My x mother had a border cat but I suspect she was abused.
On the other I saw a Siamese kitten in Thailand the mother was black and white dad was black. The kitten is now a big solid boy and beautiful temperament. Unfortunately I couldn't bring him back to Australia.

Our Siamese was silent the first 7 years of his life. I would tease him and get him all worked up and he'd meow with ferocity. Then he found his voice and I think he had a vocabulary of about 65 words. I'd ask him how his day was, and he'd look me in the eyes and go on and on about his day. It came across as mostly complaints. He died at 15 two years ago and I still miss him.

My Siamese cat was with me for 19 years. He never ever cause problems, he was much like a baby pampered all his life. Where I live people may change or move to new places (renters that is) either May 1st or July 1st, so around July 2nd I heard a tiny little meow getting my newspaper, didn't think much about it. Later mid-afternoon, I decided to sit on my balcony to read a book, I heard more little meows, I was surprised because it seems to be from around the same flowerbeds or so. This time I look around, and there was this tiny little Siamese blue point kitten, I called him over and he did respond to my calls. Yet he was too tiny to get up my staircase, so I took him in my hands, went back inside, left him on a chair next to mine, and then fed him chicken breast pieces. Well, I name him Kymy, he was nurtured and declawed on his 4 paws, I was very mad at first not toward him, but who leaves a kitten who can't fend for himself outside on a day like this. Anyway, Kymy never was allowed to go outside again. He enjoyed our house 2 stories, 4000 Sq ft, to make it his domain. He would wait for me when getting back from work (did the same to my brother) he would meow his whole night fun to me, enjoying his daily 20 minutes of brushing, then feeding time, he would not leave me, he had to be at arm's lenght so he could be pet and feel love. When I was at my computer he was next to my chair, if I didn't pet him, he would jump on my knees and ask for more petting with a whole lot of meows and happy purring. He would sleep behind my bended knees and he was a happy cat until 2 or 3 months before he died due to old age, because in the last few days of his life he had trouble jumping to sleep behind my knees I had a little staircase done for him to go up or down.

He also likes to climb me if I don't pay him enough attention😂 I work from home so I'll always be here and I'm SO happy to learn they live to 20 years old. There are no cons from my perspective. @@weatherloops They're smarter than most other cat breeds. Every time I tease him with string he swats it twice then dives at me and tries to climb up my sweatpants. He doesn't understand what the string wants, but he knows I'm in cahoots with it. He's also unusually fearless. He attacks the bottoms of my feet when I'm walking down the stairs thus causing me to almost step on him and also sticks his little paws in doorway cracks to try and stop me from closing them. I have to be extremely careful with him until he develops some common sense. The best thing he does is purr and sleep at the drop of a hat. If I pick him up when he wants to play, he squirms for a few seconds, then starts purring, then gives up and falls asleep with his paws in the air. He's the most wonderful cat I've ever had :)

The only con I can think of a Siamese, is that when they die you're left like an empty carcass that remains having vitals even tho you died. When my 19 years old Micha passed away it was, I kid you not, harder to deal with than the death of loved relatives.

@@caroltraftondale1475 I understand you. I had the fortune of being adopted nearly 3 months after that by a stray cat who seemed like a kitten but was stoutly built and weighted ober 8 pounds. I thought it was beige but it was just dirty. Turned out to be a khao manee, to my surprise. Never heard of the breed before and it behaved like a bat out of hell but the poor thing had severe allergies. Now, 4 years later, he's a healthy boy, 20+ pounds (so it was actually a kitten when he strolled into my shop and made me his human) and as sweet and as affectionate as a Siamese, but a tad more "independant".

My flame point Siamese is a dingus 😆 dumbest cat I ever had but also the most loving and lovable. At 16, he doesn’t show any signs of slowing down yet and loves to spend most of the day sleeping on a heating pad. It’s true that they can get lonely when alone in the house so after his good friend, Lily, passed away at 18, I got Kahli the Destroyer (little black house panther) so he would have company. They ignore each other for the most part, but just having her presence is a comfort to him.

My mom used to have an apple head Siamese cat since 2006, she used to go with my mom everywhere. When I was born she was so calm/chill with me around, I used to pull her fur when I was 9 months old, she didn’t even care that much about it. When I was around 2-3 she ran away from home and she was never found. When I was 7 we decided to get a new Siamese mix cat, her name is Chloe. My mom owned her for 4 years and then I decided when I was 12 to take care of Chloe since I am an absolute cat person! She used to be really scared of me and now we are really close! She usually comes to my door in the morning and meows a lot since she wants fed. She is so gentle and friendly, she sometimes does hiss or get upset when people annoy her (mostly my dad lol). I’m turning 14 this year and she is super sweet! I love her so much!

I had a Siamese duo. Purchased December 2002. Half brother and sister. The girl was an extremely petite Seal Point, the boy a huge Blue Point (at the end of his life he weighed 8 plus KG, a very big cat). Jackson and Bella were their names.
These cats were an enormous influence on my daughter's lives. Bella used to talk constantly (a very loud Siamese yowl), Jackson, on the other hand despite being a huge cat, had this totally effimate squeak.
These two beautiful cats had such a huge impact on my daughter's lives.
They were their best friends, a source of comfort, and great play buddies.
In your video you state that Siamese cats are not good for toddlers. I firmly disagree.
My youngest daughter was 2 years old when Jackson and Bella entered her life. And yes, she used to pick them up and carry them about the house (much to the cat's discomfort). But these cats loved all our young daughters and they equally loved them as well.
These beautiful cats loved their young mistresses as these young girls absolutely adored their beautiful cats.
Siamese cats are not just cats. They are 'HU-Cats', ie. Human Cats'. Their love, bonding and total allegiance to their owners transcends every other experience you will have with any other animal.
They are totally unique. If you want a pet that becomes a part of your family then I recommend a pair of Siamese cats. The impact they will have is truly magical. Truly amazing magical cats and pets.
Their loss is something which still causes severe pain.
But, their impact is still lingers. To have a couple of cats who were human like is just HUGE.
Honestly, Jackson and Bella were the best things to happen in our life!!!!!

The allergen warning is so true. When I was 20, my family adopted a non-pedigreed snowshoe from a local shelter. We thought she'd be a low allergen cat because of her short fur.
Not true - she's double coated and sheds like crazy! Sweet cat though. Very affectionate and not whiney like some Siamese are. She's still going at 15 years old!

This is the siamese cat video I agree with most so far. I have a siamese, and when her ragdoll companions moved out with their owner she definitely missed their companionship. I got a kitten and they play all the time now, and it did take a paced, careful introduction period to get them to this point. It took a little less than two weeks from kitten's arrival to fully integrated, and it was very worth it.
My siamese is definitely vocal. I consider that a plus, but I know I don't hold the majority opinion on that one.

A beautiful Siamese cat just showed up at my house back in March, and it had apparently become feral - but it was the most gorgeous feral cat I had ever seen… when I could see it, because as soon as I got anywhere near - there would be this cream-colored streak to go hide under my house. Eventually he became friendly, and talkative, and let me met him. His ear had been tipped (as are most strays in my neighborhood!), and I started thinking about adopting him to live with my family and our other cats. One day a couple weeks ago, I tried picking him up briefly - no problem at all! So a couple days later I picked him up and brought him inside. He is tolerant of my other cats (and vice versa), and since I am retired I am home most of the time. He clings to me like crazy! He lets me bet his chest and belly, gives me love bites, and all the pros in this video are true with him! I have no pedigree on him obviously, but he was someone’s precious pet at one time. He was not chipped, I scoured the “lost pets” categories of all social media, no sign of him anyplace, so I am keeping him. His name is Sugar. Sweetest cat I have ever known!

Our “current” Siamese (Mr. Pink) just turned 20 yrs old. Vet says heart, lungs, strong so who knows how long he will live. LOL. He is the “old” original “Apple Head” line and a beautiful FLAME POINT!! Cream body with RED points!! He is stunning, and KNOWS IT!! Everyone one who see him says he is the “Most Beautiful Cat” they have ever seen!! (And he has been seen by a lot of people over the years.). Vet had to pull all upper teeth on left side as got a BAD abscess!!😢. He was a trooper, got through the surgery with flying colors and is back running HIS HOUSE of 5 cats, 2 dogs, and 4 adults. He loves it because there ALWAYS is a lap available for him to occupy “for the rest of his natural life!!” YES!! They LOVE to sit on laps and can become vocal and annoyed when you want to get up. Mr. Pink’s claws ALWAYS find something to grasp in order to make the standing up process more difficult than it should be!! He runs this menagerie with a firm and iron PAW when necessary. He is our Baby Boy, and we relish each day we have with him now as age DOES have a way of sneaking up on you when least expected.

I watched this video, because my wife and I are seriously considering another Siamese for the house. We've had a couple years ago, and a couple of mixed ones since that time. You are spot on about them being vocal (sometimes too much), intelligent, playful and loving. They can also be spiteful, will steal any food you leave on the counter (one of ours stole TWO whole chickens that were thawing), and quickly learn to open doors at the most inappropriate times lol. Still, this is the breed we decided upon and know what we are getting into. We lost our 3 dachshunds in 2020 within a few months of each other and haven't had a pet since. It's a big step for us, and your video reminded me what we are getting into. Thank you. And we will definitely adopt.

Siamese Cats are amazing aristocrats among cats.
Cats are naturally social creatures, and assemble into cat colonies. My local shelter keeps cats together in colonies, and they get along together.
I would adopt two or a few cats if my building allowed pets.
During my childhood, I was raised with two alpha female cats who did not get along with each other. They were not introduced properly, because we did not have any Jackson Galaxy cat videos during the 1960s.
Calico TC was the senior cat, who just showed up as a gentle, friendly stray, house-trained, spayed, and was a skilled predator. She owned our yard, and could be seen hunting throughout my neighborhood.
Siamese Lucy was adopted when my father's friend's Siamese Queen had a litter of pure Siamese kittens. The day my father brought her home, I remember her walking around the kitchen, filling the house with her distinctive Siamese voice. Having seen the movie "That Darned Cat" Lucy did not seem to be strange.
The first time they saw each other, it was a war between two Alpha Females, who instantly disliked each other. They hissed, howled, and swatted at each other for the next 15 years.
Eventually they divided the house between each other, with certain rooms belonging to one or the other. They divided the Living Room and Kitchen by sides of the room.
The TV belonged to Siamese Lucy, because the vacuum tubes kept it warm. One day one of my brother's friends saw Lucy in her Sphinx pose, and remarked "I swear I saw your statue move!"
Feeding time always was challenging. We would have to feed Lucy first, before feeding TC. Then Lucy would leave her food, and edge TC away from TC's food. TC would just walk to the door, as if to say "I can catch better stuff than that!" Within a half hour, TC could be seen chowing down on some unfortunate rodent or bird.
One day TC was absolutely insistent demanding to go outside, despite the rain. So I opened the front door to show TC that it was pouring rain. This angered TC, she pulled her ears back, and turned away from the door. At that moment, Lucy came bopping into the room, happy with her tail straight up. TC hissed and attacked poor Lucy, who had an expression like "What did I do?!?"
Those incidents went on for 15 years, until TC died. Lucy walked the house for days, calling mournfully and searching for her rival housemate. Lucy adjusted to being an only cat for the next two years.
Decades later, I still miss those two stepsisters.

Another thing to remember about the siamese cat is despite being a more intelligent breed they still don't always look before they leap. They will also sometimes eat things that aren't good for them like potted house plants, soap, and even plastic. You really need to cat proof your house before you get a siamese cat.

I have a Thai Siamese cat named Pooka. He's a silly boy who loves snuggles. I got a rescue cat tabby (Loki) as a companion and they got a long within a day or two. Pooka already liked him while Loki whined because Pooka kept sniffing his butt. They really love each other now. One thing that wasn't mentioned was that Siamese can be protective of their family/territorial. Pooka can be like this towards people he thinks are not allowed in my place. He's very friendly with others but has been aggressive or menacing to a few. My step mom because she barged into the loft I was renting and he really didn't like that. And when I had a friend visit from overseas. Pooka would sit on him and sleep but would stare him down and look like a spring ready to release. I think he was jealous because Loki loved him and would always cuddle and sleep with him and not with Pooka.

He would look straight into my eyes with his big beautiful big eyes and walk up my chest to show love. He tried to protect me from dangers (such as going in the shower) by grabbing my leg and telling me “don’t go in there!”. Just a wonderful and intelligent companion. I hope you all enjoy every moment with your Siamese! If they are like Finn, there are so many “Pros” that, if there are any “cons”, they are irrelevant.

as a breeder for decades yes originally a Siamese and orange domestic cat were bred to achieve a "Flame point" true but they are now a permanent colour referred to as Flame point or Red point and can be short or long haired which is called Balinese. Most often male and colour points can be quite dark or on the paler side. Torrie points are often mistaken for a mixed breed but also come in various colour points. Seal Torrie, blue Torrie etc. Reds have pink noses and Torties sometimes depending on colour point. Darker points have dark violet blue eyes and lighter points like reds, lilac etc have lighter, bright blue. Whatever colour, they are usually all very affectionate with their owners and are usually long lived, if you
choose your Siamese carefully and ask questions or buy from a reputable breeder.

My first Siamese was a red point; what you call flame point. I bred Siamese for decades... One of my queens used to start giving birth, then hide the kitten in my bed ( with me in it..)then get back to work. When I came to Ireland and saw the terrible situation here with ferals and strays I changed tack, and now after 20 years of rescue work? Two Siamese are in another rescue needing homes and they are coming to me...YAY! There are no cons.... they are themselves simply. And my current moggie rescues as I am homebound 24/7 are as affectionate and quirky as thet Siamese... You get what you put in... One of my current cats is part Oriental and the sheer extra intelligence so reminds me of Siamese ,, Oh and they can beat dogs at being clever any day

Siamese Cat Lucy and the Thanksgiving turkey...
From the moment that the turkey started thawing, Siamese Cat Lucy loudly announced that she wanted that bird. The entire time it was in the oven, she yowled for her share of turkey. That made for a long day trying to distract and amuse a loud and determined Siamese Cat who was obsessed by that bird.
Meanwhile, Calico TC was her usual stoic and self-controlled self. She was a Zen Master among cats, but she wanted her share of turkey when it was time to eat. Canned cat food was off the menu as long as there was leftover turkey in the house.
    I miss those two stepsisters.

We had one of these cats. His name was Jeff. He passed away at the age of 22. He was smart, and we estimated that he could understand roughly 40% of our vocabular. He was able to mimic roughly 20 human words, including my name and my wife's name. Human words were hard for him to pronounce, since cat's mouths are shaped a little different than our. It was clear from the context that he understood what he was saying, and was very pleased that we understood him. It was hard to understand him, but there was clearly structure and syntax to his vocalizations. He really did like a good conversation. His instincts told him that he was a carnivorous predatior who hunted by stealth. He would sit at the window sills for hours, staring out at the yard and the woods beyond. He got out of the house a few times and we realized he didn't have a clue how to find food, water, or shelter on his own. When we found him, he was glad to come home to his big food and water bowls.
    We miss him. RIP Jeff.
