this week on grown men play with wood. The boys and girl show off their knowledge of wood by rubbing and sniffing all kinds of exotic hard wood
I now understand why they keep Johnny even tho he is not a nerd at all
All partys need thier druid or ranger
That guy is a nerd just not a game nerd
Wood nerds exist apparently
Seriously, watching masters at ANYTHING do their thing is amazing, and this is no different.
Remind me to always have Johnny pick the type of wood for me. That man knows his stuff.
It's unreal
Those are people who love and are masters of their craft!
Honestly, Johnny getting them all in round 2 was hot
find you someone that looks at you like these guys look at different types of wood.
Hi, fan of your stuff from New Zealand here - Kauri (which comes from New Zealand) is not pronounced like "quarry". It's more like "cow-ree". This has been my fun fact of the day.
Also, illegal to export if it's from NZ, so don't tell anyone you have it...
This is one of my favorite episode you guys rock
Thank you! :D
I want to know as much about anything as Johnny knows about wood lol
This is fucking awesome! I’m so glad I subscribed to this. Not only are your products amazing but so are your coworkers and your relationships:D May you continue to bigger and better things
Thank you so much :)
I understand that I'm not at all versed with types of wood but watching these Master Craftsmen name them off was awesome!
Bravo Johnny!
Osage is pronounced Oh-Sage or OH-sayj. The "a" is hard" Just sayin'.
It's also known as hedge. It's infamous around here for burning out fireplaces because it burns so hot. But it's incredibly famous for bows. I'm from Oklahoma. Here there are tribal bowmakers around that consider it the best wood for bowstaffs and I think they're objectively correct in North America. Back in the day an Osage Orange bow was worth a horse and a blanket. It'd be kinda like trading your new car and your bed for a gun. It's a very strong, dense wood used for tool handles and very nice fences (like for horses). It's very stable (but kinda bendy compared to other hardwoods) and rot resistant too. I hear it can be a pain to work but won't dull up blades for whatever that's worth.
Not a shitty wood. In terms of strength there's only a handful of woods that compare wordwide. Like 30. In the States there's only one wood both as hard and with equal or greater tensile strength and that's Texas Ebony. Not even the Swamp White Oak that they made the USS Constitution out of is as strong! And it deflected cannonballs!!
I'm getting uncomfortable that your brilliant wood knowledge is turning me on. Wyrmwood please hire this person.
Wood nerds, I love it! One of my favorite Wyrmlife episodes! a Classic!
Why is this my favorite episode so far?!? I guess I just know next to nothing about the different woods out there and its just impressive that Johnny just beasted all of that!!
I love to watch how much fun u have at work :-)
We have a blast 😁Glad you enjoy watching us goof off
This video was super cool!
I can't believe no one is talking about the bullet in the wood. That is just awesome and would make an awesome piece.
haha right? We are definitely going to do something with it?
@@WyrmLyfe No joke. I imagine someone would pay a significant amount to get an object crafted with that object. Objects need stories, and that has a story.
How viable is it to work up the background of the wood-piece? Is it possible to figure out where that piece of wood came from? (I'm a historian, so this kind of story makes me really interested.
That was fun!
Bulletwood Dice Trays 2019 edition?
Johnny is my spirit animal. SUCH A BOSS lol
Next competition should be fotklift driving :)
The hype for Smash ultimate is real
F'real
I knowwwwww
It’s O Sage orange, at least in Illinois where I’m grew up
impressive
This is why we love Johnny.
They gotta bring this back again
ROFL
Epic
MAD respect for Johnny
Damn Johnny knows his shit
Johnny!!! Fucking all star man!
Why wasn’t Savage include in master class? He kicked butt and potentially the quickest! Can we do a rematch?? 💙
so I lived in Paraguay for a while I think that there is a wood called Palo Santo? Is kinda brown-green and super nice smelling. Also is Lapacho (super pretty leaves (pink, white or purple) any good for woodworking?
Respect to Johnny... To all of them of course... But mostly Jo
Josh is so mean to the Osage orange 😂
I'm shocked there was no "hey, sniff my wood... Hur hur hur" comments 😆
Wyrmlife delights the audience with anticipation of dirty comments.
And this see if they have any of the wood they identified in the home shop??? Throw some black palm in for good measure
It's pronounced O Sage, it was used to make bows.
What are some woods you guys want to use it can't afford/get ahold of?! What's everyone's favorite wood to work with and why?
My personal fave wood is Black and White Ebony. -Mary W
tip from new zealand..... Kauri is not pronounced like quaryee lol.
I don't know why but seeing the rainbow flag so often makes me happy ^^
Johnny is the shit!!!
I would like Jonny to build my order to ensure I'm getting what I ordered. If I order snake wood and get Tasmanian hamster fur wood imma be pissed.
I have never heard it pronounced Osage only as O-Sage. I think the local tire shop is kept in business due to the local Osage trees.
A bit late to the game. Quick question, do none of them actually know how to pronounce Osage, or is it just a bit?
