    There's literally thousands of lineman out working around the clock right now across Atlantic Canada and North East US. Please be patient and be safe everyone!

      Praying for you and your brothers in Canada my uncle was a lineman and then worked on the high tension lines and was doing barehanding before he retired after 45 years of service. Is a pastor and also as a professional license mechanical contractor I appreciate my brother electricians. God bless all of you that work on these lines in this horrible weather

    Those fuses are heavier than I thought they would be. I had to pick up a similar one at a site we were working in. I told my assistant today. Coffee can solve a lot of things. He was worked up about not finding work. I said, "get a cup of coffee, " Then he says you say that about all things. Really it not about the coffee. It sometimes takes the wheels of life a little time to catch up to you. Somethings need a little patience and need a little more thought. Before leaping into things. Hopefully he gets it eventually. Soon enough we both had jobs and I got lunch. Sometimes things work themselves out. Can 't get all stressed on the little things. Someone always watching to make you productive. There always seems to be work. Have a great holiday! Stay safe out there we need ya!

I really liked your Switchyard videos too! Seeing/hearing the opening and closing of the circuit is something there just isn't enough of the internet in longer than 5-second clips =)

    Hey Aaron yeah Maine got walloped pretty good by The Grinch Storm 2023 I'm a trained spotter for The NWS Caribou, Maine Office as part of they're Skywarn Program I live in Brewer, Maine and was out in the thick of the storm we had 71 mph wind gusts here the apt building I live in had shingles blown off, there was flooding behind the Sea Dog Resteraunt in Bangor, Maine, a tree on a all 3 phases of powerlines on Main Road North in Hampden, Maine 2 trees I came across downed on Lambert Rd in Brewer, Maine between Versant & CMP there were over 400,000 Mainers without power at the height of the storm today there's still over 200,000 Mainers still without power I got my power back last night around 9:30 pm We have line and tree crews from other states Massachusetts, Vermont, Ohio, New York was a wild day 4 sure Aaron Thank You for what you do for The Candian Residents I also wanna say and give huge shoutout To all LIneman and tree crews that are coming to Maine to help with power restoration efforts Line and tree crews get alot of flack from those who lose power they just don't understand that when there's widespread damage and complexity of things power can't be restored until all problems like trees on lines they have to be removed first then assess Transmission Lines and if theres damage it gets fixed then didtribution lines are fixed next then areas with large outages are restored and this process repeats for all remaining customers without power until all customers have there power back STOP GIVING LINE AND TREE CREWS FLACK THEY'RE DOING THE BEST THEY CAN WITH THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE AND DESTRUCTION MAINE SAW YIKES.

We have green and blue triangles on the trucks can’t miss us. We are happy to be here to help Mainers get their power back before Christmas to the best of our ability. All while being away from our own families. I hope everyone is patient with us. We all want to get done as fast as possible and get home to our families safely. God bless thanks for the appreciation.

    To begin with be safe, be smart and be aware. Merry Christmas to all of you who keep the lights on. So it worked over? What caused that if I may ask? I know there have been problems around industrial areas or substations are, where is the atmosphere and air quality puts different elements on the outside of the fuse or a insulator and causes a flashover

    • @timcolby8874
      @timcolby8874 6 місяців тому +3

      Flashed over the outside of the fuse? That's what I meant to say

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 6 місяців тому +3

      @@timcolby8874 most likely the fuse did blow out internally, after a bit. The carbon tracking on the outside is year's (decades?) of accumulated dirt that will eventually conduct electricity. The dirt is attracted by static electricity and stays there for a variety of reasons. (wind direction, humidity, temp, etc)

    I am an electrician by trade but do not work over 600 volts. I learn so much from watching your videos. I am also a second-year trade school teacher. teaching the next generation of electricians. The main thing I try and drill into them is to be able to think like a lead guy. and how to be safe. to think before you act.
    Some have expressed interest in utility lineman work. I explain that it's another 4 years of apprenticeship. I also encourage them to watch your videos and how you stress following safety procedures. Your first mistake most likely be your last.
    In that video, was that a fuse that was already in place and the 69KVA tracked down it, or were they closing it in, and that happened? Was to damp? what could have caused that?

    • @imeprezime1285

      Sometimes, as the HV fuse is about to open the line due to fault, high transient overvoltage is build up. If the surface is not clean surface arcing can occur

    "Why no forestry contractors" We had arborists out in Maine, and I bet in Aron's area also. The weather and the roads have been too #$%!-ed up for reporters to know who is doing what. Also logistics: an arborist can't cut until the wire-guys make-safe, and as long as they are on scene maybe they should just do it? Only when they see that there's actual hours of just-cutting with zero electric til the end does it makes sense to send the linemen to the next fault and leave the saw-guys to rip.
    It was real bad in Maine. Winds higher than I've seen in 14 years. Lot of 63mph 111kph gusts. 100mph gust reported north of here. After rain, on top of wind and rain last week. Probably half the state without power. Huge trees down on lines, in streets, and prolly on houses (I kept my eyes on the road, washouts). We ran an ill generator near 48 hours cuz we just filled two freezers last month. Electric well pump: bottled drinking water but not enough to flush toilets, we brought buckets from the pond (puddle).
    Power came on afternoon of 19th but I said "I don't trust it". 20 minutes later BOOM!!💥a "transformer explosion" (yeah, a trans won't blow that quick, is a big fuse). Power stayed out another 24 hours. Finally we "had" to go out for a treat-meal, and on the way saw OUR HEROS 🦸working on the deadhead at the end of the street. I thumbed-up and yelled "thanks" to the idle ground-man, gently cuz the bucketman had a hot-stick handy (not in action).
