@@chocolatemilk6022 actually the more I think about the more it makes sense. She had the barrier up during the battle so she couldn't erect another barrier while inside the barrier. Whoops.

Why do all these badass characters who can kill hoards of monsters normally act like complete idiots in cutscenes

They are good at fighting monster but are not enogh good at fight other people, monster is stupid and we can just hit and kill but people can deflect and fight us. That is why when final fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, when it comes a scene to fight a horde of monster, it would be a piece of cake, but when it comes to fight others, it is dramatic as hell 😂
Because the story sucks
AT least only about 3 or 4 cutscenes in the game have this problem.

I love it how they both run into each other at 3:01, making it seem like they want to attack, but then dodge roll at the same time. Also it happened twice in a row which looked very cool! I know it (probably) wasn't intentional but still, it looked as if they wanted to use the same technique lol
@Tam873 technicalities. I just called it a dodge roll because it's easier lol. Aqua does almost the same thing btw, I believe it's called a cartwheel?

I think there’s a limitation on just how many barriers she can make at a time depending on how big the target is bc while V only shot at it once to make it begin to shatter back in bbs when they were fighting xeonhenort and she tried to protect terra it took multiple shots to take it down
@@Quenmanp Late reply, but we see very clearly in gameplay that her barriers can easily block Vanitas' fireballs. Instead of making (poor) excuses for the writing, stuff like this needs to be called out for any real improvement to be made.

Seems like they nerfed Aqua in cut-scenes.
Every good guy is nerfed in cutscenes, it's ridiculous really. Like when Larxene casually traps Sora in an ice labyrinth even though her powers are the electric type, and later on she also casually pushes him out of a mountain with wind.
spending 12 years in the Realm of Darkness will do that to you. Techincally speaking Aqua shouldn't even be moving!

I just wish one of Soras shotlocks was like this .. they are all just lock on and go.. they fleshed out BBS better and they had 3 characters with multiple different shotlocks .. could just be me though
It's not bro. They kind of spent too much time monopolizing all the friggin intermediary stuff and not enough thought and care into a THOROUGH CONCLUSION TO A SAGA. Something is definitely missing here and it's key. Still a good game though lol

It still baffles me to this day how Aqua decided just planting herself in front of the fireball was the best option. Like, you had a full second to take your stance and you didn’t even TRY to block it with your keyblade. Nope, need to job real quick so Sora can jump in!
Yeah.. the way KH3 repeatedly disrespected its characters and bungled so many pay offs ultimately killed my investment int the series (and believe me, it was a slow and PAINFUL proccess). I still love the prior games to bits, but anything after this failure of a climax doesn't have my interest.

Love seeing powerful aqua. And I'm okay with characters taking a hit in cutscenes. But F*CK OFF with her not using barrier. It's her /SIGNATURE ABILITY/
Gameplay aside, maintaining her larger barrier might have prevented her from casting another.

Beautiful Aqua gameplay.
I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that if Vanitas was using attacks strong enough to break through the big barrier, Aqua figured in that moment that there was no sense in just using her normal barrier anyway.
It didn't break through the barrier though. And Aqua's smaller barriers are capable of blocking up to six fireballs from Vanitas at once during gameplay and barely gets phased at all. Also, that barrier cracking in the cutscene in the first place was just for the sake of plot as it was able to take all of Vanitas' other attacks, including fireballs (again, during gameplay) without getting phased at all. The field barrier was also able to keep out SDG the entire battle, including after Aqua got knocked down by Vanitas. Why would the barrier crack at ALL from Vani's attack, but be unaffected by SDG, or any of Aqua and Vanitas' other attacks during the battle? Plot.
So we can play as aqua, but not Lingering Will?

Vanitas is weak as every villain with dark heart, so of course he tries to cheat his way to victory.
That however doesnt change the fact that Aqua acted immature and dumb here.
Strategy:
Vanitas can be relatively easy as Aqua’s moves are fast so it mainly comes down to just spamming your attacks to prevent Vanitas from making any real moves. Spell Weaver is especially useful in this battle in order to deliver damage quickly.
Try going without magic at all. The fight suddenly becomes a lot harder.

Actually it was 3 fireballs merging into 1 so the power of it was much greater
@@WeaponXemcail"one fireball attack" doesn't necessarily equate to "one fireball." Either way Aqua can tank roughly a total six of them at once (making up a single fireball attack from Vani) in this fight without blocking even with less than full vitality, so it's inconsistent regardless.
Vanitas would've incinerated Ventus with 1 Big Fireball had Mickey not saved him!

Vanitas seems to not even have a proper revenge counter. Now that he has proper stagger, he's super easy. Another reason BBS boss design is crap lol.

@@sakonan4883 I wouldnt say it's that. I mean, we're all past that "all women are emotional" point. But I think aqua's VA fails to convey ANY emotion in ANY instance, even when she should. If, for example, Riku's VA was as monotone and grating as Aqua's, people would complain just as much. It's cause you hear her voice a lot, and personally, I cant stand to listen to the "depressed office worker" voice that is Aquas.
