I tried this once and realized I forgot to like your vid that it is the BEST tutorial ever. I had more images to correct and could not find your video anywhere, it took me an hour to find it but i did! and I liked and subscribed. Thank you so much!
OMG I'm literally a beginner starting from today and this was literally THE BEST super short and to-the-point videos I saw! I applied it as I went with your video and it gave me literally amazinggg results!! Thank you so much!
one of the most valuable 3 minutes videos I have ever followed. Photoshop has become too expensive and I am looking for alternatives. Thanks for this wonderful tutorial
Excellent tutorial. Short, to the point and very helpful. The only issue I've had so far with this is that clouds can get blown out. May have to mask to prevent that. Thanks for sharing!
Could you explain why using a blur filter is necessary? I would just like to understand why and possibly how I could use your system in future pics. I really like your tutorial. It was a great.
This is a very informative tutorial. I like how you got right to the point and kept it simple. Very curious as to what the blur part played in the whole thing. Hmmm..... Great tutorial! Thank you!
Hi there, just starting to use GIMP and I’m amazed at its versatility. I wonder can you tell me why or how this works please - the effect is very dramatic
What is the actual difference of this method vs simply using shadow & highlight controlling? Is it just the blur? Never-the-less, I noticed that this method doesn't seem to work well if original pictures are quite saturated, so there seems to be a need for desaturation of the root layer, but after that it does bring some nice results.
Hi, great tutorial. Question: I have a lot of images to be edited. Do I have to do this individually for all of them or is there a way I can save the same settings and use it for the other remaining photos ? Something like a preset. If yes, can you please show me/comment as to how I should do this ? Thanks.
I've used this for a couple years with no problems, but when I updated to Gimp 2.10 it doesn't work the same (result is way off). Has anyone had the same problems? Anyone know a workaround?
Please make more.. wow! im amazed how you did it.. i want to learn your techniques and skills on gimp man..especially on photo editing..it would be a big help to me..
I just got a DSLR Camera, and have no idea what I am doing editing my very nice pictures (due to me now having a nice camera) POP. Can someone explain to me what actually happened in this video? Is this a standard way that many people use to make their pictures look drastically better like he just did (making copies of the original, desaturate, invert/blur, grain merge with original)? Just looking for a little explanation behind the amazing outcome.
I've been a lifelong photoshop user and I'm just starting to experiment with Gimp on Ubuntu. You have some great tutorials. Many thanks for taking the time to do these.
I Like your tutorials. I am a beginner with chroma key photography. When I take a photo against the green screen my photo is very green. (Foreground) How do I adjust it to be less green?
fantastic. This has now become a regu;lar part of my workflow, and i use the the fotoling method for tougher under exposed images - thank you so much - you're a star.
Easily one of the best tutorials I've seen! Simple, effective and to the point without drawing it out for 30 minutes. Subscribed! Great job.

How is it different from increasing saturation and contrast?
can we get same results with that?
Loud and clear... Thanks 👍👍
Nice video. I'll be using this trick often I think for that little extra "pop". Can't figure out what blurring does exactly, but results look good!
I've used this for a couple years with no problems, but when I updated to Gimp 2.10 it doesn't work the same (result is way off). Has anyone had the same problems? Anyone know a workaround?

It is possible to make stars in a circular path in gimp?
Simply great. Thank you so much.
Only one question: Do you shoot in jpg or in raw? Is the format important for this kind of editing? Thanks!
Dominik Nguyen - GIMP cannot directly edit raw images. GIMP can be called from a raw editor, such as Darktable, however.
