this even more when its shown that gohans beast form is simlar to broly raging out but because gohan is half earthling he can control it.

On his first time travel (back to when Freeza arrived to Earth), there was still a possibility for the "correct theory" of Time Travel to work like this:
a) Travels back in time, changes things in a fundamental, irreversible way [example: Bulma & Vegeta never had a child].
b) He does not disappear instantly like "Marty McFly", nor his memories or body is changed while "in the past".
c) He travels back to the future, but as soon as he arrives his body experience the equivalent of a "Hakai" (Destruction Energy), as the universe itself "does the job" of correcting "The Anomaly" (an entity or object that could never exists at that moment).
-> His time machine MAY still remain behind (if the Bulma of this altered future also managed to create one), perhaps getting some of the internal data "scrambled" enough that it can never be recovered [it is still "there", but can never be interpreted to be useful]; with the hardware still perfectly functional.
IF THIS ^ theory was correct, then future!Trunks would assume that this is a one-way ticket.
. He could choose to remain in the past, possibly getting himself "Hakai" anyways when he "arrives" to that exact the same date that he departed from originally (going through "the slow way" without the time machine).
. Even if he can not "bring Goku" with him (or learn anything he did not knew before timetraveling & then returning with that "advantage" to defeat himself the androids of his time); at LEAST there will be one other future were humanity is not exterminated [The Greater Good].

Had me thinking about XenoVerse 1 for some reason i can't wrap my head around that game played with the idea of trunks being erased from existence when villians were trying to mess with own his past, but that shouldn't even be happening
My Thoughts are that the Timeline we are seeing is the the original timeline and it was already going to be different from Future Trunks Timeline however we didn't get to see that play out because of Trunks doing time travel leading to Cell. Basically I don't think there was originally just one timeline if any of that makes sense😅. Great video👍

You should go over the Goku Black arc because all the time travel in that one had me the most confused I've ever felt in my life when I watched the anime
Essentially, there are two points in time that the arc focuses on: the present and Future Trunk's future. After Zamasu is killed in the present, it creates a branch in the timeline. However, they still got to deal with the future Zamasu and Goku Black.

yeah it seems that dragonball time travel works on multiple universe theory (which in dragonball is no longer a theory, it's a fact), as we know trunks' future is a different timeline than the main timeline we see on dragonball because traveling back on time creates branches on the timeline (let's not get into the possible paradoxes), on Dragonball Abridged they played around with the idea that Trunks and Bulma not only didn't know all that before Trunks traveled back to the past but also that Bulma realized it the momment trunks left (since everything around her was still destroyed their present didn't change)), I don't remember how they explain this on dragonball since there's a long time since I watched it but the point is that Trunks going back and fourth through time was something that have never happened before (canonically) so they didn't actually know what's up yet.. (although I'm on the first 5 minutes of the video so I guess you'll break it down more than I did here)

Time travel still to this day is all theoretical. Time travel is all based on whoever writes the story. TMNT pioneered the time travel/multiverse concept and their rules differ than DB. X-Men Days of Future Past did the same thing and their rules differ as well. Harry Potters time travel rules are also completely different. It all depends on the writer bcuz time travel has never happened in real life.
If Goku used Instant Transmission to kill King Cold and Frieza in Trunks' timeline, Cell should've known Instant Transmission as well because he came from a History of Trunks' timeline.
Hey Mike, in your “unseen timeline” video, you stated everything pretty much played out the same as the main timeline up until piccolo fusing with Kami. How could all the butterfly effects that took place in the main timeline also play out in the unseen timeline if it’s implied that cell going back in time and creating the main timeline is the reason for all the changes? (i.e. Goku’s heart virus occurring later, androids 19 & 20 showing up to the island, 17 & 18 being stronger yet less evil, & the existence of 16. I’m sure you’ve already tackled this but Id love to have it explained in detail. Thanks!
I know Trunks time traveling to the unseen timeline would have created some of those butterfly effects as well but how could all of them occur just like they did in the main timeline if there was no cell that traveled to the past of the unseen timeline?

I've always believed that the android saga played out pretty much as it did in the first part, trunks is aware that Dr gero was killed by 17 and 18, there's nothing to suggest that's Dr gero wasn't already an android at that time, trunks just may not have known
I always figured a lot of Trunks' bad takes come from him operating on essentially hearsay from his mom, who was not there to see how Goku would take down Frieza, or the other androids, so Trunks wouldn't know either.
Something adjacent to Trunks' timeline that I've always found strange was the addition of Goku being done in by the heart virus.
What was the point of that plot point? As far as I know Goku was weaker than the androids, just like Vegeta and Trunks were as "mere" SSJ's, so he would also have been killed anyway. A real toriyama-ism.

Simple answer before watching the video: No one really understands how time travel works. You do not have to understand it to be able to time travel at all and even if you created a machine to time travel it does not mean you understand how time travel actually works. It would take empirical data to actually understand, which is funny cause depending on how it works you might not be able to get that data.
Later in the video: Cell not picking a time for himself, means that Cell is not that bright or actually liked the time that Trunks picked. Maybe Cell did not get Gohan's brains or a mix of the brains did not help Cell.
I do not think Trunks understood Time Travel when he killed Cell in his universe, he was just doing it as a reaction which is most of trunks actions and why he should not bee liked.
Trunks isn’t the first time traveler, remember universe 12 had a time traveller long ago, which happened before the Android saga

I mean in all honesty the guy’s mom literally just invented time travel. I doubt even bulma who invented it fully understand how it works. I imagine after trunks returned the first time bulma started to understand how it work better (but still not completely) and probably tryed to explain it to trunks.. but let’s be real…. Guy more of a fighter than an expert scientist.
So thanks to Dokkan Battle It came to my mind that Vegeta was pretty much a Bad Guy up until he aided Gohan by attacking Cell possibly caused by Cell Killing Trunks and Thanks to Majin Vegeta he was actually a Antagonist or Anti Hero for Majority of the Z Anime and Manga
Ok guys, I have a question. I just thought of this. Why didn't Trunks take Goku with him to the future? Could they both fit in the pod? If so, then the 2 super saiyans could take a swing at the androids and try to defeat them early. Or, if that wouldn't work, why didn't Trunks stay with the Z-fighters in the past? He could've gotten so much stronger in that time. I don't understand why Trunks returned to his time for 3 whole years, when it was obvious that staying in the future did nothing for him. I think either choice would've been better.

Well, to be fair to trunks, nobody understands time travel. I've never seen any story properly address all the plot holes that time travel creates EXCEPT, oddly enough, H.G. Well's "the time machine", but that only works because the protagonist only ever went to the future. There's no issues with that whatsoever as that cannot create a paradox in the present.
I would recommend watching Dark on Netflix and the movie Primer. Both are very meticulous with how they explain the in-universe science and mechanics of time travel in a way to where it makes complete sense.

About what Trunks said, regarding the strength of the main timeline androids vs. the strength of the future androids I take as an undeniable truth. No, it was obvious that Trunks meant present Trunks might not exist if Goku will reveal his identity. That has nothing to do with lacking understanding of time travel. Honestly if present Trunks didn't exist I wouldn't care to begin with, because he and Goten are two disposal trash characters. The other points in this video are really good. Also it make sense to me Trunks doesn't understand time travel. He by no means stupid but he is not a genius like his mom. I wish he came back to the start of DBZ. Raditz would be destroyed in a second, as well as the Saibamen and Nappa without anyone dead. It was also prevent the genocide of the Namekians.
I think future bulma didn't truly explain how it works, Or when cell kill trunks in future might erase his memory or timeline wipe out. Just my theory

What if freiza coming to earth only happened cause trunks/ cell went back in time in the current time line and that's why trunks didn't know how things happened

Not quite. Because _BTTF2_ still follows the linear approach to time travel. Because if it was multiverse theory in _BTTF2,_ then Marty and Doc would've been able to travel back to 2015 to stop old Biff. But, no. Doc said because of how time works, if they did that, the 2015 they'd go to is that of the reality old Biff created.
Whereas _Dragon Ball's_ time travel is purely based in multiverse theory, because Trunk's future timeline is completely unaffected by the changes made in our main heroes' timeline.
It follows the Terminator logic. Straight up until all the reboots and completely foregoing all logic in super. 😂

no one undestands time travel and that was the idea in dragon ball, bulma sent trunks back unsure of the effects time travel could have in other words it was the first time travel ever be recorded and there's no way for anyone to tell whats gonna happen before it happens, I mean, youi're right... but the only reason your argument is valid is because you're "cheating" you have seen the actual future and several examples of time travel how it actually works in dragon ball info neither bulma or trunks had at the moment is part of the scientific research method, the very first step is to observe something and you can't if no one ever traveled in time, I mean, asking bulma how time travel works in her world is the same as asking you how time travel works in OUR world, and without an actual time machine to try... we have no idea... just like bulma...

First off, no I don’t “only” cover videos about the Cell Saga. I talk about whatever I want to at the time. And second, I don’t care what any other channel is doing. I’m not them nor do I want to be.
My channel gets the most views talking about this part of the series. So, clearly most people, or at least the algorithm, wants me to discuss it.
Whats even more strange about the time machine being set a year early is that Cell is supposed to have killed Trunks and stolen the time machine after Trunks killed the future androids and was going back to tell Goku and co that he had succeeded so he should be travelling to a time after present Cells destruction... 4 years after the machine was set for.. and this is after he has used the machine at least 4 times.

Which it’s weird how trunks didn’t know that Goku defeated Freeza because in the original timeline Goku used instant transmission to go to earth and then he stopped freezer and his father so definitely strange how Bowman never told Trump that because I’m sure Goku would’ve told Oma about the technique these Bulmer would’ve heard about it
