    I remember somebody mentioning this:
    An estate sale is something you do when you sell of /dispose a recently deceased persons material things. So this video fits perfectly for the end. And him announcing in the beginning track that everything has to go out sets it up.
    I love it when artists do this multimedia stuff where they tell a "hidden" story. Reminds me of what happened with Jojis Nectar album which was also a story told solely visually throughout the promotions and music videos. (it was about a scientist rising up the ranks, being essentially sick of everything, leaving earth alone by laucnhing a space rocket on his own, abandoning his mission and then being stranded in space)

    The close up shots of his torso, which is his current or new self, was shown walking back and forth. Each time taking out an alter ego.
    The small details with Tyler are worth noticing,, he’s so creative

      one of the times he takes someone out they dont actually show a closeup of the chest they just show him in the out of focus background of a closeup of one of the tyers (i think baudelaire).

    I think the” by/bi the lakes, switching tides” lines is him saying they didn’t need to know about his bisexuality and how he feels about it. Also he kills each personality based on least to most ego, sir Baudelaire being last is important because he has the most ego and pride

    Tyler is quickly rising into the conversation of some of the most talented people in pop-culture. He's on a run of incredible albums, while also directing and scoring commercials for his own clothing lines. These extra songs for CMIYGL are strengthening his position in the game. I was absolutely floored when I first heard this song and saw the music video.

  • @ImxPhreme
    @ImxPhreme Рік тому +62

    As a huge Tyler fan, I see this a little different. I think he wrote this song withOUT the other versions in mind. The “goblin” moments are just Tyler’s huge ego, or devil on the shoulder. Meanwhile the shirtless Tyler is his true self killing off all of his other identities. That’s the most pure and raw Tyler.
    So basically this whole track is from his perspective today, but each Tyler era is still part of him. Until he just killed them off..

    the whole visual of the song and the song itself was to show everyone how his moving on from everything, how all his alter ego's have left him and how he had to get ride of most of them to move on into a new version of himself to not just improve but to show that his not the same person anymore and to show his now moving into a new era of himself where there isnt any need for an alter ego but now to be himself

    My interpretation of the shirtless Tyler is that it's supposed to represent his "real" self (hence the 'nakedness').
    Him killing all these past album personas could be in response to people comparing eras to state he's "changed" (he's always changed). Or it could be Tyler recognizing how these personas are mostly performative, they aren't really "Tyler" but different characters that Tyler plays. In other words, they're fake to an extent. None of them will ever individually be able to represent who Tyler is.
