Canaima & Angel Falls - Venezuela, 2011

Canaima National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Canaima) is a 30,000 km2 park in south-eastern Venezuela.
Angel Falls (Spanish: Salto Ángel; Pemon language: Kerepakupai Vená, meaning "waterfall of the deepest place", or Parakupá Vená, meaning "the fall from the highest point") is a world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, with a height of 979 m.

What an absolutely beautiful and wonderful place this is, certainly one of the world’s natural wonders. I had the very good fortune of visiting Venezuela in 1996, before the political and economic situation there became too dangerous - the British Foreign Office advises against all travel to Venezuela. I was able to see the world’s highest waterfall, Angel Falls, close up and swim in the pool below the falls. The whole park, with its table mountains does have a prehistoric appearance about it and you can easily imagine a dinosaur could appear at any moment!
An absolutely unforgettable once in a lifetime experience indeed.

Thank you for the memories. I was on the Angel Falls tour in the 1980's. I remember how the water felt to swim in, it was warm and almost felt thick and the color was beautiful. There was so much to look at that it was impossible to remember it all. Muchas gracias.

Yeah I've done that trip its just gorgeous! the locals had said their way of life changed by the fishing industry so now they have a tourist industry.
