Part 7: • Martin Shkreli on Buyi...
Part 1: • Martin Shkreli on How ...
--------
Martin Shkreli, who once bought Wu-Tang Clan's exclusive album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" for $1.5 million, recently shared his thoughts on the record. Shkreli didn’t mince words, calling the album "bad." He suggested that the project's value was never really about the music itself. Comparing it to Wu-Tang's iconic debut, "36 Chambers," Shkreli was critical, arguing that even though "36 Chambers" was great for its time, its impact doesn't necessarily endure in today's musical landscape. He highlighted how musical production and tastes have evolved, pinpointing that today's hip-hop is a different beast, driven by significant investments and evolving production techniques. Despite Shkreli’s harsh critique, DJ Vlad defended "36 Chambers" as a timeless piece, underscoring the subjective nature of musical appreciation. The discussion veered into broader topics, with Shkreli asserting hip-hop's adaptive, youthful nature compared to other genres like rock and jazz. - Розваги

Name the last biggest rock band this man proceeded to say Taylor swift 😂
“to a certain degree” 😂 come onnnnnn vlad
you cannot make this sh** up
Taylor Swift is a great band
That’s insane work
36 Chambers is one of the greatest albums of all time. Forget about genre, one of the greatest albums of all time.
Spends a million on a track and its automatically good? Sums up this guys whole persona and thought process.
Drake's production is dope as Hell though
That's not what he's saying...
He never said it was good, he was just saying that rap has evolved and people's tastes have evolved with it.
@@just_browsin i wouldn't say ppl taste have changed. I remember how viral teh NY Drill was like 4 years ago. The production on those videos was barely 20k. Chicago drill was even less.
I think he was just using that as an example of how hip-hop has changed. Not necessarily saying it's automatically good.
Homie paid 1.5m for a Cilvaringz album that featured 80% Wu affiliates LMAO
Son is wildin' - 36 Chambers is a certified classic. The fact that is was made while Wu was all hungry MCs, with that production gritty sound added to its flavor.
But it's all about personal taste.
That album is 31 years old. It sounds nothing like modern hip hop. It was good for its time. Thats all he said. he didnt say it was bad
@@dianevrules He even said it's a great album! :P
He’s bugging too. I was just playing it today and yesterday and go back to it a lot of times throughout the year every year

36 Chambers is a CLASSIC. It will be 🔥 Forever. Classics can come out in any time period...Martin is tripping
It’s simple. He bought that album because he wanted to be seen as cool.
People like him don’t care about being “cool” they know their lane… he brought it with the same mentality that he buys everything else… thinking it would be a good investment which is why he attributed it to art🤷🏾♂️ and the same reason people started but Bullshit NFT’s😂

This man is an embarrassment to all Albanians. He's erased all the good Mother Teresa had done (supposedly). On behalf of all Albanians, we're sorry for Martin Shkreli
36 Chambers is one of the best albums of all time. And I wasn't even alive when that album came out. I'm 28 now. I used to always listen to 36 Chambers before my high school and college football games!
This is example cultureless … hiphop 2 day is trash compared to the 90’s.. facts!
We had a resurgence with Kendrick and TDE blowing up the West at the same time that Sosa and drill took off. Granted, that was a decade plus ago, but it's the fact that consumers are largely dictating what labels and distributors want to invest and sell. This is why Drake is up top (or was) and Ice Spice gets nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist yet still doesn't have an album.
He’s trippin I play 36 chambers every month since it came out but. Wu tang forever is the best wu Album from beginning and end
I agree. I like 8 Diagrams too.
That bloated double album better than 36 ? Not a chance
Agreed. Wu Tang Forever is my favorite Wu Tang group album
Forever is my favorite album !!!
Ever?? Oh nooooo 😂
Dudes absolutely being biased because the grudge he has with the Wu. I meet any race of old and young people that listened to Wu Tang today.
36 chambers is still great and one of the greatest albums ever.
He has got a point. I dont listen to 36 Chambers at all. Chef used to say that they was baby artists when 36 Chambers came out. When you compare 36 Chambers to the Purple Tape two years later, it was not even in the same league. The Purple Tape still has lyrics that I am catching after 30 years of listening. That album is far superior to 36 Chambers.
You don't listen to the album anymore, that settles it... 🤔.
Do you still listen to "The Low End Theory, 3ft High And Rising, Tougher Than Leader, Too Hard to Swallow, Making Trouble, Southernplayalisticfunkymusic, Resurrection"?
@janepatton
Low end theory - Yes. I cannot go a calendar year without listening/seeing the Scenario video
3 ft high & rising - Yes. Seen De La in concert, so I need that ‘Me, Myself, and I’ joint.
Tougher than Leather- No. even though it was this album, as an album, from Run DMC that got me into rap.
Southern…- No. I’m more of an ATLiens man myself.
Peeps def still listen to their preferred classics.
The Wu was bigger than just the music itself, it was a movement. Maybe that’s what Shkreli means
These are the last two people I wanna hear critiquing hip hop
Yet, here you are.
@@KardiFan2000You can hear people out for the sake of it and not have to agree with everything they say.

It was better then The Chronic. The Chronic had 1 great song and 1 other good song. Rest was trash but since dudes was playing gangster it caught a wave

thanks for sharing, you inspired me to try something new
36 Chambers is a top ten hip hop album all time and one of the greatest albums ever made. It is still listened to regularly and inspires artists today. This dude talks so confidently about music while being so obviously oblivious.
I'm listening to the 36 Chambers to this day. Yes, hip hop production changed. No, it doesn't make the older stuff worse.
He lost me on this take .WU Tang is forever
This is the exact personification of Not Like us. They let him get a Wu Tang album just for him to think he has rights to speak on a group like Wu & a genre like Hip Hop. Smh
Huh?
Well he is allowed to have his opinion thats all it is anyway...his opinion

Thankyou original poster! You are a gate keeping racist, preach on!
the irony because the majority of people two stepping to Not Like Us look just like this guy and why don't yall have this same energy when these people praise Kendrick Lamar? When he wins a grammy, pulitzer prize or is on the cover of rolling stone people use it to glorify him but when someone that looks like this says the opposite now its they should not speak
You guys are missing his point and he's completely right. There's rock bands from back then that can still hold up to today's sound. For Wu Tang, that album is/was good but hip hop's sound today is way too different that most kids wouldn't even want to listen to it or enjoy it like the older heads would. They would rather listen to Sexy Red or Drake just so that they can shake their asses.
I cut ish off after 33 seconds
He can't relate to anything Wu-tang raps about. How are you shocked he would say that!!!!
Let this be a lesson never ask someone about your genre of music if don't relate to it.. they never will like it
He has the opinion of an 8 year old.
Just because you spend a million dollars on a track. That's makes it a good track? So money makes great creativity?
Everything is a product of its time it hard to create something that is truly timeless

he's right about the production, the quality of "sound" in hiphop in particular is better "Wu-Forever" was prob the 1st hiphop album I heard that pointed the industry in that direction, but classics are classics regardless of the original recording quality, the difference is now it's possible to get superior sound quality from a bedroom or basement regardless of the genre
Nahhhh 36 chambers is still on my Playlist🔥
He is right about hip hop. 36 Chambers doesnt sound s8&&^ like modern hip hop. The album was good for its time. But not for this time. I also agree that any Wu album after Wu Tang Forever is trash.
I still listen to 36 chambers... What a punk
Rap was never meint to be for everybody, Money cant change that. WU-TANG is for the children!
I mean, I guess I can kind of see where he’s coming from. 36 does sound dated, but I don’t think this guy is taking into account that rap and hip hop evolved a lot in a relatively short period of time. The fact that someone might think it was “great for the time” doesn’t change the fact that it was an excellent album and influenced a lot of artists, downstream.
Personally, when I listen to it and close my eyes, I see gritty New York, if that makes sense.
sounds dated? you mean the same way James Brown, Mike Jackson, Temptations, Elvis, The Beatles sound dated? hmmmm. oh i see you mean timeless classics...got it
